Giants | Pass on several RBs    Tue Nov 27, 11:03 PM

The New York Giants gave free-agent RBs Rock Cartwright (49ers), Derrick Coleman (Vikings), Ryan Grant (Redskins) and Cadillac Williams (Rams) tryouts Tuesday, Nov. 27, before settling on RBs Kregg Lumpkin and Ryan Torain.

Footballguys view: Lumpkin is a versatile back who can contribute as a runner of receiver out of the backfield. Torain is more of a banger who can grind it out between the tackles and can be effective in a one cut system.

Chargers | Likely will sign veteran RB    Sat May 19, 03:01 PM

The San Diego Chargers likely will sign a veteran free-agent running back this offseason to add depth at the position but are willing to wait until players are willing to accept the veteran minimum.

Footballguys view: The Chargers could look for help from veterans like Cadillac Williams or Jackie Battle, but are in no hurry to add another back.

Chargers | Cadillac Williams might be targeted    Wed Feb 29, 11:43 PM

The San Diego Chargers might target St. Louis Rams RB Cadillac Williams, an impending free agent, to serve as backup to starter RB Ryan Mathews.

Footballguys view: Williams is a capable veteran backup, but this move could signal a bigger role for Mathews. Dynasty owners should toss out some trade offers for the star RB.

Rams | Cadillac Williams believes he can still play    Sun Feb 12, 03:16 PM

St. Louis Rams impending free-agent RB Cadillac Williams said he believes he has a lot left in the tank and hopes his game film will interest some teams.

Footballguys view: Williams may be able to stick around in St. Louis if he doesn't find any other suitors in free agency. Jeff Fisher will implement a run heavy offense for the Rams in 2012 and could use a veteran like Williams to complement Steven Jackson.

Rams | Two RBs not expected to be back    Sat Jan 28, 11:36 AM

The St. Louis Rams are not expected to re-sign impending free-agent RBs Jerious Norwood and Cadillac Williams this offseason.

Footballguys view: Steven Jackson has been a mainstay, but the Rams have failed to find a quality backup for him for basically his entire career as a starter. There was a lot of speculation that the team would spend a quality pick on a running back last year, expect that chatter to pick up this year.

Rams | Cadillac Williams rushes for 75 yards    Sun Sep 25, 10:12 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Cadillac Williams (hamstring) had 18 carries for 75 yards in the Week 3 loss against the Baltimore Ravens, and he added a four-yard reception.

Footballguys view: Most of the production came with the game out of hand. Williams might not even be worth a roster spot now that Steven Jackson is getting healthy again.

Rams | Jerious Norwood, Quinn Porter might be top RB options    Fri Sep 23, 09:09 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson (quadriceps) is not expected to play in Week 3 against the Baltimore Ravens, and RB Cadillac Williams (hamstring) is a game-time decision. That leaves RBs Jerious Norwood and Quinn Porter as the team's top options. 'I think you have to (run the ball) in every game,' head coach Steve Spagnuolo said. 'It doesn't matter what defense you face, if it's a good run-stopping defense or they're not stopping the run real well. I think everything is more effective on offense if we're able to run the football.'

  Rams | Cadillac Williams a game-time decision    Fri Sep 23, 04:01 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Cadillac Williams (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 23. He is listed as questionable for Week 3 and will be a game-time decision. He may be active for the game but it is not known how much he could do.

Footballguys view: Jerious Norwood would get the start if Cadillac and Steven Jackson can't go. The Ravens are tough to run on anyway, so this sets up Sam Bradford for a big passing day picking on the Baltimore cornerbacks.

Rams | Cadillac Williams misses practice    Thu Sep 22, 04:39 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Cadillac Williams (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 22.

Footballguys view: This is a problem for the Rams if Steven Jackson doesn't play this week. Third-string RB Jerious Norwood is not the same player he used to be.

Rams | Cadillac Williams likely to return Thursday    Thu Sep 22, 12:15 AM

St. Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo indicated Wednesday, Sept. 21, that RB Cadillac Williams (hamstring) might return to the practice field Thursday, Sept. 22. 'I think he needed (to rest) today,' Spagnuolo said. 'Hopefully we'll get something out of him tomorrow. I'll have a better idea tomorrow and Friday.'

