NFL | Roddy White talking to teams    Tue Jul 26, 03:15 PM

Free-agent WR Roddy White (Falcons) wants to play this season and is in contact with a few teams, according to a source.

Footballguys view: There can't be that many teams interested in White at this point of his career. He's nowhere near the player he used to be, but there might be a squad interested in adding veteran depth.

NFL | WR Roddy White plans to play in 2016    Sat Jul 9, 07:25 PM

Former Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White says he plans to play in 2016 according to Jarvis Davis from CBS Atlanta. "I wanna play for a winner, so, you know, if it comes down to it and I have to wait... to get on a team that's winning, then I'll do that." White said in the interview.

Footballguys view: The ole 'veteran wants to play for a winner' take coming from White, but after a disappointing season with the Falcons in 2015 we can't imagine teams lined up around the block to sign him. Perhaps he could latch on with someone in training camp. White insists Falcons OC Kyle Shanahan's offense was the problem--and not his declining skill set. We're pretty sure he's not the same player he used to be and White is unlikely to have any fantasy value no matter where he signs.

NFL | Contend or retire for Roddy White    Thu Jun 9, 12:42 PM

Free-agent WR Roddy White (Falcons) wants to sign with a contender for the Super Bowl or he could retire. White said he would let it go to maybe Week 4 or Week 5, and he would retire after that.

Footballguys view: If anything, he'll sign for a little money as depth. So you don't have to worry where he lands as he is unlikely to provide any fantasy value.

Falcons | Roddy White rips former coordinator     Sat Mar 5, 10:23 PM

Free-agent WR Roddy White (Flacons) said he and Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan were not on the same page, and White questioned Shanahan's system. 'It wasn't sound football, but it was things that he was used to doing and things we weren't used to doing as an offense, and it literally cost us like two games,' White said Saturday, March 5.

Footballguys view: Bitter much? White just doesn't look good ripping Shanahan here. The team wasn't used to doing things like Shanahan wanted, but that's why they were learning. White is not the same player he used to be, but there might be some team out there willing to bring him on for a cheap price.

NFL | Roddy White wants to keep playing    Thu Mar 3, 12:18 PM

Free-agent WR Roddy White (Falcons) said he wants to play in the NFL for 'another year or two.' His release from the Atlanta Falcons saved them $2,362,500 against the salary cap in 2016. White caught just 43 passes for 506 yards and one touchdown on 67 targets in 2015.

Footballguys view: The key will be what he costs. We know he has very little left in the tank, so he has to come at a reduced rate. Wherever he ends up though, his fantasy impact is likely to be very small.

NFL | Other options for Roddy White    Wed Mar 2, 07:45 PM

Free-agent WR Roddy White (Falcons) could draw interest from the Tennessee Titans and Oakland Raiders in addition to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. White has connections with Titans head coach Mike Mularkey and offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie and with Raiders offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave, each of whom used to coach in some capacity in Atlanta.

Footballguys view: White has seen three seasons of sub-1,000 yards production, and saw his targets fall by half last season. We don't expect him to have a huge impact in any new offense regardless of the scheme he lands in.

Buccaneers | Roddy White of interest to Bucs?    Wed Mar 2, 06:21 PM

Free-agent WR Roddy White (Falcons) could be targeted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in light of his release from the Atlanta Falcons. White's former offensive coordinator with the Falcons, Dirk Koetter, is now the head coach of the Buccaneers.

Footballguys view: If he does go to Tampa Bay, he won't likely be a huge contributor. He'll be too far down on the depth chart to really produce.

Falcons | Roddy White leaves mark on Atlanta    Wed Mar 2, 05:49 PM

Free-agent WR Roddy White (Falcons) is the Atlanta Falcons franchise record holder in catches (808), receiving yards (10,863), scrimmage yards (10,882), receiving touchdowns (63) and total touchdowns (63).

Footballguys view: An amazing piece of the Falcons' recent history, White isn't what he once was but Falcons fans have plenty of good things to remember him by. We don't expect him to do much if he lands elsewhere as he is long past his effective prime.

Falcons | Roddy White released    Wed Mar 2, 04:50 PM

Falcons | Roddy White not contacted by Atlanta    Tue Feb 23, 02:40 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White has not spoken with anybody from the Atlanta organization or been given clarity about anything regarding his future with the Falcons. White did reiterate that he wants to stay with the Falcons and would view leaving Atlanta as a tragedy.

Footballguys view: It would be cool to see White finish his career with the Falcons, but that's no guarantee. White said he wasn't interested in a pay cut to remain with the Falcons. He's due $4.25 million in 2016 and will count $6 million against the salary cap. We think it's unlikely he returns at that price, and if he won't take a pay cut then he's likely to be cut.

