Packers | Wynn ahead of Jackson on the depth chart? Thu Aug 13, 08:29 PM
Greg Bedard, from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, writes on his twitter page that DeShawn Wynn is ahead of Brandon Jackson.
Footballguys view: Wynn's fantastic camp continues, and this is big news for fantasy owners - especially Ryan Grant owners. If Grant gets off to a slow start this season the team may be willing to turn over most of the carries to DeShawn Wynn. Brandon Jackson still provides good value to the team as a pass receiving option out of the backfield, but doesn't run with the same type of power and instinct that Wynn does. |

Packers | Wynn impressive so far in training camp Sat Aug 8, 02:20 PM
Tom Silverstein, of The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers backup RB DeShawn Wynn has stepped up his game. Running backs coach Edgar Bennett said Wynn is in the best shape he's seen him in and Wynn has matured. Bennett said Wynn needs to keep showing it day after day, but he is headed in the right direction. Wynn is a good blocker, which could allow him a chance to unseat Brandon Jackson as the third-down back. He also is able to pop off long runs and has good size. According to Silverstein, he may be able to challenge starting RB Ryan Grant for more playing time if he is able to keep it up, produce when the pads are on and stay healthy.
Footballguys view: Wynn has been one of the biggest buzz players of training camp thus far. We're anxiously awaiting the Packers preseason games to see if the new Wynn shows up. |

Packers | Wynn has taken the next step Fri Aug 7, 08:03 PM
Packers.com posted Mike McCarthy's press conference transcript from today and he commented on RB DeShawn Wynn. "I think what you see from DeShawn Wynn, he's always had the ability to play at a high level, but it's that next step that you look for in a lot of your younger players. Can he do it every day? I think he's had a very good training camp. It's his best training camp so far in his career. But he has to do it every day. That's what he needs to get done, because he's played at a high level for us in the past when he's had an opportunity in the regular-season games, but that's the question he needs to answer."
Footballguys view: If only he can stay healthy, DeShawn Wynn could have a much bigger role than most people are expecting. There is a chance if Ryan Grant starts the season off slow the Packers could hand over the starting job to Wynn. |

Packers | Wynn keeps impressing Fri Aug 7, 07:03 PM
Tom Silverstein, from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, reports it's Ryan Grant's property right now, but if DeShawn Wynn can remain upright this season, the starting running back position for the Green Bay Packers might be a time share. Questions continued to linger about whether he could get himself in shape enough to challenge Grant this summer. The answer after eight training camp practices is yes. "This is the best shape I believe he's ever been in," running backs coach Edgar Bennett said. "He's strong; he's lean and quick for a big guy. He's a talented man."
Footballguys view: Wynn used to have a reputation as an underachiever his first two seasons with the Packers, and he was released in last year's training camp and was signed to the practice squad. He finished the year on the active roster and in week 17 against the Lions he had 7 carries for 106 yards and a touchdown. His career path may follow that of fellow Gator, Earnest Graham, who had stick around on special teams, and play a little fullback before getting his chance to carry the ball. If Ryan Grant starts slow (as he's known to do) we could see the Packers turn the running game over to DeShawn Wynn. |

Packers | Wynn's stock rising Thu Jul 30, 09:10 AM
Rob Reischel, of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, reports that Packers RB DeShawn Wynn's "stock may be at an all-time high within the organization."
Footballguys view: Ryan Grant could return to 2007 form, but if he doesn't, players like Wynn, Kregg Lumpkin, and Brandon Jackson will be breathing down his neck for more touches. |

Packers | RB Coach impressed with changes to Wynn's preparation Fri Jul 24, 07:46 PM
Jason Wilde, of the Wisconsin State Journal, reports that Green Bay RB coach Edgar Bennett has been impressed with the changes RB DeShawn Wynn has made in the last year. "I'm very proud of how he handled the situation and how he learned from the situation (last year)," Bennett said. "His preparation, the way he made adjustments as far as from a physical standpoint, his maintenance on his body, changing his eating habits, I think he did a fantastic job of that and I think it's paying dividends, based off of his performance."
Footballguys view: Wynn was impressive in week 17 vs. Detroit last year, with 106 yards on seven carries. He was an underachiever at Florida who always looked like he had the talent to play in the NFL, but not the dedication. If he has truly made those kinds of changes permanently, he could be a bigger factor in the Packer backfield than anyone is anticipating right now. |
