NFL | Michael Vick retiring as Falcon? Mon May 29, 03:05 AM

NFL | Michael Vick officially retires Fri Feb 3, 05:31 PM
Free-agent QB Michael Vick (Steelers) has announced that he has officially retired from professional football.
Footballguys view: This is oddly fitting on the eve of the Super Bowl he was never able to guide his Atlanta Falcons to while he was the quarterback of the team. While he won't earn Hall of Fame consideration by any stretch, Vick was a one of a kind player who tilted fantasy leagues in his prime, and even during his second act with the Eagles. |

NFL | Michael Vick set to retire Mon Jan 30, 12:54 PM
Free-agent QB Michael Vick told Sports Illustrated.com's Jonathan Jones he believes he is ready to retire.
Footballguys view: Vick had a much longer and more accomplished second act in his career than anyone could have predicted, but even in the quarterback-starved NFL his services are no longer needed. |

NFL | Michael Vick committed to football Fri Jul 22, 09:34 PM
Free-agent QB Michael Vick (Steelers) said Thursday, July 21, he remains optimistic about playing in 2016 and wants to be able to make a contribution to a contender.
Footballguys view: Vick is no longer the player he used to be...and he hasn't been for quite some time. Nobody has brought him in for a workout this offseason, so Vick's playing days might be done. |

Seahawks | Michael Vick an option for Seattle? Mon Jul 4, 04:02 PM
Free-agent QB Michael Vick (Steelers) could be a pickup candidate for the Seattle Seahawks, according to ESPN analyst, Phil Savage. Savage said Vick would fit the Seahawks with his mobility, what he brings to the table and with a veteran presence behind QB Russell Wilson.
Footballguys view: We could see that happening as the Seahawks aren't likely to bring back Tarvaris Jackson and currently have undrafted rookie Trevone Boykin as the second-string QB behind Wilson. Vick was with the Steelers last year where he appeared in five games, completing 60.6 percent of his passes for 371 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. At age 36, Vick still wants to play but would only be a veteran backup no matter where he lands. |

NFL | Michael Vick not retired Mon Jun 13, 06:20 PM
Free-agent QB Michael Vick (Steelers) said he has not retired and would love to play in 2016. Vick said he will be selective about the offer he accepts this offseason.
Footballguys view: We can't imagine teams lined up to sign Vick. He may want to be selective about any offer he accepts, but he may not get that many offers to begin with. |

Steelers | Michael Vick could be available Tue Oct 27, 01:10 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Michael Vick (hamstring) has a chance to be available in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. However, QB Landry Jones is listed as the No. 2 quarterback behind QB Ben Roethlisberger on the depth chart.
Footballguys view: Nobody should be surprised by this. Jones has looked better than Vick in limited playing time. Vick is still a little banged up, and the Steelers have to be ready in case something else happens to Roethlisberger. |

QBs Ben Roethlisberger (knee) and Michael Vick (hamstring) will have their progress monitored to determine their availability in practice or games.
Footballguys view: It's the only move for the team if Vick isn't ready. Jones is a decent pocket passer and has great weapons to throw to in Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant and LeVeon Bell. Jones threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns in relief of an injured Vick in Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals. |

Steelers | Antonio Brown wants more looks Thu Oct 15, 12:56 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown wants QB Michael Vick to trust him more and take more downfield shots through the air. Brown has just nine catches for 87 yards and no touchdowns in the two games that Vick has taken over for QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee). 'He's got to take some shots,' Brown said. 'I told him, trust me a little bit. Let me make some plays. Let's get a victory. It doesn't have to be that hard.' Vick is allowed to call audibles at the line of scrimmage but hasn't done it much because he's trying to gain a 'complete understanding' of the offense. Brown has been targeted 15 times in the last two games by Vick, compared to 35 targets in the first three weeks of the season.
Footballguys view: It's been tough since Vick took over and it could be Vick knows the limitations on his arm and doesn't want to risk more picks. Until we see more from Vick though, Brown is a solid WR2 with upside, but not the WR1 he was before the injury to Ben Roethlisberger. |