Footballguys view: Jerious Norwood's chances of starting just went back down, not that he would be worth a pickup to play against the Ravens.

Rams | Three miss practice    Wed Sep 21, 07:37 PM

St. Louis Rams DL C.J. Ah You (wrist), LB Ben Leber (groin) and RB Cadillac Williams (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Footballguys view: Jerious Norwood could actually be set up to start this week vs. the Ravens, but the matchup makes it hard to like playing him if that happens except in the deepest of leagues.

Rams | Steven Jackson, others day-to-day    Tue Sep 20, 04:43 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson (quadriceps) remains day-to-day. Also, LB Ben Leber (groin) and RB Cadillac Williams (hamstring) are being listed as day-to-day.

Footballguys view: Jackson would face the Ravens in his return. While the matchup is tough on the surface, if the Rams can run their hurry-up offense as well as they did between the 20s in the first quarter vs. the Giants, Jackson should have some red zone opportunities.

Rams | Cadillac Williams has rough night    Tue Sep 20, 12:04 AM

St. Louis Rams RB Cadillac Williams carried 13 times for just 36 yards in Week 2 against the New York Giants. He also posted three receptions for four yards while starting in place of the injured RB Steven Jackson (quadriceps).

Footballguys view: Williams looked like the past his prime back he was in Tampa instead of the strong north-south runner he was vs. Philadelphia in week 1. This should give you encouragement to start your RBs vs. the Eagles.

Rams | Sam Bradford posts 331 yards in Week 2    Mon Sep 19, 11:33 PM

St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford completed 22-of-46 passes for 331 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 2 against the New York Giants. He also ran three times for 15 yards, and he was credited with a fumble on a lateral in which RB Cadillac Williams dropped and then thought was an incomplete pass.

Footballguys view: Bradford was let down by his receivers for the second week in a row, especially rookie Greg Salas. He did an incredible job of avoiding sacks and shouldn't be considered a fantasy bust yet. The fast tempo established early really threw off the Giants defense. Steven Jackson's return could make Bradford a quality fantasy QB yet.

Rams | Cadillac Williams solid in Week 1     Mon Sep 12, 11:11 AM

St. Louis Rams RB Cadillac Williams totaled 140 yards of offense, including 91 yards rushing, in the team's Week 1 game in relief of RB Steven Jackson (quadriceps). Williams also had six receptions for 49 receiving yards.

Footballguys view: Williams proved to be a valuable backup as he subbed in for an injured Steven Jackson. If he's asked to be the starter Williams could be a solid RB2 in PPR leagues.

Rams | Trio of RBs battle for carries    Sun Aug 14, 01:59 AM

St. Louis Rams RBs Jerious Norwood, Keith Toston and Cadillac Williams started their battle for the primary backup job to RB Steven Jackson. Toston had 11 carries for 64 yards and a touchdown in the preseason opener Saturday, Aug. 13, against the Indianapolis Colts. Williams also saw 11 carries, finishing with 40 yards and a score. Norwood had eight carries for 37 yards, and he added two grabs for nine yards.

Footballguys view: The Rams have the best set of backup RBs they've had in a long time. This could take touches away from Steven Jackson, but on the whole, it helps Jackson's fantasy stock because it greatly increases the chances of him staying healthy and not wearing down during the season.

Rams | Cadillac Williams agrees to terms    Wed Aug 3, 05:04 PM

The St. Louis Rams have agreed to terms with free-agent RB Cadillac Williams (Buccaneers). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Rams | Hope to sign Cadillac Williams    Wed Aug 3, 11:43 AM

Updating a previous report, the St. Louis Rams hope to agree with a contract with free-agent RB Cadillac Williams (Buccaneers).

Footballguys view: Signing Williams makes a lot of sense for the Rams. He's a tough, versatile player who can help as a reserve runner or receiver out of the backfield. The Rams added Jerious Norwood yesterday, and are trying to build better depth in the RB corps behind Steven Jackson.

Rams | Cadillac Williams on radar?    Tue Aug 2, 04:57 PM

The St. Louis Rams could have interest in free-agent RB Cadillac Williams (Buccaneers).

