NFL | Mark Walton suspended eight games    Sat Nov 14, 10:45 AM

Free-agent RB Mark Walton (Dolphins) was suspended for the next eight games by the National Football League Friday, Nov. 13, meaning that he won't be eligible to play for any team for the remainder of the 2020 season. However, the reason for the suspension is unknown.

Footballguys view: Walton has natural talent as a runner and is still only 23 years old, but these off-field issues have held him back as a pro. He will be a long shot to ever play a snap again in the NFL.

Dolphins | Mark Walton released    Tue Nov 19, 10:47 AM

Miami Dolphins RB Mark Walton was released Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Footballguys view: Reports are coming in that Walton was arrested on Tuesday morning for a domestic violence incident. It was Walton's fourth arrest of the year, and the details of this latest incident are quite disturbing. "We were made aware of a police matter earlier this morning regarding Walton," Dolphins general manager Chris Grier released in a statement. "We hold our players to a high standard and take these matters very seriously. We will have no further comment at this time."

Dolphins | Mark Walton suspended    Mon Nov 4, 05:03 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Mark Walton has been suspended for four games for violating the NFL's conduct and substance abuse policies.

Footballguys view: Walton had some legal problems this offseason and that's where this suspension comes from. The Dolphins roll forward with Kalen Ballage as their lead back. Patrick Laird or Myles Gaskin could get some work as reserve runners.

Dolphins | Mark Walton quiet in Week 9    Sun Nov 3, 06:39 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Mark Walton rushed for 29 yards on 12 carries against the New York Jets in Week 9. He also caught three passes for 12 yards during the game.

Footballguys view: The Dolphins had their best offensive day of the year and the starting running back was still a disappointment in fantasy lineups. Walton is only an emergency play with a low ceiling.

Dolphins | Mark Walton the workhorse?    Sat Nov 2, 09:50 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Mark Walton 'has the keys' to the backfield and will remain the 'workhorse' for the remainder of the season, according to Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com.

Footballguys view: Walton still has a low ceiling because of the offense and team he's part of, but he's at least worth a flex against the Jets decimated defense.

Dolphins | Mark Walton takes on league-high workload    Tue Oct 29, 08:35 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Mark Walton's 87% of the offensive snaps played in Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers was a higher percentage than any other running back in the NFL. Eight RBs played more offensive snaps overall, but they didn't receive as high of a percentage on their respective teams.

Footballguys view: Walton is the clear lead back for the Dolphins. He's got a good all-around skill set but Kalen Ballage does get onto the field to steal touchdown opportunities when the team is close to pay dirt. Walton has flex appeal just based on his workload.

Miami Dolphins RB Mark Walton rushed for 66 yards on 14 carries against the Buffalo Bills in Week 7.

Footballguys view: Walton appears to be the most valuable Dolphins back to roster at this point and could become more reliable if Kenyan Drake is traded before the deadline. He should be picked up in all leagues.

Dolphins | Mark Walton impressing coach    Tue Oct 8, 09:10 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Mark Walton drew praise from offensive coordinator Chad O'Shea Tuesday, Oct. 8, for how he's played in the first half of the season. 'I think that Mark has really impressed me,' O'Shea said. 'He has impressed me in both running the football and in his pass receiving. I think he runs hard. I think he does a good job and takes pride in catching the football. He certainly has a skill set that is unique that he can do both.'

Footballguys view: Walton was a dynamic college running back for the University of Miami and we're monitoring him closely in dynasty formats. The Dolphins are looking for players they can build with and perhaps Walton can get more involved in that backfield as the season goes on. He's behind Kenyan Drake right now, but we could see him get more opportunities if he stays healthy and produces.

Dolphins | Mark Walton making push for roster spot    Thu May 30, 04:13 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Mark Walton has 'a real chance to beat out seventh-round pick Myles Gaskin for the No. 3 job' and 'impressed as a receiver during OTA sessions,' according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Footballguys view: Walton is a talented and natural runner. We'll monitor him in dynasty formats so long as he stays out of trouble off the field.

Dolphins | Mark Walton among Miami signees    Sun May 12, 12:52 PM

Free-agent RB Mark Walton (Bengals) and CB Jamar Summers (Steelers) and undrafted rookie C Kirk Barron signed with the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, May 12.

Footballguys view: Walton was a fourth-round pick in 2018 and certainly has the skills and physical ability to make the Dolphins roster as a third-down back. Seventh-round pick Myles Gaskin might have a tough time outplaying Walton, who was released by Cincinnati after multiple offseason arrests.

Dolphins | Mark Walton getting a look from Miami    Fri May 10, 02:25 PM

Free-agent RB Mark Walton (Bengals) is trying out with the Miami Dolphins during their rookie minicamp Friday, May 10.

