The New York Jets have invited free-agent WR Mike Sims-Walker (Jaguars) to participate in their upcoming minicamp on a tryout basis.

Footballguys view: The Jets have a banged up WR corps and that's why Sims-Walker is getting a tryout there. Santonio Holmes (foot) may be out until midway through training camp. Jets head coach Rex Ryan said he believes WRs Stephen Hill (knee), Jeremy Kerley (heel) and WR Clyde Gates (hamstring) will be able to participate the team's minicamp next week.

Bears | Not planning to add WR    Tue Dec 4, 01:45 PM

Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith said the team is not considering signing a wide receiver due to the injuries to WRs Alshon Jeffery (knee), Devin Hester (concussion) and Earl Bennett (concussion). WR Brandon Marshall was supporting the idea that the club should go out and sign a veteran wideout such as WR Mike Sims-Walker (Jaguars).

Footballguys view: Sims-Walker and Marshall were college teammates at Central Florida so it's not surprising he would endorse that move. Looks like the Bears will hold off on any additions at the WR position for now.

Texans | Mike Sims-Walker to try out    Tue Jun 12, 12:34 PM

The Houston Texans will try out WR Mike Sims-Walker (Rams) this week.

Footballguys view: The Texans have basically zero experience at wide receiver after Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter, and Johnson is currently sidelined after having knee surgery. A veteran presence will help with the smoothness of practice reps for the offense. Sims-Walker could win a job as the number three receiver if he is signed. He would be battling primarily with second-year wideout Lestar Jean.

Texans | Mike Sims-Walker to work out    Tue May 29, 02:00 AM

Footballguys view: Injuries and inconsistencies have kept Sims-Walker from playing up to his potential during his pro career. St. Louis Rams WR Mike Sims-Walker posted a game-high six receptions for 92 yards in the Week 2 game Monday, Sept. 19, against the New York Giants. Sims-Walker was much improved after posting one catch and five yards in his debut in Week 1.

Footballguys view: Sims-Walker didn't do anything spectacular, but he was in the right spot at the right time, and he didn't constantly let Sam Bradford down with drops like Greg Salas did. He should have WR3/Flex value next week vs the Ravens inexperienced CBs.

St. Louis Rams WR Mike Sims-Walker post a six-yard touchdown on his only reception in the preseason game Friday, Aug. 26, against the Kansas City Chiefs.

St. Louis Rams WR Mike Sims-Walker (groin) was able to play in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 20, against the Tennessee Titans. He finished with one receptions for 26 yards.

Footballguys view: Sims-Walker hasn't made the big splash in the preseason that we were looking for to feel good about taking him as a primary bench receiver, but he is still worth a pick in the double digit rounds as a possible starter in this offense.

Rams | Two receivers still on the mend    Wed Aug 17, 12:22 AM

St. Louis Rams WRs Donnie Avery (knee) and Mike Sims-Walker (groin) were each unable to practice Tuesday, Aug. 16.

Rams | Mike Sims-Walker contract terms    Sat Jul 30, 11:05 AM

Updating previous reports, WR Mike Sims-Walker's one-year deal with the St. Louis Rams is worth $3.7 million.

Rams | Mike Sims-Walker agrees    Fri Jul 29, 09:27 PM

The St. Louis Rams agreed to terms on an undisclosed deal with free-agent WR Mike Sims-Walker (Jaguars) Friday, July 29.

Footballguys view: Sims-Walker didn't generate much buzz in free agency, and his one year, 3.7 million dollar contract shows that the Rams aren't sold on him long term. He'll need to have a good camp just to make the team, but he could also start and be a strong sleeper in the Josh McDaniels with a good preseason.

Bears | Have contacted Mike Sims-Walker    Thu Jul 28, 10:40 PM

The Chicago Bears have contacted free-agent WR Mike Sims-Walker (Jaguars).

Bears | Mike Sims-Walker interested in joining team    Tue Jul 26, 01:45 AM

Free-agent WR Mike Sims-Walker (Jaguars) said Monday, July 25, that he is interested in joining the Chicago Bears. 'Chicago would be one of the ideal spots for me,' Sims-Walker said. 'With the offensive coordinator (Mike Martz) and QB Jay Cutler, the speedy receivers, the monster defense, and RB Matt Forte in the backfield, I think I can be the missing piece.'

Footballguys view: Sims-Walker needs to stay healthy and play with more consistency if he wants to play up to his potential. His skill set could work in the Mike Martz system and he would be the team's biggest WR.

The Miami Dolphins are not expected to show interest in Jacksonville Jaguars impending free-agent WR Mike Sims-Walker once free agency begins.

We make each other better.'

Footballguys view: Sims-Walker and Marshall were teammates at the University of Central Florida years ago and remain good friends today. The Dolphins could use another weapon in the passing game, and Sims-Walker could help them stretch the field vertically.

Footballguys view: The Bears want to add a big wide receiver via free agency and Sims-Walker, Jackson, and Jones, fit the bill. The team knows they need better weapons around QB Jay Cutler and a legitimate number one receiver to attack defenses.

Footballguys view: Thus, the tweet from Sims-Walker earlier. The team inked WR Jason Hill to a new deal, but expect them to address the position in the 2011 NFL Draft. The Jags could use a premium pick on a wide receiver if they feel a value is there for them at sixteen overall.

Jaguars | Mike Sims-Walker not returning?    Fri Mar 4, 12:05 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Mike Sims-Walker, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, sounds like he is closing the door on a return to the Jaguars in 2011, reports The Associated Press. Sims-Walker tweeted Thursday, March 3: 'its official, I personally wanna thank all the fans who stuck with me in jacksonville for the last 4 years but sorry to say my time is up!!' Sims-Walker had 43 receptions for 562 yards and seven touchdowns in 2010, a year after posting a career-best 63 receptions for 869 yards with seven touchdowns the year before. He was limited to 14 games last season.

Footballguys view: It seems like MSW is content with moving on. Earlier reports quoted him as wanting to stay in Jacksonville, but now it seems he wants to leave. He's a big target with a good size/speed ration and fantastic 'my ball' mentality. However, injuries have plagued his career to this point and he'll need to stay healthy if he wants to maximize his potential.
