Giants | Danny Ware works out    Tue Oct 15, 09:04 AM

The New York Giants worked out free-agent RB Danny Ware (Buccaneers).

Footballguys view: The Giants need bodies at the running back position. They currently only have one healthy back, Michael Cox. They're looking for depth behind starter Brandon Jacobs.

Buccaneers | Waived D.J. Ware    Thu Apr 4, 05:39 PM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers waived Danny Ware Thursday, April. 4.

Footballguys view: Ware didn't get used much last year behind starter Doug Martin. He's a good third down back and should be able to latch on with a RB needy team.

Buccaneers | Running back carries split based on feel    Thu Sep 6, 03:37 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano said that carries between RBs Doug Martin, LeGarrette Blount and Danny Ware will be split based on a 'feeling.'

Footballguys view: The 'feeling' will be "Wow, Doug Martin's damn good!" In this run heavy Greg Schiano system we think Martin will be the lead back with Blount serving as the battering ram when the team is trying to milk a lead. Martin is a three down back who can be a good receiver out of the backfield.

Buccaneers | Coach has a comfort level with Danny Ware    Thu Sep 6, 02:07 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan has a comfort level with RB Danny Ware from their time together with the New York Giants. 'He's hitting the ground running,' Sullivan said. 'I certainly have a comfort level being with him all those years in New York in pressure situations - third down, two-minute, etc.'

Buccaneers | Danny Ware signed    Sat Sep 1, 08:08 PM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed free-agent RB Danny Ware (Giants) Saturday, Sept. 1.

Footballguys view: Ware gives the team veteran depth behind Doug Martin and LeGarrette Blount. He can help the team as a runner or receiver out of the backfield.

Giants | 13 players released    Fri Aug 31, 01:03 PM

The New York Giants have released DT Marcus Thomas, DE Matt Broha, WR Isaiah Stanback, TE Larry Donnell, LB Jake Muasau, LB Greg Jones II, OT Matt McCants, DE Craig Marshall, WR David Douglas, WR Dan DePalma, OT Selvish Capers, RB Danny Ware and DT Dwayne Hendricks.

Footballguys view: Ware has been with the Giants for five years and both Super Bowl titles. His release makes David Wilson the primary backup/committee partner with Ahmad Bradshaw, and also means Andre Brown has possibly come back far enough from his achilles tear to be worth a roster spot.

Giants | Danny Ware the third-down RB?    Thu Aug 30, 09:10 AM

The New York Giants have been using RB Danny Ware as the third-down back this preseason, even with RB David Wilson in the lineup, which likely signals what the team thinks about Ware - and maybe Wilson - in pass protection.

Footballguys view: This is common with rookie RBs. Wilson will have to prove himself in pass protection if he wants to see the field on third-downs.

Giants | David Wilson with first team again    Tue Aug 21, 08:15 PM

New York Giants RB David Wilson ran with the first-team offense for the second straight day Tuesday, Aug. 21. He has been impressive in camp and appears to be ahead of RBs Danny Ware, Andre Brown and Da'Rel Scott on the depth chart. RB Ahmad Bradshaw (hand) has practiced the last two days, but it's unknown if he'll play in the preseason game against the Chicago Bears Friday, Aug. 24.

Footballguys view: Wilson has the ability to be a star in this league. If Bradshaw goes down with an injury during the regular season then Wilson could put up RB2 (with upside) numbers for your fantasy team. All Bradshaw owners need to handcuff Wilson in the eighth or ninth-round.

Giants | Pecking order at RB revealed    Sat Jul 28, 01:30 AM

New York Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw is at the top of the pecking order at running back in training camp, followed by RB Danny Ware, Andre Brown, Da'Rel Scott and David Wilson.

Footballguys view: Wilson may be fifth on the depth chart right now but that won't last for long. We like Wilson's ability to be a full time starter if given the opportunity. He reminds many in the scouting community of Chiefs' RB Jamaal Charles and led the NCAA last year in yards after contact. With Bradshaw's injury history there's a good chance Wilson will get to start at some point this year.

Giants | Veteran RBs doing little to distinguish themselves    Wed Jul 25, 10:25 PM

New York Giants RBs Andre Brown, Da'Rel Scott and Danny Ware have done little to distinguish themselves in the race for the primary backup job to RB Ahmad Bradshaw. They'll have rookie RB David Wilson pushing them for the job in training camp and the preseason.

Footballguys view: Brown is trying to come all the way back from an achilles tear, Scott is a change of pace speed back, and Ware is at third-down back at best. First-round pick David Wilson shouldn't have any trouble overcoming them.

Giants | Danny Ware may have edge for No. 2 RB job    Thu Jul 5, 02:49 PM

New York Giants RB Danny Ware may have an advantage over RB David Wilson for the No. 2 running back spot entering training camp because of his experience in the offense. If Ware does get the job, the team will wait to give Wilson the job until they trust that he is ready to handle to role.

