Raiders | Sign Devon Wylie    Tue Aug 18, 05:33 PM

Free-agent WR Devon Wylie (Rams) signed with the Oakland Raiders Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Footballguys view: Wylie is a super quick slot receiver who has bounced around the league. He's not a fantasy factor--or a player you should be monitoring even in super deep dynasty leagues.

Rams | Seven signed to Futures contracts    Tue Dec 30, 07:36 PM

The St. Louis Rams signed OT Steven Baker, WR Emory Blake, OG Travis Bond, DB Christian Bryant, LB Marshall McFadden, DT Doug Worthington and WR Devon Wylie to Reserve/Futures contracts Tuesday, Dec. 30.

Footballguys view: Oh if Wylie could only stay healthy. Coming out of Fresno State, Wylie was impressive at the Shrine Game and reminded scouts of Wes Welker. However, (just like in college) Wylie has struggled with injuries as a pro.

Rams | Sign two to practice squad    Tue Oct 21, 05:14 PM

The St. Louis Rams signed free-agent WRs Kadron Boone (Eagles) and Devon Wylie (49ers) to their practice squad Tuesday, Oct. 21.

Footballguys view: Wylie was once an interesting prospect in dynasty leagues. He's been unable to stick on more than one roster despite having incredible natural ability. Wylie is quick, fast and agile--but he struggles staying healthy and with consistency. We're no longer interested in him...even in the deepest of deep dynasty leagues.

49ers | LaMichael James top candidate for return jobs    Sat Jul 19, 12:01 PM

San Francisco 49ers RB LaMichael James will be entering training camp as the leading candidate for the kick and punt return jobs. WR Bruce Ellington, WR Devon Wylie, WR Quinton Patton and CB Perrish Cox are expected to compete with James for the jobs.

Footballguys view: James has to do something to stand out in the league's most crowded backfield. He's buried on the depth chart behind Frank Gore, Kendall Hunter and rookie Carlos Hyde (at least). James has little fantasy value--even in dynasty leagues.

49ers | Two work on punt returns    Tue Jun 3, 11:57 PM

San Francisco 49ers RB LaMichael James and WR Devon Wylie were the only two players working on fielding punts during practice Tuesday, June 3, during voluntary workouts. James looked more comfortable catching the ball on a windy day.

Footballguys view: James will have to prove himself on special teams if he wants to make the final roster. "Wiggles" Wylie is a fantastic option at punt preturner. He's quick, fast and can make defenders miss. Too bad he struggles to stay healthy dating back to his days at Fresno State.

49ers | Two signed to futures deals    Mon Jan 20, 03:35 PM

The San Francisco 49ers have signed WR Devon Wylie and DE Lawrence Okoye to futures contracts. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Wylie is a shifty, speedy return man/slot receiver who has been unable to stay healthy or stick on a roster for very long after going in the fourth round to the Chiefs two years ago.

  49ers | Two signed    Tue Dec 10, 06:59 PM

The San Francisco 49ers signed OG Ryan Seymour (Seahawks) and WR Devon Wylie (Seahawks) Tuesday, Dec. 10.

Titans | Devon Wylie, Kevin Matthews cut    Tue Nov 26, 05:29 PM

The Tennessee Titans released WR Devon Wylie Tuesday, Nov. 26. Wylie lost a fumble on a kickoff two weeks ago in the loss to the Indianapolis Colts. C Kevin Matthews was also released. Free-agent DT Frank Kearse (Panthers) was signed to the practice squad and DT Chigbo Anunoby (undisclosed) was put on the practice squad injured list.

Footballguys view: The Titans just signed Leon Washington to be their primary kick returner.

Titans | Devon Wylie to handle returns    Wed Nov 13, 12:08 AM

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak said Tuesday, Nov. 12, that WR Devon Wylie will handle punt and kickoff returns in the Week 11 game against the Indianapolis Colts Thursday, Nov. 14. He said it is a challenge since Wylie hasn't played all season.

Footballguys view: "Wiggles" Wylie is incredibly quick and elusive in the open field. Fantasy owners in super deep dynasty leagues should have him on the radar.

Titans | Jake Locker to IR    Tue Nov 12, 03:30 PM

The Tennessee Titans placed QB Jake Locker (foot) on the season-ending Injured Reserve Tuesday, Nov. 12, and elevated WR Devon Wylie from the practice squad to the active roster in a corresponding move.

Footballguys view: It's a shame that Locker's season has to end like this. He was starting to show off his skill set and was playing well when healthy this year. Locker should be back in time for training camp next year.

Steelers | Devon Wylie cut    Wed Oct 30, 11:31 AM

Steelers | Devon Wylie signs    Wed Oct 16, 11:17 AM

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed free-agent WR Devon Wylie (Cardinals) to the practice squad.

Footballguys view: Wylie has bounced around the league during his short pro career. He's a talented player, and has a little Danny Amendola to his game. However, Wylie has had trouble staying healthy both as a collegian at Fresno State and as a pro.

