Eagles | Vick can keep roster bonus from Atlanta    Tue Nov 10, 01:24 PM

The Associated Press reports a federal appeals court is backing the judge who ruled against the NFL and let Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick keep more than $16 million in roster bonuses from the Atlanta Falcons. The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Tuesday, Nov. 10, affirmed Judge David Doty's order saying Vick had already earned the bonuses before his dogfighting conviction, so the money wasn't subject to forfeiture. After Doty ruled in the Vick bonus case, the NFL accused him of bias and sought to end his oversight of its contract with the players union. The appeals court says the contract should remain under Doty's oversight.

Bills | Evans doesn't see Vick as a fit    Mon Nov 9, 05:20 PM

Tim Graham, of ESPN.com, reports Buffalo Bills WR Lee Evans does not think Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick would be a good fit with the team next season. 'Probably not. I love him as a player and everything that he's done for the league, but I don't think it'll be anything we'll aggressively go after,' Evans said.

Eagles | Vick says returning would be hard    Mon Nov 9, 10:19 AM

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick said during an interview with NBC that returning to the team next season would be an 'everyday struggle' and said he 'won't be a wildcat guy.' The Eagles signed Vick to a $1.6 million contract for 2009, with a team option for the second year at $5.2 million. 'It would be an everyday struggle. But I would have to take that time to hone my skills and get better. I'm excited about the opportunity I have moving forward whether it's with Philadelphia or another team,' Vick said.

Bills | Showed interest in Vick    Mon Nov 9, 09:49 AM

The Associated Press reports former NFL head coach Tony Dungy said Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick could wind up playing for the Buffalo Bills after this season. Dungy confirmed Sunday, Nov. 8, that the Bills did talk with Vick while he was a free agent. 'I told Michael to just worry about this year,' Dungy said. 'It's technically up to Philadelphia. If they want him back, he has to stay there...But I think a dark horse is Buffalo. They talked originally. There was some communication there. I think that could be a good spot.'

Our view: Buffalo is probably going to move on from the Trent Edwards era after this season, and could be looking for a big shakeup at the quarterback position. The Bills don't seem like a perfect fit for Vick, but there could be a coaching change coming up after the season as well.

Eagles | Vick content with role    Tue Oct 27, 10:52 AM

CBSSports.com reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick said he is happy with his role on the team. 'I am happy with my role. Things are progressing. The flow of the game is dictating my playing time, and I am okay with that,' Vick said.

Our view: Of course Vick is content with his role. He's out of jail, and on a team that is winning and can make a run at the playoffs. The story would be different if he was a backup on a team like the Raiders.

Eagles | Vick's playing time decreasing    Sat Oct 24, 11:24 AM

Jeff McLane, of The Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick's playing time has decreased with each game. Vick has gone from being on the field for 11 plays in his first game to five in the second game to just two during the team's Week 6 game. 'We signed him as a backup quarterback,' head coach Andy Reid said. 'We have gotten probably a little bit more out of him than I thought we would have out of our other backup quarterbacks.'

Eagles | Vick has quiet debut    Mon Sep 28, 11:22 AM

Peter King, of SI.com, reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick played 11 plays in the team's Week 3 game. He was 0-for-2, rushed out of the direct-snap once for seven yards, played receiver for one play, and handed the ball off seven times.

Our view: Vick really didn't do as much as some had anticipated. With Donovan McNabb coming back from injury, the Eagles could continue to trickle a few plays in with Vick while they get him used to regular season action once again. Getting ready for Vick also takes time away from standard preparation for defenses facing the Eagles.

The Associated Press reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick was in for 11 plays during the team's Week 3 game. He lined up at wide receiver once, took the snap in the shotgun formation nine times and lined up under center once. Vick finished 0-for-2 passing and had one run for seven yards.

The Associated Press reports the Philadelphia Eagles are likely to have three quarterbacks active Sunday, Sept. 27, with QB Donovan McNabb (rib) hurt. McNabb is doubtful to play against the Kansas City Chiefs, which means QBs Kevin Kolb, Michael Vick and Jeff Garcia might all be active. Kolb will be making his second straight start, Vick is expected to be used in the team's version of the wildcat offense and Garcia will be the backup to Kolb.

Adam Schefter, of ESPN, reports Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said QB Michael Vick will see playing time in Week 3 but it is not known how much Vick will play.

Our view: The Eagles have been running the Wildcat offense, with varying success, while Vick has been out. Now that he's back from suspension, and with Donovan McNabb out, we should see more passing for the Wildcat from Vick.

The Associated Press reports Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid is not sure whether QB Jeff Garcia or QB Michael Vick would be the backup quarterback if QB Kevin Kolb starts in Week 3. Kolb would receive the starting nod if QB Donovan McNabb (rib) is unable to play.

