Wilson has been bouncing from inside to outside in the defensive alignments, but he's listed as a backup cornerback on the depth chart. New York Jets CB Dee Milliner is listed as a starting cornerback on the team's preseason depth chart despite practicing for less than a week. CB Kyle Wilson is listed as the nickel cornerback.

Footballguys view: Wilson has failed to play up to his potential as a pro after being the team's first-round pick in 2010. Milliner was considered the top CB prospect in the 2013 NFL draft. He has a nice size/speed combination and can play effectively in coverage or run defense.

Jets | Kyle Wilson performs well during workouts    Fri Jun 14, 04:58 PM

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said he was impressed with how CB Kyle Wilson performed during offseason workouts. 'This is the best camp he's had and it's not close. I've been proud of the way he's come into these OTAs and the way he's competing,' Ryan said. 'The other thing about Kyle, mentally he's a sharp guy as well. He can work inside and outside and we'll play him in both spots.' Wilson worked mostly as the nickel back during the workouts but could compete with CB Dee Milliner for a starting job.

Footballguys view: Wilson is likely to be the team's nickel corner in 2013. The Jets selected Milliner in the first-round of the 2013 NFL draft and he should be the starter opposite Antonio Cromartie when the regular season begins.

Jets | Antonio Cromartie wants to cash in    Tue Jul 19, 07:34 PM

New York Jets impending free-agent CB Antonio Cromartie said he doesn't believe in 'hometown discounts' and that he will not re-sign with the Jets during the exclusive negotiating period. 'I'm not giving anybody a hometown discount,' Cromartie said. 'I'm definitely going to see what the organization says and also let them know I want to go out and test the market and see where my value is.' He has mentioned the Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys and Oakland Raiders as potential suitors. CB Kyle Wilson could become the starter if Cromartie departs.

Footballguys view: Cromartie is probably third at best on team's wish lists at CB behind Nnamdi Asomugha and Jonathan Joseph. He might not be nearly as formidable without one of the best cornerbacks of this era on the other side of the field, It's easy to forget that he was basically a liability for San Diego before they traded him, but we think NFL personnel folks will remember that before ponying up tens of millions of guaranteed dollars for Cromartie.

Jets | David Harris, Antonio Cromartie top priorities    Tue Jan 25, 10:30 AM

The New York Jets' two biggest offseason priorities will be re-signing pending free-agent LB David Harris and CB Antonio Cromartie, according to Manish Mehta, of the New York Daily News. Harris will likely command in excess of $10 million a year, but he is the top priority on defense. Cromartie was arguably the team's best defensive player during the first half of the season, and the Jets gave up a second-round draft pick to obtain him. In addition, the prospect of starting CB Kyle Wilson, who struggled mightily during his rookie season, as the No. 2 corner across from CB Darrelle Revis next year only heightens Cromartie's value.