Patriots | Work out a few    Tue Oct 15, 11:06 PM

The New England Patriots worked out free-agent WRs Jordan Shipley (Jaguars), WR LaQuan Williams (Ravens) and WR Devon Wylie (Cardinals) Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Footballguys view: The Patriots are likely just updating their emergency list here. When Wylie came out of Fresno State in 2012 there were some in the scouting community who compared him to Danny Amendola because of his quickness and ability to make tough catches underneath.

Chiefs | Devon Wylie injured    Thu Aug 29, 08:50 PM

Kansas City Chiefs WR Devon Wylie (hamstring) left the team's preseason game early Thursday, Aug. 29, because of a hamstring injury.

Footballguys view: "Wiggles" Wylie is an exciting playmaker with the ball in his hands. However, he has a long injury history dating back to his days in college at Fresno State. Hamstring injuries are known to linger if not given the proper time to heal.

Chiefs | WRs not very productive    Mon Dec 17, 06:55 PM

Kansas City Chiefs wideouts were not very productive in a Week 15 shutout against the Oakland Raiders. WR Dexter McCluster had a career-high seven catches for only 59 yards. WRs Jamar Newsome and Devon Wylie caught just one pass with the most experience starter, WR Steve Breaston inactive because of head coach Romeo Crennel's decision. 'I'm still not sure why I'm not playing,' Breaston said. 'I'm past all that now. It just is what it is. There are other things for this team to worry about.' WR Jonathan Baldwin did not catch a single pass.

Footballguys view: It was a disappointing day for the Chiefs passing game. QB Brady Quinn attempted 32 passes on Sunday, but only threw for 136 yards. We find it incredibly frustrating that RB Jamaal Charles only got nine carries in a game the Chiefs could have won.

Chiefs | Dexter McCluster leads team in receiving in Week 15    Mon Dec 17, 12:55 AM

Kansas City Chiefs WR Dexter McCluster rolled up seven receptions for a team-best 59 yards in the Week 15 game against the Oakland Raiders. WRs Jamar Newsome and Devon Wylie were the only other wideouts to get onto the stat sheet, and they managed just one catch for six yards each.

Footballguys view: Without WR Dwayne Bowe in the lineup we saw McCluster elevate his game. We're not relying on the Chiefs passing game for fantasy purposes and McCluster is only worth a desperation flex play in week 16.

Chiefs | Uncertainty at WR    Thu Dec 13, 08:54 PM

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jonathan Baldwin will be one of the starters at wide receiver in Week 15 with WR Dwayne Bowe (ribs) out for the rest of the year. Head coach Romeo Crennel said WRs Steve Breaston and Devon Wylie could be starting opposite of Breaston, but Crennel is unsure which player that will be. 'We're going to work during the week and we're going to see who will give us the best chance in the game, and then those guys will be active,' Crennel said. Breaston has disappointed with only seven catches for 74 yards this, but he is the receiver with the most experience on the current roster. He has been inactive for four of the last five games, and Crennel indicated that Breaston doesn't seem to have a strong grasp of the offense. WR Dexter McCluster has the most catches on roster in his career other than Breaston, with 108.

Footballguys view: Uncertainty is not something that gives fantasy owners confidence. We like the matchup against the Raiders in week 15, but can't recommend Baldwin as anything more than a desperation flex play.

Chiefs | Steve Breaston in the doghouse     Thu Nov 15, 08:24 AM

Kansas City Chiefs WR Steve Breaston was inactive for the team's Week 10 game, and head coach Romeo Crennel said that is because the team wants to take a look at other players. 'What happened a little bit is that he hasn't made as many plays,' Crennel said. 'So this past game he took a backseat so that we could get a younger player up to see what the younger player could do.' Rookie WR Devon Wylie took Breaston's place; however, he played six snaps and was not targeted on a pass. Crennel said there are other issues as well regarding Breaston. 'He's a veteran player, and some young guys might have a little more quickness and a little bit more speed. And if you as a coach want to take a look at that speed, you have to make a move. So I did.'

Footballguys view: We like Wylie's dynasty upside, but the Chiefs need to get a better QB before their passing game takes off.

Chiefs | Devon Wylie probable for Week 9    Wed Oct 31, 04:14 PM

Kansas City Chiefs WR Devon Wylie (hamstring) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 31, and is probable for the team's Week 9 game.

Footballguys view: We could see Wylie help out the Chiefs as a reserve receiver and return man. We like his quickness and big play ability but shudder at the thought of his long injury history.

Chiefs | Devon Wylie could work as a returner     Wed Oct 31, 07:57 AM

Kansas City Chiefs WR Devon Wylie (hamstring) could serve as the team's kick and punt returner as he continues to learn the playbook. 'He brings some speed and quickness to the team,' head coach Romeo Crennel said. 'I think once he gets more reps and kind of gets caught up a little bit ... when you're (injured and missing practice), you're not where you need to be mentally and you're not where you need to be in the offense. So we've got to get him some more reps, and we're working on that and then we'll see if that develops.'

Footballguys view: Wylie is an electric playmaker with the ball in his hands. We'd like to see him used as a return man and get some targets underneath as a slot WR.

We'll see if he can stay healthy and start to get in the mix of KC's WR group. There could be a bigger opportunity if Dwayne Bowe is traded before the deadline on Thursday.