The Philadelphia Eagles have declared WR Brandon Gibson, QB Donovan McNabb, LB Joe Mays, QB Michael Vick, OL Mike McGlynn, SS Quintin Demps, WR Reggie Brown, OG Todd Herremans inactive for Week 2.

Our view: Kevin Kolb gets the call to start in Philadelphia, but Jeff Garcia will have his helmet in hand if Kolb struggles. DeSean Jackson is active, but temper your expectations for all Eagle WR today.

Eagles | Vick struggles Thursday    Fri Sep 4, 12:06 AM

The Associated Press reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick struggled during the team's preseason finale Thursday, Sept. 3. Vick was sacked four times, threw an interception and lost a fumble in the game. Vick finished 7-for-11 for 26 yards passing with seven carries for 35 yards and a two-yard rushing touchdown.

Our view: Vick still barely looks like the dangerous open field threat he was for the Falcons.

Adam Caplan, of Scout.com, reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick will be eligible to play in the team's Week 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Sam Farmer, of the Los Angeles Times, reports via his Twitter account that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell plans to meet with Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick Thursday, Sept. 3, for a final reinstatement decision.

Our view: Commissioner Goodell will fully reinstate Vick by no later than week six of the regular season. The decision is crucial for the Eagles, because they would likely trade QB A.J. Feeley if Vick is available for the regular season opener.

Eagles | Expect decision on Vick by Saturday    Wed Sep 2, 04:52 PM

Sal Paolantonio, of ESPN, reports the Philadelphia Eagles expect NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to make a decision on QB Michael Vick's full instatement by Saturday, Sept. 5, according to league sources. Goodell and Vick are expected to meet soon, according to a league source.

Our view: It is widely believed that commissioner Roger Goodell will let Vick come back during week three of the regular season, even though he could suspend him until week six. Depending on the commissioner's ruling, we could see A.J. Feeley dealt as the Eagles don't want to carry four quarterbacks.

Eagles | Wildcat will resume when Vick is reinstated    Tue Sep 1, 01:15 PM

Jeff McLane, of The Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said the team is going to continue using their Wildcat package when QB Michael Vick is reinstated by the league. The team doesn't feel Vick entering mid-drive disrupts the continuity of the offense.

Our view: This news may upset starter Donovan McNabb, who felt the offense struggled to get into a rhythm because of Vick rotating in and out of the lineup. The Eagles are smart to use Vick as a change of pace QB to keep the defense on their toes.

Eagles | Vick to play second half Thursday    Mon Aug 31, 06:34 PM

Jeff McLane, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said during a radio interview that QB Michael Vick will be used occasionally in the first half and will take over at quarterback in the second half of the team's preseason game Thursday, Sept. 3.

Our view: Vick was pretty rusty in his debut against the Jaguars last week, but he still showed flashes of the player he used to be. The Eagles are going to give him an extended look, as they try and figure out how to best carry Vick on the roster. If they label him as the emergency quarterback, then they can't shuffle him in and out of the lineup. If they carry three active quarterbacks, then they will sacrifice an active spot usually filled by a key special teamer.

Sunday morning, Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg was busy pooh-poohing the notion. "It was new," said Mornhinweg in a transcript provided by the team.   Eagles | Vick at 70%    Fri Aug 28, 04:35 PM

The Philadelphia Daily News reports that Michael Vick was at 70% physically by his own estimation when he played on Thursday, August 27.

The Associated Press reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick took part in a total of six plays during his preseason debut Thursday, Aug. 27. Vick lined up as a receiver in the slot for one play, ran once for one yard and completed all four of his passes for 19 yards.

Our view: Vick and Donovan McNabb lined up together a few times just to give regular season opponents something to think about when they prepare for the Eagles.

Updating a previous report, Sal Paolantonio, of ESPN, reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick is expected to initially be used as a quarterback and then in the Wildcat formation in the team's preseason game Thursday, Aug. 27.

Eagles | Vick to debut Thursday    Tue Aug 25, 01:33 PM

The Associated Press reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick will make his preseason debut Thursday, Aug. 27, versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. "Michael will have an opportunity to play Thursday," said Reid at a news conference Tuesday. "It's been two years, we'll see how it works out," Reid stated. "We'll see what he can do. He wants to get in. He's kind of set this as a goal and so did we. I think he's excited to get out there."

The Associated Press reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick will make his debut during the team's next preseason game if everything goes well in practice the next few days. Vick has been working the majority of his time at quarterback since joining the team a week ago.

Our view: Vick has been playing quarterback in practice, but Andy Reid is a smart guy and will use him as a utility player. We have a feeling that during the regular season Vick could line up all over the field. The Eagles know that teams will have to gameplan for Vick, and throwing out a few looks with Vick at wide receiver or running back would confuse a defense.
