Dolphins | Miami likely to pick up two key fifth-year options    Tue Apr 16, 01:46 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle and DE Jaelan Phillips are expected to have their fifth-year options exercised by the team before the deadline next month, according to general manager Chris Grier.

Footballguys view: The contracts will be fully guaranteed, with Waddle set to make $15.6 million and Phillips'sPhillips' salary set at $13.3 million. Waddle had 72 catches for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns last season, and he's posted 251 catches for 3,385 yards and 18 touchdowns in his career. His former Alabama teammate and fellow 2021 first-rounder Devonta Smith agreed on Monday to a three-year, $75 million extension that will kick in after his fifth-year option plays out, so, as Profootballtalk.com suggests, Smith's deal could factor into Waddle's own bid for a long-term deal. For fantasy managers, having him locked into his role in Miami's high-powered offense is a win.

Dolphins | Miami holding out hope for Jaylen Waddle in finale    Fri Jan 5, 12:28 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (ankle) will practice on a limited basis on Friday, Jan. 5, according to head coach Mike McDaniel, who added that he 'would not close the door' on Waddle playing against the Buffalo Bills in Week 18.

Footballguys view: Waddle is a game time decision, which puts fantasy players in a tough spot if they don't have a Sunday night wide receiver hedge like Gabe Davis or Khalil Shakir. The Dolphins are going to have to play next week no matter what happens against the Bills, so they may choose to rest Waddle to have him in the best possible condition for their wild card game.

Dolphins | Jaylen Waddle ruled out    Fri Dec 29, 12:03 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (ankle) was ruled out for the Week 17 game against the Baltimore Ravens, the team announced Friday, Dec. 29.

Footballguys view: We've got some clarity in the Dolphins' situation here. Waddle has a high-ankle sprain, and those can take a couple of weeks to get right (sometimes more like a month). Dolphins' HC Mike McDaniel has said this injury was not that serious, but it's bad enough for Waddle to miss Week 17's contest against the Ravens. WR Tyreek Hill can't catch EVERYTHING, so that means guys like RB De'Von Achane, WR Cedric Tillman, and TE Durham Smythe could get more looks with Waddle out.

Dolphins | Jaylen Waddle a no-go on Thursday    Thu Dec 28, 01:12 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (ankle) did not practice for a second straight day on Thursday, Dec. 28.

Footballguys view: Waddle has a high-ankle sprain, so he could be out of action for the rest of the regular season. Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel said the injury was not as serious as some think, but it's still an injury that most miss at least a couple of weeks to recover from.

Miami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (knee) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Footballguys view: Fantasy GMs are pleased with this news. Waddle has been bothered by this knee injury, but a week off in Week 10 has him on track to be closer to full strength in Week 11. Against the Raiders, Waddle is a WR2 with upside from a fantasy perspective.

Miami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle caught three passes for 42 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9. He also rushed for 12 yards on one carry during the game.

Footballguys view: Waddle left early with a knee injury, but returned to at least salvage 54 total yards for fantasy teams that plugged him into lineups today. He has spent a lot of time on the injury report this season, so hopefully the rest during next week's bye will help him have a better second half of the season.

  Dolphins | Miami's Week 9 injury report    Fri Nov 3, 12:07 PM

Miami Dolphins OL Robert Hunt (hamstring) and S Brandon Jones (concussion) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 9 versus the Kansas City Chiefs. OT Terron Armstead (knee), WR Braxton Berrios (hamstring), CB Justin Bethel (foot), WR River Cracraft (shoulder), CB Xavien Howard (groin), CB Nik Needham (Achilles), TE Durham Smythe (ankle) and C Connor Williams (groin) were limited in practice on Friday, Nov. 3, and are listed as questionable. RB Raheem Mostert (ankle) and CB Jalen Ramsey (knee) were also limited in practice on Friday but have been removed from the injury report. RB Alec Ingold (foot) and WR Jaylen Waddle (back) practiced in full all week and also no longer appear on the injury report.

Footballguys view: Mostert being removed from the injury report is your go-ahead to play him as your RB2 this week in Germany. Salvon Ahmed and Jeff Wilson are splitting the backup work and they got as many touches combined as Mostert last week, so his value is trending down with De'Von Achane also potentially due back in Week 11 after the team's bye.