Falcons | Roddy White has support from owner    Sun Feb 7, 09:45 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White would finish his career with the team if owner Arthur Blank had his way, but Blank said the final decision on White's future will be made by head coach Dan Quinn.

Footballguys view: White has said he's not interested in taking a pay cut to remain with the Falcons. He's due $4.25 million in 2016 and will count $6,043,750 against the salary cap. At this point in his career, we're not sure the Falcons would keep him around at that price.

Falcons | Roddy White staying in Atlanta?    Fri Feb 5, 09:09 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White was praised by head coach Dan Quinn, and the team is leaning toward keeping White on the team in 2016. 'We are still going through it,' Quinn said Thursday, Feb. 4. 'We're getting there. We are not there yet, but we're getting close.'

Footballguys view: Second-year receiver Justin Hardy could inherit a big opportunity if White is jettisoned and White's fantasy value has diminished to the point that he still wouldn't draw interest in fantasy leagues even if he returns to Atlanta and starts opposite Julio Jones.

Falcons | No decision yet on Roddy White    Fri Jan 29, 09:47 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White's future with the team has not yet been decided, according to general manager Thomas Dimitroff.

Footballguys view: White is looking at a likely pay cut if he's even going to make the team. He's got a $4.25 million cap number in 2016, and White has previously stated that he is unwilling to take a pay cut. He's not the same player he used to be, and we'd be shocked if they kept White on the roster with his current price tag.

Falcons | Roddy White won't take pay cut    Tue Jan 5, 12:43 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White said he wasn't interested in a pay cut to remain with the Falcons. He's due $4.25 million in 2016 and will count $6,043,750 against the salary cap.

Footballguys view: There's $3.7 million left in dead money on White's current contract which goes through 2017. If he won't take a pay cut, then perhaps White will be playing elsewhere in 2016.

Falcons | Devonta Freeman, Roddy White limited    Thu Dec 31, 03:23 PM

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) and WR Roddy White (ankle) were limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 31.

Footballguys view: In the "Who Really Cares Bowl" (we really do think there are too many bowl games), Freeman should get plenty of run and provide RB1 numbers but White has no fantasy value at all.

Falcons | Roddy White wants to stay    Wed Dec 30, 05:35 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White said he would like to remain with the Falcons as long as he is under contract, despite the fact that his role has diminished under new offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan this year.

Footballguys view: White is signed through the 2017 season and remains the franchise's all-time leading receiver with 807 catches for 10,853 yards and 63 touchdowns. He has only 42 catches for 496 yards and one score this season in what has been a disappointing year for the seasoned veteran.

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (ankle) was not practicing Wednesday, Dec. 30.

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White had the first two plays of the game Sunday, Nov. 22, designed for him, according to QB Matt Ryan.

Footballguys view: White has been upset with his role in the offense this year, but he's not producing when given a chance. He was targeted nine times against the Colts, but White only snared four passes for 24 yards. Fantasy owners should have moved on a long time ago.

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White remains an 'important part of the team and will continue to get opportunities in the second half of 2015,' according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners should have moved on from White as he's struggled to make any sort of impact this season. This sounds more like lip service from Quinn than it does any sort of plan to force-feed White the rock.

Falcons | Roddy White wants the ball more    Mon Nov 9, 01:49 AM

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White said Sunday, Nov. 8, that he wants more chances to make plays. He was held to one catch for 20 yards in the Week 9 game against the San Francisco 49ers. 'I would like to be more involved in the offense but it is what it is,' White said. 'I'm going to go out there and run the plays that are called and block as hard as I can and help my team win.'

Footballguys view: We're not expecting the Falcons to respond to White's request. Fantasy owners should have moved on from him for other/better wide receiver options out there.

Atlanta Falcons WRs Leonard Hankerson (hamstring, ribs) and Roddy White (foot) were limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 22.

Footballguys view: We'll keep an eye on this. White has been a non-factor and after a hot start, Hankerson has been shaky. Hankerson is no more than a low-end WR4 and White isn't even that.

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (foot) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White caught his first touchdown of the season, finishing with three catches for 23 yards in a 31-21 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 6.

Footballguys view: White caught an early score, but he is still done for fantasy as far as we are concerned. He might continue to do enough to mute Leonard Hankerson's production.

Falcons | Roddy White not seeing targets    Thu Oct 15, 12:20 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White has played the most offensive snaps (305) of any wide receiver in the league, but he is the fifth-most targeted player on his own team, and he's on pace for his worst statistical season in his career and hasn't caught a touchdown in seven straight games.