Steelers | Michael Vick struggles in win Tue Oct 13, 01:12 AM
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Michael Vick completed 13 of his 26 pass attempts for 203 yards, one touchdowns and one interception in the Week 5 win against the San Diego Chargers Monday, Oct. 12. He also had one run for 24 yards.
Footballguys view: Vick led the team in the fourth quarter to get the win. We could see Ben Roethlisberger back in Week 6, but that is considered a longshot. It looks like Vick is going to get one more week as the team's starter. |

Steelers | Michael Vick's timing off in offense Wed Oct 7, 01:27 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown said the timing with QB Michael Vick was off last week as he filled in for QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee). 'I think (Mike Vick's passes) just come out a little bit later than Ben's,' Brown said. 'I don't think Mike Vick has yet adjusted to the timing of how we run things. His balls come out later in the routes, at the top of your route. You just have to get the timing down and make sure we're on the same page.'
Footballguys view: We agree and expect better numbers by the two players this time out. We see Brown as an easy WR1, while Vick is a low-rent QB2. If you play daily fantasy, Vick is cheap and with Brown catching the ball, could have some sneaky value. |

Steelers | Antonio Brown could suffer with new QB Thu Oct 1, 01:12 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown's production could suffer with QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) out four to six weeks. Brown credits astounding chemistry he has with Roethlisberger on and off the field to their success. Roethlisberger throws to Brown about 30% of the time on broken plays, and QB Michael Vick has had accuracy issues.
Footballguys view: This makes sense, though Antonio Brown has the skills to bail out Vick on occasion as well. We still see him as a WR1, but not as productive as he was with Roethlisberger. |

Steelers | PIT HC confident in Michael Vick Mon Sep 28, 05:15 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Michael Vick still has plenty of playing time left in his career, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. Vick will be the Steelers' starting quarterback for several weeks with QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) sidelined. Vick completed five of six passes for 38 yards after Roethlisberger exited in Week 3.
Footballguys view: What else is Tomlin supposed to say, "Vick sucks unless he cares, then he's just average as a starter." The Steelers should use a simplified playbook for Vick as he gets used to the players around him on the Todd Haley system. One would think an absolute mandate for the Steelers offense is to get RB LeVeon Bell involved early and often. Another command should be getting WR Antonio Brown the ball about 10 times per game. |

Steelers | Michael Vick in line to start Sun Sep 27, 06:17 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Michael Vick is set to step into the starting lineup in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens with QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) expected to miss at least four weeks due to a knee injury.
Footballguys view: Vick's running ability and the Steelers array of weapons combine with a good offensive line to make Vick a viable start for owners who are missing Roethlisberger. The Ravens pass defense has been prone to lapses, so Vick isn't a terrible play this week on Thursday. |

Bills | Buffalo considered Michael Vick Fri Aug 7, 03:07 PM
Free-agent QB Michael Vick (Jets) was an option for the Buffalo Bills, but head coach Rex Ryan had concerns about Vick playing in cold weather.
Footballguys view: Don't they have a much less experienced version of Vick in Tyrod Taylor? The veteran quarterback wants to get back in the league, but he certainly wasn't impressive last year with the Jets. Taylor is lightning quick and has a rocket arm, but he's struggling with accuracy in practice. |

NFL | Michael Vick selling himself to GMs Tue Jun 16, 09:28 PM
Free-agent QB Michael Vick remains without a job, but he tried selling himself to general managers Tuesday, June 16. '(I'm) a proven winner. I think that I've done a lot throughout the course of my career,' Vick began. 'I've proved that I can win games and play with some consistency and be a leader. I think those are the qualities that you want in a quarterback,' Vick said. When asked if has thought about this being the end of his career, Vick was in denial, 'Going through times like this you kind of think about it,' he said. 'I know I have been playing a long time. It's been 13 years. I know I still have a lot of football left in me. You never want to think of it in that regard,' said Vick.
Footballguys view: The market has been cool for Vick's services. After a year with the Jets where he reportedly checked out of team meetings and practice, it's no surprise teams don't want to add the veteran quarterback. We'll see if an injury in training camp opens up the door for him to compete. |