Footballguys view: The Rams are looking for better depth behind starting RB Steven Jackson, and adding Cadillac would make a lot of sense. Williams is a tough, capable runner who looks good catching passes out of the backfield too. Adding Cadillac would make more sense then grabbing a less capable runner like Jerious Norwood.

Buccaneers | Earnest Graham could be third-down back    Mon Aug 1, 12:21 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers FB Earnest Graham is the front-runner to be the team's top backup to RB LeGarrette Blount this year. Graham could see less time at fullback as a result. Offensive coordinator Greg Olson said he has a lot of confidence in Graham and trusts him. He said if the season were to start today, Graham would be the team's third-down back. RB Kregg Lumpkin is also in the mix, and the team could always decide to re-sign free-agent RB Cadillac Williams. 'I know Earnest can handle the third down role. We'll see if Kregg can do that, too,' Olson said.

Buccaneers | Cadillac Williams still on radar    Sun Jul 31, 04:10 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris indicated the team still has interest in re-signing free-agent RB Cadillac Williams.

Footballguys view: Williams was clutch for the team on many occasions and they don't have a healthy third-down back on the roster, so we're not sure why they have been so reluctant to bring him back.

Buccaneers | Some not enthusiastic about bringing back Cadillac Williams    Fri Jul 8, 03:43 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik and head coach Raheem Morris were said not to be enthusiastic about re-signing RB Cadillac Williams when they had meetings before the draft.

Footballguys view: Williams may be at the end of the better part of his career, but he was a very reliable third-down and two minute drill back last year. If they can get another swiss army knife like Brandon Jackson in free agency, Williams becomes expendable, but they don't have that player on the roster right now.

Buccaneers | Cadillac hopes to be back    Tue May 31, 01:05 PM

Anwar Richardson, from the Tampa Tribune, reports veteran RB Cadillac Williams hopes to return to the Buccaneers this year. "Tampa is a very special place for me," Williams said. "This is the team that drafted me. It's a team that has been through the good times and bad times with me. At the lowest point of my career, the organization was definitely behind me. I've grown accustomed to the area and living here. Tampa is a great city, great place and most of all, a really great place to play. It's definitely a place I would love to play and finish out my career, but only time will tell."

Footballguys view: Williams makes for a nice change of pace back behind LeGarrette Blount and could decide to stick around in Tampa Bay. However, other teams like the Rams may be interested in him as a third-down back.

Rams | Could show interest in Cadillac Williams    Mon May 23, 02:01 PM

The St. Louis Rams could show interest in Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent RB Cadillac Williams once the lockout is over.

Footballguys view: The Rams did not add a RB in the 2011 NFL Draft, and are still on the lookout for a quality backup behind Steven Jackson. Williams could give the team quality veteran depth and can be relied on as a good receiver out of the backfield.

Buccaneers | Draft will dictate how team feels about Kareem Huggins    Fri Apr 15, 10:44 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Kareem Huggins (knee) had complete reconstructive knee surgery, and he might not be an NFL caliber running after the injury, reports Roy Cummings, of The Tampa Tribune. The feeling is that if the Buccaneers draft a running back early, they might not be confident Huggins will return, and they might also fear losing RB Cadillac Williams to free agency. If they draft an RB late, or not at all, that might mean confidence is high that Huggins will be back at a high level.

Footballguys view: Seeing as Huggins has done nothing on the field, the Bucs would be remiss if they passed on a player like Kendall Hunter or Jacquizz Rodgers in the mid-rounds. Even if Huggins gets back to 100%, having at least three viable backs would be a nice luxury for the team.

Buccaneers | Would like to re-sign Cadillac Williams    Sun Feb 20, 03:34 PM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers would like to re-sign impending free-agent RB Cadillac Williams this offseason because he has performed well as a third-down back, reports Rick Stroud, of the St. Petersburg Times.

Footballguys view: Williams may want to leave via free agency if he wants a bigger role on offense. The Bucs are going to use second-year RB LeGarrette Blount as their primary back, with someone like Kareem Huggins (if Caddy leaves) as the third-down change of pace back.
