Seahawks | Mike Vrabel on Seattle's radar Thu Jan 18, 02:35 PM
Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel is expected to interview with the Seattle Seahawks regarding their head coaching vacancy in the near future, according to sources.
Footballguys view: Vrabel should be on every team's radar that has an opening. We think Dan Quinn ends up back in Seattle, but that's not a lock. Seattle is going to look a lot different without Pete Carroll on the sidelines, but Vrabel would bring a lot of experience to the table. |

Falcons | Atlanta likely to interview Mike Vrabel Thu Jan 18, 02:22 PM
Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel is expected to interview with the Atlanta Falcons regarding their head coaching vacancy in the near future, according to sources.
Footballguys view: Bill Belichick to the Falcons isn't a done deal...yet. Until that happens, Falcons' owner Arthur Blank will keep all options open. Vrabel is a fine coach, but the team is just moving away from a former Titans coach (Arthur Smith). |

Chargers | LA Chargers meeting with Mike Vrabel Thu Jan 18, 02:08 PM
Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel is interviewing for the head coaching position with the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday, Jan. 18.
Footballguys view: Vrabel is arguably the best coach available in this cycle. The Chargers could use someone to reset the franchise, and Vrabel could bring that culture to the West Coast. As a defensive coach, Vrabel would have to find the right offensive staff to get the most out of superstar QB Justin Herbert. |

Titans | Mike Vrabel fired Tue Jan 9, 12:36 PM
Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel was fired Tuesday, Jan. 9.
Footballguys view: The Titans are choosing to start over with this decision. Vrabel once coached a team that was a legitimate Super Bowl contender, but over the last two seasons, things fell apart on both sides of the ball. Vrabel is a conservative coach who wants to run the ball and play great defense. We imagine some team with an opening will be interested in Vrabel as a head coach. |

Titans | No decision on QB2 yet Sat Aug 26, 01:30 PM
The Tennessee Titans have yet to make a decision on who will be their backup quarterback between QBs Will Levis and Malik Willis, head coach Mike Vrabel said on Saturday, Aug. 26.
Footballguys view: Levis has been missing time with a thigh injury, and that may put the rookie behind the second-year quarterback in this competition. Willis has a rocket arm and is athletic, but his passing skill needs work. Levis is a good passer when not under duress, and he could develop into a future starter for the team. |

Titans | Extensions for Jon Robinson, Mike Vrabel Tue Feb 8, 04:09 PM
Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson and head coach Mike Vrabel signed contract extensions Tuesday, Feb. 8. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: This is what happens when you have great success with a regime, they all get extended because the Titans want to keep it up. Vrabel has taken the Titans to the playoffs three years in a row. In 2021, the Titans finished as the no.1 seed in the AFC and won 12 games. Now, they just need to figure out a way to take that next step. That could include Vrabel (obviously) but they might have to upgrade from QB Ryan Tannehill. |

Titans | Derrick Henry's status remains TBD Mon Jan 17, 02:14 PM
Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry (foot) remains uncertain for the Divisional Round home game vs. the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday, Jan. 22, according to head coach Mike Vrabel.
Footballguys view: We're sure the Titans will keep Henry's status close to the vest this week. Henry faces a 'big week' to get ready for a ground-heavy attack, Vrabel said. The no.1 seed in the AFC, the Titans are at home to face the Bengals on Saturday. |

Titans | Anthony Firkser to be involved in red zone Thu Jul 1, 06:47 PM
Tennessee Titans TE Anthony Firkser is expected to be a target in the red zone this season, according to head coach Mike Vrabel.
Footballguys view: Firkser is seen as a deep sleeper by Fantasy GMs although some of the excitement around him has dwindled since the team traded for WR Julio Jones. In 2020, Firkser ran over 70 percent of his routes from the slot, the highest rate out of all tight ends in the league. He's a late-round flier you can take as a TE2 with upside in 2021. |