Footballguys view: He's been supplanted by Leonard Hankerson overall and last week he was out-targeted by tight end Jacob Tamme. Age has definitely slowed him and it's clear the Falcons are content to let him fade into the background. He's no better than a WR5/WR6 and not worth starting unless you are desperate.

Falcons | Roddy White on trade block?    Sun Oct 11, 10:19 AM

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White is receiving interest from at least three teams looking to acquire him before the trade deadline. The team may consider moving him if WR Leonard Hankerson makes more plays in the upcoming weeks. It may be hard for the team to trade White since he is scheduled to make $5 million this season and they are not expected to take on any of that money.

Footballguys view: Julio Jones hamstring issues would make this a very risky move for the 4-0 Falcons. Expect White to stay put and possibly even have a larger role going forward.

Falcons | Roddy White should be in uniform    Fri Oct 9, 05:47 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 9, and is listed as probable for the Week 5 game against the Washington Redskins.

Footballguys view: White had an up-and-down week. It started with F-bombs and unhappiness with his lack of targets. Then, rumors swirled about White being open to a trade. Yesterday, things calmed down as White said he's comfortable with his role on offense. We'll see if the Falcons make an effort to get White more involved against Washington on Sunday.

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White met with head coach Dan Quinn Thursday, Oct. 8, and said he is encouraged about his role and is taking a positive attitude into the Week 5 matchup against the Washington Redskins.

Footballguys view: White could have a bounceback "narrative" driven game to get him back involved, but he's only end of the bench depth, if that, now that Leonard Hankerson has emerged.

Falcons | Roddy White takes part in practice    Thu Oct 8, 04:20 PM

Correcting a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (non-injury) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 8. White did miss practice Wednesday, Oct. 7, because of a personal matter.

Footballguys view: White is definitely behind Leonard Hankerson in the pecking order right now, though the team has promised to up his targets. We'll believe it when we see it though. Hankerson is a solid WR3, but White remains a distant WR6 at best until we see improvement.

Falcons | Roddy White out of practice    Thu Oct 8, 01:01 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White missed practice Thursday, Oct. 8, to be with his mother, who was having surgery.

Footballguys view: Certainly nothing anyone will hold against him. He also reportedly had a meeting with head coach Dan Quinn to 'clear the air' about his dissatisfaction. That said, the emergence of Leonard Hankerson and the continued awesomeness of Julio Jones (as well as White's advancing age) keep White's ceiling low and we see him as no more than a WR7 this week.

Falcons | Roddy White sits out of practice    Wed Oct 7, 05:22 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Footballguys view: A day to rest and maybe think about priorities after his mini-rant? The team promises to get him more involved but if Leonard Hankerson is healthy, that might not amount to much. White is no more than a WR5/WR6 right now.

Falcons | Roddy White to see more looks?    Wed Oct 7, 03:26 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White, who was excused from practice for personal reasons Wednesday, Oct. 7, could see more looks in the near future after he expressed concern for his lack of catches this week. 'He's somebody that we think the world of and think a ton of. The (opportunities) will be there, although they weren't in some of the games. We certainly think that they will be moving forward,' head coach Dan Quinn said.

Footballguys view: It's always amazing when a player complains as his team is winning and winning big. It's very hard to put aside ego, especially for veterans who are not happy to be pushed aside to begin with. White is no better than a WR5 right now, and we won't expect more than that from him anytime soon.

Falcons | Roddy White keeping his cool    Tue Oct 6, 04:55 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White said there's nothing to get mad about in regards to his slow start this season. White said all he can do is run the routes he's supposed to run and do his job. He added that he knows he'll get his chances because of how defenses will play against their offense. White's streak of 130 games with a catch ended in Week 4.

Footballguys view: Keeping his cool? The last White story we commented on had him dropping a couple of "F-bombs" due to his decreased role on offense. We'll see if the team makes an emphasis on getting him the ball in Week 5 against Washington.

'For me, at the end of the day, I want to catch passes,' White said. 'I'm not out here just f---ing around just to sit around to just block f---ing people all day. It's not what I want to do.'

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White had his streak of 130 straight games with a catch snapped in Week 2, but he said he is not worried about his role and will do whatever he needs to do to help the team win.

Footballguys view: It's hard to go back to White against Dallas today unless you really don't have any other options. If he has a second bad week in a row, it might take two good weeks in a row to trust him again. Leonard Hankerson could be assuming his role as the second target in the offense, even if he doesn't overtake White as a starter.

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White hauled in four receptions for 84 yards in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles Monday, Sept. 14. He was targeted eight times.

Footballguys view: This is what we should see from White going forward. The production level makes him flex worth every week, but he's not the WR2 that he used to be. White has been dinged up, so make sure to monitor his practice status each week before you put him in the lineup.
