Jets | Kevin Vickerson put on IR    Tue Sep 1, 01:31 PM

New York Jets DE Kevin Vickerson (hamstring) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Footballguys view: This won't impact the Jets defense, as he was not earmarked for a major role. The defense remains a top ten fantasy defense.

Jets | Kevin Vickerson agrees    Fri Mar 20, 05:51 PM

Free-agent DT Kevin Vickerson (Chiefs) agreed to terms on an undisclosed deal with the New York Jets Friday, March 20.

Footballguys view: It's a depth move for the Jets. Vickerson can play tackle or end, and he's a disruptive player inside. He'll work well in a rotation on the defensive line.

Bengals | Kevin Vickerson visits CIN    Wed Sep 3, 10:10 AM

Free-agent DT Kevin Vickerson (Broncos) visited with the Cincinnati Bengals Tuesday, Sept. 2, and took a physical. The team will not sign Vickerson this week, according to an NFL source.

Footballguys view: The Bengals are updating their emergency list here. Vickerson was dominant for the Broncos last year before a hip injury ended his season. If healthy, the savvy veteran would be a great addition.

Broncos | Kevin Vickerson cut    Sat Aug 30, 12:28 PM

The Denver Broncos have released DT Kevin Vickerson.

Footballguys view: The big man came back from a hip injury last year, but Marvin Austin and Mitch Unrein outperformed him in the preseason.

Broncos | Kevin Vickerson cleared for limited work    Wed Jul 23, 03:07 PM

Denver Broncos DT Kevin Vickerson (hip) will not be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list, and he has been cleared for limited work.

Footballguys view: "Big Vick" is going to compete with second-year pro Sylvester Williams to be a starting defensive tackle next to Terrance Knighton. Even if Vickerson is not the starter, he'll work as a fine rotational player on the defensive line.

Broncos | Four could go on PUP    Mon Jul 21, 11:43 AM

Denver Broncos LB Von Miller (knee), CB Chris Harris Jr. (knee), DT Kevin Vickerson (hip) and TE Joel Dreessen (knee) could begin the preseason on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Footballguys view: We wouldn't be shocked to see all four of these players go on PUP to begin training camp. The Broncos want Miller and Harris to be ready for the start of regular season. Both are coming back from late-season knee injuries suffered in 2013. Miller seems to be ahead in the recovery process, but expect the team to take it easy on him when he does come back.

Broncos | Kevin Vickerson cleared to run    Fri Jun 13, 07:30 PM

Denver Broncos DT Kevin Vickerson (hip) has been working on his strength and conditioning during offseason workouts but was cleared to start running last week. Vickerson said he is hoping to be ready for the start of training camp or a little after camp starts.

Broncos | Kevin Vickerson injury update     Tue Jun 10, 03:34 PM

Denver Broncos DT Kevin Vickerson (hip) said there is no timetable on his recovery, but he continues to get better. The hope is he will be ready for Week 1.

Footballguys view: "Big Vick" was a key part of the Broncos defense that was lost last year due to injury (Von Miller, Chris Harris Jr., Rahim Moore). Getting him back in the rotation will help them against the run and the pass. Vickerson is huge, weighing in around 330 pounds and he's quick enough to get a bit of interior pressure as a pass-rusher.

Broncos | Four sitting out    Wed May 28, 01:11 PM

Denver Broncos WR Cody Latimer (foot), TE Joel Dreessen (knee), DT Kevin Vickerson (hip) and PK Matt Prater (illness) are not participating in organized team activities Wednesday, May 28.

Footballguys view: Latimer is the player to watch here for fantasy owners. He's got a nice size/speed combination and can be a dominant target in the red zone. We'll see Latimer develop as the fourth-string receiver this year, but he could be starting in 2015 opposite Demaryius Thomas in the league's most high-powered offense.

Broncos | Kevin Vickerson says he'll be ready    Wed Feb 5, 12:53 PM

Denver Broncos DT Kevin Vickerson (hip) said he 'should be ready' for offseason training activities after rehabbing from his season-ending hip injury in 2013. 'Everything is getting better,' Vickerson said of his health. 'A long offseason for me - starting out rehabbing, I already started and the strengthening process. So now it's just getting back in shape and getting the strength back, too.'

Footballguys view: Good news for the Broncos here. Vickerson's injury wasn't as well publicized as other injuries to guys like Von Miller or Chris Harris. However, those around the team know how valuable "Big Vick" was to the defense.

Broncos | Kevin Vickerson to IR    Wed Nov 27, 07:25 PM

The Denver Broncos placed DT Kevin Vickerson (hip) on the season-ending Injured Reserve Wednesday, Nov. 27, and signed free-agent DT Sione Fua (Panthers) to an undisclosed deal in a corresponding move.

Footballguys view: The Broncos lose a big piece of their defense here. Vickerson is a large run defender who takes up a lot of space in the middle. We'll see a bigger opportunity for 2013 first-round pick Sylvester Williams. Veteran Mitch Unrein will get more snaps too.

Broncos | Kevin Vickerson could go on IR    Tue Nov 26, 01:41 PM

The Denver Broncos are leaning toward placing DT Kevin Vickerson (hip) on the season-ending Injured Reserve in order to add another defensive tackle to the active roster. Vickerson has been an early-down player in the team's base defense as well as nickel packages. DTs Mitch Unrein and Sylvester Williams split time filling in for Vickerson in Week 12.

