Panthers | Fozzy Whittaker placed on IR    Thu May 10, 03:21 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Thursday, May 10, after he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during a non-contact drill Monday, May 7.

Footballguys view: Whittaker was a 'break lass in case of emergency' option, so we're not losing much here unless of course, an emergency occurs. Christian McCaffrey and former Broncos back C.J. Anderson will take the lead. Anderson will see more work on early and non-passing downs, though McCaffrey put on muscle this offseason, so he could see more carries than he did in 2017. We'll watch this closely during camp.

Panthers | Fozzy Whittaker lost in the shuffle?    Thu Jul 6, 09:29 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker will likely provide depth but could have trouble seeing touches as long as RB Christian McCaffrey is healthy, according to Max Henson of Panthers.com.

Footballguys view: Whittaker was the team's best receiving back in previous years, but now he is contending with one of the best receiving backs in the league. He'll be injury depth if he makes the team.

Panthers | CAR to use RB committee    Wed Sep 21, 10:32 AM

Carolina Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker, RB Cameron Artis-Payne and FB Mike Tolbert will split carries by committee with RB Jonathan Stewart (hamstring) out, according to offensive coordinator Mike Shula.

Footballguys view: This is a situation most fantasy owners should avoid. However, if you were hit hard by RB injuries (too many to list) then perhaps you could throw a dart for last week's leading rusher Fozzy Whittaker.

Panthers | Fozzy Whittaker the main back    Tue Sep 20, 04:41 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker was in on 49 offensive snaps in Week 2 in light of RB Jonathan Stewart's (hamstring) early exit. RB Cameron Artis-Payne did not receive any snaps.

Footballguys view: That was last week when Artis-Payne was inactive. This week it may be different. Artis-Payne has been inactive in the first two games of the year, but he could see the field with Stewart down. No Panthers RB is worth taking much of a flier on really. Whittaker and Artis-Payne could split carries, then add in fullback Mike Tolbert's red-zone and goal-line opportunities, then account for QB Cam Newton's rushing prowess and you can see how not much could be there.

Panthers | Fozzy Whittaker fills in admirably    Sun Sep 18, 09:11 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker (concussion) left the Week 2 game against the San Francisco 49ers briefly to be evaluated for concussion. He passed tests and finished with 16 carries for 100 yards.

Footballguys view: Whittaker did well against a gassed 49ers defense, but the Vikings next week will be a different story. He's only a flex play and not a high priority waiver pickup being third in line for goal line carries and likely sharing with two backs.

Panthers | Fozzy Whittaker briefly leaves game    Sun Sep 18, 02:26 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker (head) briefly left the team's Week 2 game and was evaluated for a concussion but was able to return to the game.

Footballguys view: Whittaker may be a pickup in deep leagues if Jonathan Stewart is out for next week's game against the Vikings, but Week 2 healthy scratch Cameron Artis-Payne and fullback Mike Tolbert will also play roles in the backfield.

Panthers | Two Panthers backs ease in    Fri Jan 29, 11:33 AM

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (rest) and RB Mike Tolbert (knee) did little-to-no work at practice Friday, Jan. 29, but RB Fozzy Whittaker (ankle) returned to practice.

Footballguys view: The duo has some time to rest before things ramp up. Super Bowl 50 features the Panthers going up against a tough Broncos run defense. We're not expecting a ton from either back, and there's a chance that QB Cam Newton could finish the game as the team's leading rusher.

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (rest), RB Mike Tolbert (knee) and RB Fozzy Whittaker (ankle) were out of practice again Thursday, Jan. 28.

Footballguys view: Mostly this is just a rest day for each of them. With more than a week before the Super Bowl, there's no problem with any of the three missing a practice or two.

Panthers | Fozzy Whittaker tweaked his ankle    Tue Jan 26, 07:44 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker (ankle) tweaked his sprained ankle in the NFC Championship game, but he is expected to be fine for Super Bowl 50, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Footballguys view: Whittaker shouldn't get much work in Super Bowl 50 against the Broncos. We're not counting on him to do much in the game. First, the Broncos defense is tremendous at stopping the run. Second, Whittaker is serving as a backup behind Jonathan Stewart. It could be a long day for the Panthers if they force things on the ground against the Broncos.

Carolina Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker (ankle) is probable for the NFC Championship game Sunday, Jan. 24, against the Arizona Cardinals.

Panthers | Full practice for Fozzy Whittaker    Thu Jan 21, 03:39 PM

Panthers | Fozzy Whittaker should be available    Wed Jan 20, 05:26 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker (ankle) should be able to play in the NFC Championship against the Arizona Cardinals, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Panthers | Fozzy Whittaker ruled out    Fri Jan 15, 12:07 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker (ankle) was ruled out for the divisional game against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday, Jan. 17.

Panthers | Fozzy Whittaker out again    Thu Jan 14, 02:44 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker (ankle) missed practice for the second straight day Thursday, Jan. 14, and head coach Ron Rivera doesn't expect Whittaker to return in the divisional round against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday, Jan. 17.

Footballguys view: This will be Jonathan Stewart's backfield and he should see a lot of use against Seattle this weekend. We expect him to have a decent day and be a solid starter in fantasy contests.

Panthers | Fozzy Whittaker not expected to play    Wed Jan 13, 02:53 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker (ankle) is expected to miss the divisional round game against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday, Jan. 17.

Panthers | Fozzy Whittaker not practicing    Wed Jan 13, 01:40 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker (ankle) is out of practice Wednesday, Jan. 13, as he continues to deal with a high ankle sprain.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart, Ted Ginn will practice    Mon Jan 11, 12:42 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (foot) and WR Ted Ginn Jr. (knee) will both be on the practice field Wednesday, Jan. 13, according to head coach Ron Rivera. Both Stewart and Ginn missed Week 17 but are expected to play against the Seattle Seahawks in the divisional round. RB Fozzy Whittaker (ankle) is a question mark.

Footballguys view: We should see the return of Stewart this week. He hasn't played since Week 14 as he's been recovering from this foot injury. Stewart should be the lead back for the team as they face a tough Seahawks defense. Ginn needs to be on the field to give the team a deep threat against one of the league's best secondaries.
