Jets | Kyle Williams released by Gang Green Mon Aug 29, 10:43 PM
The New York Jets released WR Kyle S. Williams Monday, Aug. 29.
Footballguys view: Williams doesn't do much as a WR but he can contribute as a return man. He's bounced around the league for years and could be running out of chances to stick in the pros. |

Jets| NYJ sheds 11 from roster Sun Aug 28, 06:43 PM
The New York Jets released RB Lache Seastrunk, PK Ross Martin, OL Jesse Davis, C Kyle Friend, OG Jarvis Harrison, LB Deion Barnes, DT Shelby Harris, DE Helva Matungulu, RB Terry Williams, TE Jason Vander Laan and WR Kyle Williams.
Footballguys view: With the release of Martin, Nick Folk is officially the winner of a kicker battle that was probably over weeks ago. Seastrunk's intriguing suddenness and elusiveness in the open field has failed to make a roster yet again. |

Jets | Geno Smith sharp in practice Sat Jul 30, 09:25 PM
New York Jets QB Geno Smith worked with the second-team offense and connected on deep balls to WR Kyle S. Williams and WR Chandler Worthy during practice Friday, July 29.
Footballguys view: We'll be keeping an eye on this situation, but Smith is unlikely to start for the Jets this year with Ryan Fitzpatrick back on the roster. |

Free-agent WR Kyle S. Williams (Broncos) signed with the New York Jets on an undisclosed deal Friday, June 17. The Jets waived WR Quenton Bundrage.
Footballguys view: Williams struggles to stay healthy, and he's primarily just a return man...if he can make the team. |

Broncos | Make two roster moves Mon Aug 3, 04:41 PM
Denver Broncos WR Kyle Williams (Achilles') was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Aug. 3. WR Corbin Louks was subsequently signed.
Footballguys view: Louks may have a shot at making the practice squad, but that is certainly a longshot. In his first day of camp, Louks showed good quickness after the catch according to our very own Cecil Lammey. |

Broncos | Kyle Williams injured Sat Aug 1, 02:15 PM
Denver Broncos WR Kyle Williams (Achilles') suffered at least a partially torn Achilles' tendon in practice Saturday, Aug. 1, according to a source. He may be out for the season.
Footballguys view: An Achilles' injury at this point in his career would likely end his playing days. |

Broncos | Kyle Williams getting a look Mon Jul 20, 10:10 PM
Denver Broncos WR Kyle Williams is looking to make an impression on special teams to earn a roster spot in training camp and the preseason. He has averaged 24.0 yards per kickoff return, and 8.1 yards per punt return.
Footballguys view: Williams also has fumbled once every 15.5 opportunities during his career, something he needs to cure if he wants to find a job. Most remember two major blunders by Williams when he was with the 49ers in the 2012 NFC Championship Game. |

Broncos | Four signed to Futures contracts Tue Dec 30, 07:13 PM
The Denver Broncos signed WR Jeremy Kelley, CB Curtis Marsh, DE Chase Vaughn and WR Kyle Williams to Reserve/Futures contracts Tuesday, Dec. 30.
Footballguys view: Williams is interesting here for the Broncos. They signed Jordan Norwood to a futures contract last year, and he was going to make the team at WR this season before a devastating knee injury. Williams was a sixth-round pick by the 49ers in 2010, and he has a lot of experience (some not good) playing special teams. |

Chiefs | Several injuries practice Mon Jul 21, 01:07 PM
Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (knee), WR Kyle Williams (knee), WR A.J. Jenkins (hamstring) and CB Christopher Owens (hamstring) participated in practice Monday, July 21.
Footballguys view: The team really likes Kelce, and he should be the starter at tight end if healthy this year. Kelce is tough and knows how to use his size in order to "box out" defenders. The Chiefs desperately need weapons in the passing game besides Dwayne Bowe and Jamaal Charles. We'll see if Kelce can be that guy. Keep him as a low-end TE2 with upside or on your waiver wire speed dial this year. |

Kansas City Chiefs WR A.J. Jenkins (hamstring), TE Travis Kelce (knee), WR Kyle Williams (knee) and CB David Van Dyke (undisclosed) missed practice Thursday, June 5. OT Eric Fisher (shoulder) was a limited participant.
Footballguys view: Fisher is the most critical piece to watch here as any issue at left tackle could be a disaster for the offense, but for the most part nobody should be worried at this point in the summer. |

