Saints | Darrel Williams joins Saints    Tue Aug 15, 12:24 AM

Free-agent RB Darrel Williams (Cardinals) signed with the New Orleans Saints Monday, Aug. 14, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: The Saints were in on Kareem Hunt earlier this month, but couldn't get him to sign, so they have turned to the versatile former LSU back. He'll help the team with Alvin Kamara suspended for the first three games and rookie third-round pick Kendre Miller dealing with a knee injury, but Williams isn't worth drafting.

Cardinals | Darrel Williams likely to return this year    Thu Nov 17, 01:55 AM

Arizona Cardinals RB Darrel Williams (hip) is expected to return from the Reserve/Injured list before the end of the season, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

Footballguys view: Williams is a talented runner who has power and can be a good receiving option out of the backfield. The team has James Conner as their starter. Behind him, rookie RB Keaontay Ingram is there to give Conner a breather if needed. Williams would compete with Ingram for that role upon his return.

Cardinals | Benjamin front-runner to back up Conner    Sun Jul 3, 05:05 PM

Josh Weinfuss, of ESPN.com, reports that RB Eno Benjamin has caught the eye of head coach Kliff Kingsbury, and that he is the lead to back up James Conner.

Footballguys view: Benjamin hasn't gotten on the field much in his first two years, but it sounds like his quickness and passing game skills have made him the favorite to take over at least part of Chase Edmonds job. Fantasy players have zeroed in on Darrel Williams as the Conner injury upside play, but it may be Benjamin. Weinfuss does write "it's up to Benjamin to continue his offseason pace and keep the job", so consider the question of who to pick up if Conner misses time (which is likely) still open and to be determined.

Cardinals | Darrel Williams officially signed    Tue May 31, 06:51 PM

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Darrel Williams (Chiefs) officially signed a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals Tuesday, May 31. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: This is a good landing spot for Williams. The veteran has always had talent, and he's gotten to showcase what he can do in spot duty for the Chiefs. Williams is a strong runner and a better-than-advertised receiver out of the backfield. Pencil him in as the no.2 back behind the oft-injured James Conner. That means he's a high-priority handcuff for Fantasy GMs or someone to put on your waiver wire speed dial in leagues without much bench space.

Cardinals | Darrel Williams headed to Arizona    Tue May 24, 01:33 PM

Free-agent RB Darrel Williams (Chiefs) reportedly agreed to terms on an undisclosed contract with the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday, May 24.

Footballguys view: Williams has good size and can grind down a defense between the tackles...kind of like Cardinals starter James Conner. We'll see if Williams can beat out rookie Keaontay Ingram for the no.2 spot on the depth chart.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Darrel Williams (toe) was limited in practice for a second consecutive day Friday, Jan. 28, and is listed as questionable for the AFC Championship game against the Cincinnati Bengals. S Tyrann Mathieu (concussion) practiced in full for a second straight day on Friday but is also listed as questionable. Jones (groin), CB L'Jarius Sneed (knee), CB Charvarius Ward (neck) and OG Andrew Wylie (elbow) practiced in full all week and no longer appear on the injury report.

Chiefs | Week 18 KC game recap    Sat Jan 8, 07:40 PM

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes passed for 270 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Denver Broncos in Week 18. He rushed for a team-high 54 yards on nine attempts. RB Darrel Williams ran seven times for 17 yards and added 30 yards on three catches before injuring his toe on the last play of the first half. He didn't return. RB Jerick McKinnon rushed eight times for 24 yards, adding three catches for 26 yards and a TD. WR Tyreek Hill (heel) played sparingly, catching one of three targets for two yards. WR Mecole Hardman played more than usual with Hill injured, catching a game-high eight passes for 103 yards. He rushed once for 10 yards. WR Byron Pringle landed five of eight targets for 56 yards. TE Travis Kelce caught four of five looks for 34 yards and a touchdown. LB Nick Bolton led the team with four solo tackles, adding two assists, and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Footballguys view: The Chiefs played their starters until the end to secure the road win and put pressure on the Titans to win today to lock up the #1 seed. Hardman finally showed something with Hill ailing because he aggravated a heel injury in warmups. They'll wait to find out who they are going to play and when.
