Cardinals | Chad Williams does not make team    Fri Aug 30, 05:06 PM

Cardinals | Chad Williams back on field    Mon Aug 5, 10:46 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Chad Williams (undisclosed) returned to practice Monday, Aug. 5, after missing around a week because of his injury.

Footballguys view: Williams will be hard pressed to make the Cardinals 53-man roster this year. They added three interesting rookie wide receivers this year (Andy Isabella, Hakeem Butler, Keesean Johnson) and the Cardinals signed veteran Michael Crabtree on Monday.

Cardinals | Chad Williams a long shot to stick    Thu Jul 11, 12:55 AM

Arizona Cardinals WR Chad Williams is unlikely to make the 53-man roster, according to The Arizona Republic's Bob McManaman, who writes that even if the team carries seven receivers it's 'doubtful' that Williams would be on the list.

Footballguys view: A third-round pick out of Grambling State in the 2017 NFL draft, Williams has had plenty of time to develop in the pros, but he's only played in 16 games over two seasons. Williams might be shopped this summer as the Cardinals are jam-packed at the WR position. Rookies KeeSean Johnson, Andy Isabella and Hakeem Butler should round out the depth chart behind Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk.

Cardinals | Chad Williams not a lock for roster    Fri Jun 28, 09:19 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Chad Williams is among the receivers who will need to impress the new coaching staff in order to make the 53-man roster, according to Kevin Zimmerman of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM.

Footballguys view: Williams is on the outside looking in with a new regime and offense taking over. He hasn't generated much buzz this spring and will have to come on strong to make the team with the three rookies, Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk taking up five spots.

Cardinals | More usage for Arizona WRs?    Sat Sep 15, 07:30 PM

Arizona Cardinals WRs Christian Kirk and Chad Williams anticipate seeing more targets in Week 2 after combining for just five said targets last week. Head coach Steve Willks said the Cardinals need to spread it around more in the passing game.

Footballguys view: Neither of these players are worth a roster spot until the Cardinals offense gets it together, but if they are making more of an impact, it will help David Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald meet expectations.

Cardinals | Chad Williams makes positive impact    Sat Aug 18, 01:31 AM

Arizona Cardinals WR Chad Williams turned heads in the preseason game Friday, Aug. 17, against the New Orleans Saints, posting three receptions for 33 yards. He and WR Christian Kirk made their presence felt, much to the delight of head coach Steve Wilks. 'I definitely did,' Wilks said. 'Those guys did a great job.'

Footballguys view: Williams has been a dynasty prospect we've been monitoring closely ever since he came out of Grambling State as a third-round pick for the Cardinals in 2017. He plays larger than his listed size (6'1" 204 pounds) and has the ball skills to make crazy catches. We'll see if the second-year pro can win the no3 job for the Cardinals in 2018.

Cardinals | Chad Williams among the starters    Sun Jul 29, 09:50 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Chad Williams was the No. 3 receiver with the first-team offense in 11-on-11 drills during training camp Sunday, July 29.

Footballguys view: Brice Butler was the #2. Second-round pick Christian Kirk and deep threat JJ Nelson will also figure into this passing game in same way. It's very possible that no Cardinals wideout other than Larry Fitzgerald has fantasy value this year.

Cardinals | Christian Kirk to have small role?    Thu Jul 19, 10:01 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Christian Kirk is not in the mix for the No. 2 receiver job, according to Mike Jurecki of 98.7 Arizona, and Jurecki believes either WR Chad Williams, WR JJ Nelson or WR Brice Butler will win the job.

Footballguys view: It's a bit disappointing for Fantasy GMs excited about the rookie from Texas A&M. We love his dynasty stock, but Kirk may not be making much of an impact as a rookie. Larry Fitzgerald is the no.1 wide receiver for the Cardinals but the depth chart is wide open behind him. Williams is considered to be a favorite for the no.2 job, while Nelson and Butler are speedy veterans who can stretch the field. The quick rookie, Kirk was taken in the second round of the 2018 NFL draft, may have to wait for a large opportunity.

Cardinals | Bigger role for Chad Williams?    Thu Jul 19, 09:54 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Chad Williams looks more confident and comfortable this offseason and is one of the players in the mix for the No. 2 receiver job, in the opinion of Mike Jurecki of 98.7 Arizona.

Footballguys view: A third-round pick out of Grambling State in the 2017 NFL draft, Williams only played 98 snaps as a rookie. This year, Williams could win the starting job opposite Larry Fitzgerald and have a breakout season. Williams is a physical receiver with the concentration, body control and quickness to excel on different route concepts.

Cardinals | Chad Williams could start     Fri Jun 22, 09:40 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Chad Williams is the player most likely to 'step forward' and win the No. 2 receiver job this season, in the opinion of Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com.

Footballguys view: A third-round pick out of Grambling State in 2017, Williams has a nice size/speed combination at 6'1" 205 pounds. Both J.J. Nelson and Brice Butler are speed guys who could work from the slot position. Rookie Christian Kirk might be the prototypical slot receiver and may emerge as the no.3 WR for the Cardinals in 2018. Williams is a prospect to continue monitoring in dynasty formats.

Cardinals | Several options for No. 2 WR job    Fri Jun 15, 07:03 PM

Arizona Cardinals WRs Chad Williams, JJ Nelson, Brice Butler, Greg Little and Christian Kirk could all be candidate for the No. 2 wide receiver job during training camp.

Footballguys view: The Cardinals have a talented group of WRs behind Larry Fitzgerald. Nelson can take the top off the defense, but so can Butler with his trademark speed. Williams has the size/speed combination to be a problem in the red zone. Kirk, the team's second-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft, is the prototypical slot receiver. We'll watch this battle unfold in training camp with Nelson perhaps having a slight edge as the incumbent.
