The Oakland Raiders worked out free-agent SS Sherrod Martin (Panthers), WR Preston Parker (Saints), RB Bernard Scott (Bengals) and WR Demetrius Williams (Jaguars) Wednesday, Oct. 2.

Browns | Potential battle at receiver    Fri Aug 19, 10:38 PM

Cleveland Browns WRs Joshua Cribbs and Brian Robiskie have been listed as the team's starting receivers, but the two could be pushed for their starting jobs by WRs Greg Little or Mohamed Massaquoi (foot). There is an outside shot WR Jordan Norwood or Demetrius Williams could also enter the mix.

Footballguys view: This is part of the reason that Evan Moore is a great sleeper at TE if he keeps his eligibility there. The Browns certainly don't have a #1 caliber receiver right now, and they might not even have a starting quality receiver.

The Baltimore Ravens have released DB K.J. Gerard, WR Justin Harper, CB Chris Hawkins, S Brad Jones, OL Bryan Mattison, OL Joe Reitz, QB Troy Smith, RB Curtis Steele and WR Demetrius Williams.

Ravens | Demetrius Williams does well during minicamp    Mon May 10, 04:43 PM

Jamison Hensley, of The Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens WR Demetrius Williams performed well during the team's minicamp and made several big plays during practices.

Footballguys view: Williams has always been able to make big plays in camp, but his talent has just been a tease so far during his pro career. Injuries have de-railed Williams seemingly every year. If healthy he could make plays for the Ravens as their fourth-string receiver.

Ravens | Demetrius Williams, others will have to fight for roster spot    Mon Apr 26, 12:01 AM

The Baltimore Ravens are deeper at wide receiver this year than they have been in years, possibly ever, and they probably won't carry more than five receivers on their active roster entering the season, reports Jamison Hensley, of The Baltimore Sun. WRs Demetrius Williams, Marcus Smith and Justin Harper will have to fight to make the team's final roster.

Footballguys view: This assumes that free agent acquisition Donte Stallworth and fading former first-round pick Mark Clayton will make the final roster, which we aren't completely convinced of.

Ravens | Harbaugh said Williams did not earn more playing time    Thu Feb 4, 12:52 PM

Ken Murray, of The Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said WR Demetrius Williams did not do the necessary things during the season to earn more playing time. 'He's got to be able to run the kind of routes, catch the ball in pressure situations, break things off at the right depth, make the right adjustments in pressure situations, and do the kinds of things that are going to help us move the football and win games. Those other three guys did that better - offseason, training camp, throughout the year. I think we tried to put Demetrius in situations to be successful as much as we could. And we need more,' Harbaugh said.

Footballguys view: Williams has the talent to be at least a designated deep threat #3, but injuries and inconsistency have plagued his early career.

Jamison Hensley, of The Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens WR Kelley Washington (ankle) did not practice Friday, Dec. 18, and is questionable for Week 15. Head coach John Harbaugh is 'hoping' Washington can play. WR Demetrius Williams would start if Washington cannot play, and WR Justin Harper would move into the slot position.

Footballguys view: Williams becomes a deep sleeper in non-PPR leagues and TD-heavy leagues because of his ability to run until Joe Flacco's deep ball.

Edward Lee, of The Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens WRs Kelley Washington and Demetrius Williams could see more playing time in Week 14 if WR Mark Clayton (hamstring) is not able to play.

Footballguys view: Kelley Washington has played well at times during this season, but Demetrius Williams has the highest upside of these two players. Going up against the Lions this week could be the perfect cure for a passing game that needs to get back on track.

Ravens | Williams does not have any catches    Thu Sep 24, 10:42 AM

Edward Lee, of The Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens WR Demetrius Williams has not caught a pass this season but said he is not frustrated and understands the situation. 'I can't really do anything about it. It's just what the coaches have planned right now. I've just got to go with the game plan. It's not like I'm frustrated. I know what the situation is, and I'm ready to help out whenever my number is called,' Williams said.

Ravens | Down to four receivers    Mon Sep 7, 01:40 AM

Ravens | Williams currently No. 4 WR    Fri Sep 4, 11:55 AM

Jamison Hensley, of The Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens WR Demetrius Williams is currently the No. 4 wide receiver on the depth chart. WRs Derrick Mason, Mark Clayton and Kelley Washington are currently ahead of him.

Footballguys view: Williams has good upside, but has trouble staying injury free. We could see Williams take over Washington's spot on the depth chart if he can stay healthy throughout the year because he is more physically talented.

Ravens | Backup WR the biggest concern    Mon Aug 24, 05:05 PM

The Baltimore Sun wonders what are the Ravens doing at wide receiver? This remains the biggest concern of camp. Mark Clayton and Demetrius Williams, two of the top three receivers, can't stay healthy. Kelley Washington still seems more suited for special teams, and Justin Harper appears to drop as many passes as he catches. The Ravens probably will add a receiver cut by another team in September (perhaps the New York Giants' David Tyree).

Footballguys view: The Ravens' backup receivers have battled the injury bug all throughout training camp, and not one of them has emerged as a consistent target. Mark Clayton should start opposite Derrick Mason, but he struggles to stay healthy. Demetrius Williams has good upside, but injuries are also a concern for him. Kelley Washington is a savvy veteran, but an average player at best. Finally, Justin Harper might have the highest upside out of the bunch, but his hands are extremely inconsistent. The team could sign a wide receiver that is cut by another team after training camp, and there is an outside shot they may consider bringing in Brandon Marshall after originally deciding not to do so.

Jamison Hensley, from the Baltimore Sun, reports on his Twitter feed that three injured wide receivers have returned to practice: Demetrius Williams, Yamon Figurs and Biren Ealy.

Footballguys view: Demetrius Williams has a good skill set, but has struggled to stay injury-free during his pro career. If he can stay healthy he should be the 3rd WR for the Ravens in 2009.

The Carroll County Times reports WR Demetrius Williams returned to practice after missing the morning session with a minor concussion. "Demetrius landed on his head, and they held him out for the concussion issue," Harbaugh said. "They have to pass those tests."
