Steelers | James Washington out a few weeks    Wed Oct 9, 09:38 AM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR James Washington (shoulder) is expected to miss a few weeks due to a shoulder injury.

Footballguys view: Washington had a season-high three catches for 52 yards before leaving the Week 5 game against the Ravens with this shoulder injury. Without him on the field, the Steelers should turn to Johnny Holton and Ryan Switzer as the No. 3 and No. 4 options at the wide receiver position.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR James Washington caught four of his five passes for 84 yards and a touchdown in a 30-28 preseason win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Friday, Aug. 9.

Footballguys view: Washington was failing to stand out in camp and most reports had him running behind Donte Moncrief and even Diontae Johnson going into this game. If he had to make a statement, he certainly did. Washington is back to being the preferred Steelers WR2 candidate in drafts.

Steelers | Diontae Johnson could be No. 3 WR    Thu Aug 8, 09:27 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Diontae Johnson is challenging WR James Washington for the No. 3 receiver job, according to Amber Theoharis of NFL.com.

Footballguys view: Washington is not going to be the #2 and now the #3 job is not assured. He's not worth a pick in typical redraft leagues until he starts to generate momentum.

Steelers | James Washington could surprise    Mon Jul 8, 02:54 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR James Washington 'will sneak up on people this year,' according to teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Footballguys view: Washington has a skill set that reminds some of former Dolphins wide receiver Chris Chambers because of his wingspan and ball-tracking ability. Behind Smith-Schuster there is a vacuum at the Steelers WR position. Guys like Washington, Donte Moncrief and rookie Diontae Johnson (don't forget Ryan Switzer too) will compete for snaps, time and targets.

Steelers | Donte Moncrief listed as No. 3 receiver    Sun Jun 30, 10:17 AM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Donte Moncrief is currently slotted as the team's No. 3 receiver and could move up or down the depth chart depending on the development of WRs James Washington and Diontae Johnson.

Footballguys view: This will be a fluid situation in camp and a tough one to project, as Vance McDonald could be as high as #2 in the pecking order for targets and the team could also carve out a larger role in the passing game for Jaylen Samuels. Right now Washington is probably the best one to draft of the trio, but the situation could settle into a wide receiver by committee and keep any of them from having consistent value.

Steelers | James Washington to play lighter in 2019    Thu May 9, 02:07 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR James Washington has reportedly 'slimmed down' this offseason and is expected to play around 210 pounds this season, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Footballguys view: Hopefully Washington's lighter weight will help him play better. As a rookie, Washington only had 16 catches for 217 yards and one touchdown. He's got better talent than that stat line shows. With Antonio Brown gone to the Raiders, Washington has a chance to earn the no.2 spot for the Steelers opposite JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Steelers | Coach expects more from James Washington    Mon Apr 22, 08:00 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR James Washington will have a bigger role in the passing game in 2019, and head coach Mike Tomlin said he expects great things from Washington.

Footballguys view: Washington has talent but didn't flash much as a rookie in 2018. He's got long arms and great ball-tracking ability which can be featured on big throws down the field. With Antonio Brown (Raiders) traded away, the Steelers are looking for talent to elevate at the wide receiver position behind JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Steelers | James Washington in line for bigger role?    Fri Feb 15, 10:25 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR James Washington will be 'sitting pretty' to become the No. 2 receiver if WR Antonio Brown doesn't return to the team in 2019.

Footballguys view: Washington does a good job of tracking deep passes and can make plays at the catch point. He does need to work on his consistency because he had an up-and-down rookie season in 2018.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR James Washington caught five passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns in a 51-34 preseason loss to the Green Bay Packers Thursday, Aug. 16.

Footballguys view: Washington was very impressive on contested balls, which has been his strength in college and in camp so far this summer. He is pushing for the third wide receiver role, one that would make him rosterable in the Steelers offense and startable in deep leagues when the matchup dictates it, such as in Week 1 against Cleveland.