Titans | Ryan Succop should be ready for opener Sat Jul 27, 04:22 PM
Tennessee Titans PK Ryan Succop (knee) should be ready for the start of the regular season, according to head coach Mike Vrabel.
Footballguys view: Austin Bernard will get a chance to show his stuff for the other 31 teams while Succop recovers, and he'll surely be on speed dial for the Titans if Succop misses time this year. |

Titans | Jeffery Simmons sits out minicamp Sun May 12, 05:58 PM
Tennessee Titans DT Jeffery Simmons (knee) did not participate in the rookie minicamp this weekend but is able to lift and is attending the meetings, according to head coach Mike Vrabel.
Footballguys view: We could be looking at a 'redshirt' year for Simmons. He tore his ACL training for the draft and has been on the road to recovery for a couple of months. Simmons should be limited all through minicamp and training camp, with the earliest projections having him return late in the season...or just debuting in 2020. |

Titans | Marcus Mariota still limited Mon Sep 24, 02:16 PM
Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (elbow) is still unable to make every throw he needs to make, according to head coach Mike Vrabel, who added he hopes the 'whole package can come back this week.'
Footballguys view: Mariota came off the bench in Week 3 to lead the Titans to a road win against the Jaguars. He's certainly not at full strength but perhaps he'll improve enough over the week to get his normal workload and expected gameplan. |

Tennessee Titans QB Blaine Gabbert might get another start in Week 3 if QB Marcus Mariota (elbow) is unable to go. Head coach Mike Vrabel praised Gabbert, who started in Week 2, for how he executed the offense, earning the game ball.
Footballguys view: Mariota (elbow) has not made any progress yet from the elbow injury that kept him from playing in Week 2 according to Vrabel. His status remains the same and we'll get updates about Mariota during the week. The Titans face a tough Jaguars defense in Week 3. |

Titans | Tennessee hires Mike Vrabel Sat Jan 20, 06:09 PM
The Tennessee Titans have hired Houston Texans defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel as their new head coach.
Footballguys view: Things change quickly around here. A week ago, the Titans were losing to the Patriots in the Divisional Round in the playoffs. After that game, there was buzz that Mike Mularkey was going to get an extension as their head coach. Shortly thereafter, Mularkey and the team parted ways. They may have wanted to get Patriots OC Josh McDaniels a week ago, but he seems destined to be the head coach of the Colts when New England is done in the postseason. Vrabel spent one year (2017) as the Texans defensive coordinator. The long-time NFL linebacker has a defensive mind and needs to find the best offensive minds he can to put around young quarterback Marcus Mariota. |

Footballguys view: Vrabel has gotten some interest from a couple of other teams, most notably the Colts where he seems to be in the running (although likely behind Josh McDaniels). With Mike Mularkey mutually parting ways with the team, the Titans are behind in the coaching search that others have been on for a couple of weeks. |

Lions | Mike Vrabel to interview with Lions Mon Jan 1, 09:45 AM
Houston Texans defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel will interview for the Detroit Lions' head coaching vacancy, according to sources.
Footballguys view: Vrabel just got done running the Texans defense for the first year. A former linebackers coach, most of his time in the pros was with the New England Patriots. That gives him a connection to Lions GM Bob Quinn who also spent time in that first-class organization. |

Texans | Mike Vrabel promoted Wed Jan 18, 09:34 AM
Houston Texans linebackers coach Mike Vrabel was promoted to defensive coordinator Wednesday, Jan. 18.
Footballguys view: Their defensive coordinator in 2016, Romeo Crennel, is expected to remain on staff in a new capacity. There was buzz about Vrabel getting a job offer from the 49ers to be their DC if (when?) Kyle Shanahan is named head coach. The Texans didn't want to lose Vrabel, and that's why they make the move here. |

Former Kansas City Chiefs LB Mike Vrabel said Tuesday, July 12, that his decision to retire and join the Ohio State coaching staff as linebackers coach wasn't due to the lockout. 'I thought in January when we lost to the (Baltimore Ravens) that I had played my last down in the NFL,' Vrabel said. 'Whether the league resumed in March, I don't know if I would have felt any better or any worse, but I'm comfortable with this decision.'