49ers | Colin Kaepernick had previous trouble with Carolina Sat Jan 11, 02:33 AM
San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick had one of his worst games as an NFL player the first time the 49ers played the Carolina Panthers. In that game, he completed 11 of 22 passes for 91 yards and no touchdowns. The Panthers also sacked Kaepernick six times and intercepted one of his passes. Kaepernick completed passes to six receivers against the Panthers. However, three of those players aren't on the roster or are out for the season -- WR Mario Manningham, WR Kyle Williams and WR Bruce Miller.
Footballguys view: The return of Michael Crabtree could very well prove to be the difference here. He's Kaepernick's favorite receiver, and should be able to get open regularly against the Panthers secondary. |

Chiefs | Hope to use Kyle Williams Thu Nov 14, 03:42 PM
The Kansas City Chiefs hope WR Kyle Williams will be able to help their offense when he's ready to play. 'He can be explosive with the ball in his hands,' offensive coordinator Doug Pederson said. 'We know his ability to block. He's a tough, physical kid with some speed. We've just got to get him in practice and see what he can do in situations where he has a chance to make a play.' Kansas City may look to use him on the outside after he was mostly used out of the slot with the San Francisco 49ers. The Chiefs will use him as a backup punt and kickoff returner, too.
Footballguys view: What exactly is the fascination in Kansas City with failed former 49ers wide receivers? First they trade for A.J. Jenkins who has done squat for them and now they sign Kyle Williams, another guy who could never put it together in the Bay Area. The Chiefs keep throwing things at the wall hoping they will stick as an option to help out Alex Smith. Williams is unlikely to do more than provide depth and potential pop on returns. |

Chiefs | Kyle Williams claimed Wed Nov 13, 04:42 PM

49ers | Will waive Kyle Williams Tue Nov 12, 01:16 PM
The San Francisco 49ers will waive WR Kyle Williams Tuesday, Nov. 12.

49ers | Kyle Williams could be in danger Mon Oct 28, 12:43 AM

Williams caught just one pass for seven yards. When asked whether Williams' job was in jeopardy, coach Jim Harbaugh did not address the situation. 'We don't want to take about controversy on who the returner is,' Harbaugh said. 'There's no returner controversy or anything like that.'

49ers | Kyle Williams listed as starter Wed Sep 4, 07:51 PM
The San Francisco 49ers list WR Kyle Williams as a starting wide receiver opposite WR Anquan Boldin on their initial depth chart heading into the regular season opener against the Green Bay Packers.
Footballguys view: Williams may be listed as second on the depth chart, but the second target in the passing game is TE Vernon Davis. |

49ers | LaMichael James nursing sprain Fri Aug 30, 02:09 PM
San Francisco 49ers RB LaMichael James (knee) has been diagnosed with a sprained medial collateral ligament. With James likely to be sidelined for at least a few weeks, WR Kyle Williams is likely to see a bigger role on punt returns, with WR Quinton Patton potentially seeing more of a role in the kick return game.
Footballguys view: James was a great return yardage league play, but for now he'll have to be on your bench. This could give Vernon Davis and Anquan Boldin a few extra targets while James is out because the team was going to use his skills running in space as a receiver out of the backfield. |

49ers | Two WRs appear to be doing better than the rest Fri Aug 16, 05:26 PM
San Francisco 49ers WRs Anquan Boldin and Kyle Williams appear to be performing better than any of the other wide receivers on the roster.
Footballguys view: Kyle Williams continues to come up as an entrenched receiver on this roster. With Mario Manningham still coming back from ACL surgery, Williams could begin the season as a starter. He'll have little value as the #3 or lower target in a run-first offense. |

49ers | Three receivers back on field Mon Aug 5, 02:27 AM
The San Francisco 49ers had three injured wide receivers back on the practice field Sunday, Aug. 4. WR's A.J. Jenkins (hamstring), Kassim Osgood (leg) and Kyle Williams (hamstring) all returned to the field, and all three are candidates to start opposite WR Anquan Boldin.
Footballguys view: Both Jenkins and Williams are competing to be the starter this season opposite Anquan Boldin. The initial depth chart was released as the team prepares for their first preseason game and Williams as listed as the current starter. Jenkins was the team's first-round pick in 2012 but failed to record a catch as a rookie. He'll have to start flashing his potential in year two to avoid being labeled as a bust. |

49ers | Three WRs sit due to muscle strains Thu Aug 1, 01:03 AM
San Francisco 49ers WRs A.J. Jenkins (muscle strain), Kassim Osgood (muscle strain) and Kyle Williams (muscle strain) each missed practice Wednesday, July 31, for a second straight day due to undisclosed muscle strains suffered last week.
Footballguys view: This is not good for the 49ers. They're trying to find WR2 to start opposite of Anquan Boldin. Jenkins was their first-round pick in 2012 but failed to record a catch as a rookie. He hasn't been standing out in camp and whispers of 'bust' are floating around the facility. These guys need to get healthy and get as many reps as they possibly can to build experience with QB Colin Kaepernick. |