Footballguys view: Wilson is more gifted than Ware, but the rookie will have to prove that he's capable in pass protection before he sees a lot of playing time. Last year Wilson led the NCAA in yards after contact and reminds many in the scouting community of the Chiefs Jamaal Charles.

Giants | Andre Brown's suspension might change draft plan    Sat Mar 31, 10:40 PM

The New York Giants learned RB Andre Brown will be suspended four games for violating the league policy on performance-enhancing substances late this week. After RB Ahmad Bradshaw, they have RBs Danny Ware and Da'Rel Scott on the roster. Brown was expected to have a chance to compete for the No. 2 job, replacing the departed RB Brandon Jacobs (49ers). The team is now likely to have to draft a running back, or sign a cheap option via free agency.

New York Giants RB Danny Ware (concussion) had five carries for 23 yards in Week 12 against the New Orleans Saints Monday, Nov. 28, and he added eight receptions for 45 yards.

Footballguys view: Ware did all of his damage in garbage time, so he might be a good desperation play in PPR leagues, since the Giants face another offensive juggernaut (the Packers) this week.

Giants | Brandon Jacobs, Danny Ware expected to see most time    Wed Nov 16, 09:49 PM

It appears New York Giants RB Brandon Jacobs will make another start in Week 11 against the Philadelphia Eagles, with RB Danny Ware also seeing playing time. RB Da'Rel Scott might also be in the mix for touches, assuming RB Ahmad Bradshaw (foot) is unable to go.

Footballguys view: Jacobs is a solid play against an Eagles team that might be without Michael Vick. The RB position is thin right now, so Jacobs owners should feel lucky to have him.

Giants | Brandon Jacobs mostly held in check    Sun Nov 13, 09:31 PM

New York Giants RB Brandon Jacobs carried 18 times for 55 yards in Week 10 against the San Francisco 49ers, and he added two grabs for 17 yards. He made another start with RB Ahmad Bradshaw (foot) inactive again. RB Danny Ware posted nine carries for 34 yards, and added 34 yards on five receptions.

Footballguys view: The 49ers still haven't allowed a rushing TD or a 100-yard game to an RB. Beanie Wells will be their next victim in week 11.

Giants | Two vying for primary return duties    Thu Nov 10, 12:11 AM

New York Giants RBs Da'Rel Scott and Danny Ware are considered the leading candidates for kickoff return duties heading into Week 10 against the San Francisco 49ers, as WR Devin Thomas has been removed from those duties.

Footballguys view: Scott could be the better option here because of his long speed.

Giants | Danny Ware, Da'Rel Scott could be pressed into service    Thu Nov 3, 02:35 PM

New York Giants RBs Danny Ware and Da'Rel Scott are likely to see their workload increase with RB Ahmad Bradshaw (foot) out indefinitely. Ware will likely be a third-down option behind RB Brandon Jacobs. Scott hasn't had a rushing attempt all year.

Footballguys view: If Bradshaw needs surgery we could see more from Ware and Scott. Ware is a better inside runner, but Scott is a big play back waiting to happen. We've always loved his dynasty prospects, and believe him to be the better addition out of the two. Scott flashed his big play ability several times during the preseason, including a 97-yard TD run against the Bears.

Giants | Danny Ware signs extension    Wed Mar 2, 03:56 PM

The New York Giants have signed RB Danny Ware to a two-year contract extension, a source told Ralph Vacchiano, of the New York Daily News. The deal is worth around $2 million with incentives and bonuses.

Footballguys view: Ware is a very talented backup, but has been lost in the shuffle behind Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs. With Bradshaw potentially moving on in free agency, the team is getting insurance with Ware.

Giants | Happy with RB rotation in Week 12    Mon Nov 29, 12:55 PM

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said he was happy with how the team rotated RBs Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw and Danny Ware during their Week 12 game, reports Mike Garafolo, of The Star-Ledger. Jacobs was on the field for five more plays than Bradshaw. Jacobs rushed for 87 yards in the game while Bradshaw rushed for 49 yards and caught four passes for 34 yards.

Giants | Danny Ware could get carries Week 12    Wed Nov 24, 12:51 PM

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin indicated that RB Danny Ware could see carries in the team's Week 12 game, reports Ralph Vacchiano, of the New York Daily News.

Footballguys view: Danny Ware is a talented back who happens to be the Giants third-string runner. He's strong between the tackles, but has enough speed and quickness to bounce a run outside once he gets to the second level. His carries may cut into what Ahmad Bradshaw does going forward.

Giants | Danny Ware could see more work    Tue Nov 9, 01:27 PM

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said RB Danny Ware could see more work in the backfield after he impressed in Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks, according to the New York Post's Paul Schwartz. Ware could save some wear and tear on RBs Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs. 'Perhaps we can balance this thing out to where all of our runners can finish the season on a very high level because they've had a chance to carry the ball in each and every game,' Coughlin said.