Footballguys view: Walton had multiple arrests this offseason, which was enough to earn his release. He was successful with the Hurricanes down in Miami as a collegiate player and the Dolphins have a depth chart spot or two up for grabs at running back, so this is something to monitor.

Bengals | Mark Walton let go    Sat Apr 6, 01:06 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Mark Walton was waived Saturday, April 6.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. Walton has been arrested three times in 2019 so far. His most recent arrest happened last week for carrying a concealed weapon, marijuana possession, and reckless driving. He's a talented runner but this off-field trouble was too much for the Bengals....'nuff said. Walton will struggle to find another chance in the league when all these legal troubles are behind him.

Bengals | Mark Walton arrested in Miami    Thu Apr 4, 12:18 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Mark Walton surrendered to North Miami-Dade police on Thursday, April 4, and will face felony charges of carrying a concealed weapon, marijuana possession and reckless driving, according to a Miami Herald report. The arrest stemmed from a high-speed car chase that occurred March 12 and ended with Walton fleeing from the police on foot.

Footballguys view: It's the third time Walton has been arrested this year. Walton was a fourth-round pick of the Bengals in the 2018 NFL draft. He has natural talent as a runner but these off-field issues are likely to get him released by the Bengals.

  Bengals | Cincinnati's Week 12 injury report    Fri Nov 23, 01:00 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR Josh Malone (hamstring) and LB Nick Vigil (knee) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 12 against the Cleveland Browns. WR A.J. Green (toe) and CB Dre Kirkpatrick remained out of practice Friday, Nov. 23, but are listed as questionable. OT Cordy Glenn (back) was upgraded to a limited practice Friday and is also listed as questionable. CB Darqueze Dennard (calf), S Clayton Fejedelem (shoulder), DE Michael Johnson (calf), RB Mark Walton (illness) and S Shawn Williams (hamstring) participated fully in practice Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

Footballguys view: The Bengals should have better help in the slot with Dennard back, but their linebackers are still weak heading into a matchup with Nick Chubb.

Bengals | Mark Walton to play on special teams?    Sat May 26, 09:22 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Mark Walton will mainly contribute on special teams this season, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.

Footballguys view: Walton will have to do that as a rookie as time in the backfield may be hard to come by. Joe Mixon is the team's lead back and Gio Bernard is still playing as their pass-catching back. Walton has a dash of Clinton Portis to his game, so he's a prospect dynasty owners should be quite interested in...he'll just have to wait for an opportunity.

Bengals | Cincy signs three more picks    Sat May 12, 02:03 PM

Cincinnati Bengals second-round draft choice S Jessie Bates, fourth-round draft choice RB Mark Walton and fifth-round draft choice CB Darius Phillips signed four-year contracts with the Bengals Saturday, May 12. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Walton is one of our favorite 'sleeper' RBs in this draft class from a dynasty perspective. There were shades of Clinton Portis to his game when Walton played for the Miami Hurricanes (just like Portis). Walton is not a big back, but at 205 pounds he's got plenty of toughness to run inside and the speed to break it outside when possible. He needs to stay healthy in order to play up to his potential in the pros.

Bengals | Cincinnati selects Mark Walton    Sat Apr 28, 12:40 PM

The Cincinnati Bengals selected Miami (Fla.) RB Mark Walton with the 112th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft Saturday, April 28.

Footballguys view: Walton will likely come in and compete for carries with Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard, and brings a solid third down ability to the table as well. A little too indecisive on runs, especially inside, Walton is probably more of a backup with committee upside than starter.

Giants | Mark Walton paying a visit to NY Giants    Tue Apr 10, 01:36 PM

University of Miami (Fla.) RB Mark Walton is meeting with the New York Giants on Tuesday, April 10.

Footballguys view: The Giants added Jonathan Stewart this offseason in free agency, but the need for an upgrade at the RB position remains. Walton is an interesting sleeper in this talented RB draft class. While in college, Walton reminded some in the scouting community of former Canes star Clinton Portis. Walton measures in at 205 pounds and can create mismatches in space due to his athleticism and natural running instincts. He's considered to be a fourth-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft.

Eagles | Philly to meet with Mark Walton    Thu Mar 1, 04:13 PM

Miami (Fla.) RB Mark Walton said he is scheduled to meet with the Philadelphia Eagles at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine.

Footballguys view: Walton is a solid third down back who can catch the ball and likely carry on earlier downs as well. In a thinner draft for the position, he'd go higher, but might slip this year.

NFL | Scouts high on Mark Walton     Sat Feb 10, 10:16 PM

Miami RB Mark Walton is being compared to Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman by NFL scouts.

Footballguys view: Walton is currently seen as a fourth- or fifth-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft. A season ending ankle injury cut his 2017 short, and durability concerns are his biggest question mark. Walton has the ability to score from anywhere on the field, and he's dangerous in space. Freeman is a comparison by some, but we think he's more Gio Bernard (Bengals).