Footballguys view: Williams, the Broncos 2013 first-round pick, hasn't materialized as a key player up front this season. He's been inactive three times this year and twice in the past four games. It will be time for the rookie to elevate his game now that Vickerson is hurt.

Broncos | Kevin Vickerson out    Tue Nov 26, 08:59 AM

Denver Broncos DT Kevin Vickerson (hip) suffered a dislocated hip in Week 12, and his season could be over. He doesn't need surgery, but he'll miss at least six weeks.

Footballguys view: Bad news for the Broncos ground defense here. "Big Vick" has been a big reason why the team has looked good against the run. They'll now turn to guys like Mitch Unrein and 2013 first-round pick Sylvester Williams to play a larger role.

Broncos | Kevin Dickerson re-signing    Tue Mar 12, 08:08 PM

The Denver Broncos will re-sign DT Kevin Vickerson to an undisclosed two-year deal.

Footballguys view: A good move for the Broncos here. Vickerson was a key piece to their interior D-Line last year and played in over 45% of the snaps in 2012.

Broncos | Two DTs may test free agency     Wed Feb 6, 04:38 PM

Denver Broncos impending free-agent DTs Justin Bannan and Kevin Vickerson could test the free-agent market to see what kind of deal they can get from other teams. The Broncos are interested in re-signing both players but likely only to short-term deals.

Footballguys view: Both signed for near veteran minimum deals last offseason and may not be willing to do that again. The Broncos have a huge need on the Defensive Line and that's where their focus is going to be this offseason. Many feel Denver is going to take a DT in the first-round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Broncos | Will wait and see with DT Warren    Sun May 27, 03:07 PM

Jeff Legwold, from the Denver Post, reports the Broncos will take a wait and see approach with veteran DT Ty Warren. The team recently asked him to take a pay cut, but Warren refused.

Footballguys view: When workouts become mandatory then the team will decide the fate of Warren. Right now he's not been participating at OTAs, but they are considered voluntary. The team needs a run stuffer like Warren in the middle of the D-Line, but he hasn't played in a regular season game since 2009 due to injuries.

Broncos | DT Vickerson heavier, looking to start    Sun May 27, 02:10 PM

Lindsay Jones, from the Denver Post, reports Broncos DT Kevin Vickerson checked in at OTAs weighing 324 lbs, and increase of almost 50 lbs from last year. "Coming off an injury, you could get out of shape with a bad body," Vickerson said. "A lot of guys, especially D-tackles, would come back way over-heavy, sloppy, bad weight. I've had that before, and I didn't want that again."

Footballguys view: The Broncos have pass rushing DTs like rookie Derek Wolfe on the roster, but they need run stuffers at the position too. Vickerson may help anchor against the run more than some think if veteran Ty Warren is cut because he refuses to cut his salary. Justin Bannan should be the other starting DT in Jack Del Rio's defense.

Broncos | Kevin Vickerson accepts pay cut    Sun May 13, 01:39 PM

The Denver Broncos have cut DT Kevin Vickerson's salary from $2.25 million to $1.2 million. The team likely would have released Vickerson if he did not accept the pay cut.

Footballguys view: Vickerson isn't a run stuffer but will play as a part time pass rushing DT next to second-round pick Derek Wolfe.

Broncos | Do not have to take DT in first round    Mon Apr 23, 06:22 PM

Denver Broncos executive vice president of player personnel John Elway said the team does not need to take a defensive tackle in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft because they are content with the ones they have on the roster. "We don't feel as bad about our tackles as everybody else does," Elway said. "I think that we feel OK there and [DT Ty Warren] will be back coming off an injury and [DT Kevin Vickerson] is coming back and then we have some young guys in there where we feel like we'll be OK. It's not nearly the need in our minds that people think it is."

Footballguys view: Every mock draft under the sun in recent weeks has the Broncos taking a DT at 25 overall. However, the team doesn't see the position as a weakness like others do. This is why we think they could select CB Dre Kirkpatrick (Alabama), C Peter Konz (Wisconsin), or RB Lamar Miller (Miami) in the first-round.

Broncos | Kevin Vickerson considered starter    Sun Jun 5, 02:58 PM

Denver Broncos DT Kevin Vickerson is considered one of the team's starting defensive tackles at this point of the offseason.

The team believes Vickerson will fit in better in this defense than he did in the 3-4 defensive alignment they used this season.

Footballguys view: Vickerson made more plays last year than some realize and it was important for the team to keep him around this season.

Broncos | Several players work out    Tue May 10, 04:00 PM

Walton, OG Zane Beadles, DT Kevin Vickerson, LB Joe Mays and DE Robert Ayers. They are scheduled to work out again Thursday, May 12.

Footballguys view: The Broncos have a new regime in place, with John Fox leading the way. With the lockout currently in place the players are forced to be working out on their own. It's interesting to note Orton's attendance as some feel the veteran quarterback may be on the trading block at this time.

Broncos | Kevin Vickerson vital to improvement    Tue Mar 8, 01:48 PM

The Denver Broncos believe DL Kevin Vickerson is a key component in the new 4-3 defensive scheme that the team is transitioning to, according to The Associated Press. 'I don't know if he's turned the corner, but he's definitely on the curve and is a guy that we think can definitely help us,' head coach John Fox said. 'He's got a lot of the tools physically that we're looking for.'

Footballguys view: Vickerson's new deal includes a $1 million guarantee even if there's a lockout. He should continue to improve as a player and could flourish in a John Fox defense.
