Colts | Indy picks up David Williams Thu Sep 19, 02:33 AM
The Indianapolis Colts signed free agent RB David Williams (Lions) to the practice squad on Wednesday, Sept. 18. To clear a spot, RB Bruce Anderson was released.
Footballguys view: Williams is a big back with good feet. He's bounced around to multiple teams in just one year as he was a seventh-round pick of the Broncos in the 2018 NFL draft. |

Broncos | Denver officially adds David Williams Fri Jul 19, 05:14 PM
Free-agent RB David Williams (Jaguars) officially signed with the Denver Broncos Friday, July 19. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Williams brings some much-needed size to the Broncos backfield behind Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman. He was a seventh-round pick of the Broncos last year but was plucked from their practice squad by the Jaguars. Now he's back in Denver and trying to make the final roster...or practice squad again. He's a big back with better footwork than some would expect for a man of his size. Williams looked good catching a few passes out of the backfield on Friday. |

Broncos | David Williams expected to join Denver Thu Jul 18, 07:40 PM
Free-agent RB David Williams (Jaguars) is expected to sign with the Denver Broncos if he is able to pass a physical, according to a source.
Footballguys view: Williams was a seventh-round pick for the Broncos in the 2018 NFL draft out of Arkansas. He didn't make the team last year but was plucked by the Jaguars off the Broncos practice squad. Williams brings much-needed size to the position behind Royce Freeman and Phillip Lindsay. He'll compete with guys like Devontae Booker, Khalfani Muhammad and Devontae Jackson for a spot on the depth chart as a No. 3 or No. 4 running back. |

Jaguars | Leonard Fournette not benched in Week 15 Mon Dec 17, 12:23 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette was not injured in Week 15 but ran only one time in the second half - for 25 yards - so the coaching staff could get a closer look at David Williams, according to head coach Doug Marrone. Fournette also served as the kickoff returner in Week 15 after not having played that role since he was a freshman in college.
Footballguys view: Williams was plucked from the Broncos practice squad earlier this year and he's an interesting prospect but there's no way he should be getting carries over Fournette. The Jaguars are a mess right now, and Fournette is no longer a lock for RB1 production when healthy. Consider him more of a RB2 against the Dolphins in Week 16. |

The Jacksonville Jaguars have declared DL Abry Jones, OG Josh Walker, SS Barry Church, CB Tre Herndon, RB David Williams, WR DJ Chark and DB C.J. Reavis inactive for Week 14.

Broncos | Two backs on the bubble in Denver Fri Jul 20, 09:40 PM
Denver Broncos RB Phillip Lindsay and RB David Williams are likely competing for one roster spot, according to Ryan O'Halloran of the Denver Post.
Footballguys view: We think Lindsay could have a strong showing in Broncos training camp that starts next week. The rookie UDFA from CU is a smaller back (190 pounds) but he runs tough and can make plays as a slot receiver too. Lindsay can contribute as a return man on special teams as well. Williams, a seventh-round pick out of Arkansas this year, is your traditional banger. A larger back (230 pounds), Williams makes his living between the tackles. Lindsay could make the 53-man roster due to his versatility while Williams may be more likely bound for the practice squad. |
