Redskins | Joey Galloway and Roydell Williams sharing starting role    Sat Jul 31, 01:40 AM

Washington Redskins WRs Joey Galloway and Roydell Williams are listed as co-starters at split end, reports Jason Reid, of The Washington Post. They are ahead of WRs Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly (hamstring) on the depth chart, but it is still early. Thomas and Kelly will be given the opportunity to climb the depth chart during training camp. Head coach Mike Shanahan said he felt Galloway and Williams played the best during the summer. 'This is where we start. It is a starting point. It's surely not where we are gonna finish. It could be. There is gonna be a competition,' Shanahan said.

Footballguys view: We don't expect this to last long, but Galloway and Williams are both fine pickups in very deep dynasty leagues with expanded rosters while this strange depth chart persists.

NFL | Three players signed    Mon Apr 19, 05:02 PM

Adam Schefter, of ESPN, reports the Washington Redskins have signed unrestricted free-agent RB Ryan Torain (Broncos), WR Marques Hagans (Redskins) and WR Roydell Williams (Redskins). Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Torain was originally drafted by Mike Shanahan in the fifth-round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He was hurt during his rookie season, but Shanahan was comparing him to Terrell Davis during training camp. Torain is a strong inside runner, but is not sudden and runs too upright - exposing his midsection to more hits.

Redskins | R. Williams signed    Mon May 4, 04:31 PM

Zach Berman and Jason La Canfora, of The Washington Post, report the Washington Redskins have signed unrestricted free-agent WR Roydell Williams (Titans). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: It seemed like Roydell Williams was on the verge of good things in Tennessee a couple of years ago when he led the team in receiving. His inability to recover from ankle surgery not only cost him a spot on the Titans, but a spot in the league. The Redskins are really looking to add Wide Receivers to the roster in order to spark competition behind Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle-El.
