Updating a previous item, Indianapolis Colts RB Tyler Varga was placed on the Reserve/Retired list Tuesday, July 26.
| Footballguys view: No word as to why Varga retired, but it might have something to do with a concussion suffered last year. The Colts are especially thin at RB after this announcement. We imagine they'll be watching the waiver wire to see if other teams drop some decent talent at the RB position. |

Indianapolis Colts RB Tyler Varga (concussion) has been able to participate during offseason workouts and will compete for playing time during the preseason.
| Footballguys view: Undrafted out of Yale in 2015, Varga is an instinctive runner who has reliable hands as a receiver out of the backfield. Behind Frank Gore, the Colts have some interesting names in the mix for the remaining spots. Varga is going to compete with guys like Josh Ferguson and Trey Williams for perhaps only one or two spots. We like Williams the best, but Ferguson is a shifty receiver...so Varga will have his hands full in this competition. |

Indianapolis Colts CB Greg Toler (neck) and RB Tyler Varga (concussion) have been ruled out for the Week 4 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. CB Darius Butler (hip), LB Trent Cole (knee), CB Vontae Davis (ankle), RB Josh Robinson (back) and Hugh Thornton (knee) are listed as probable. Varga did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 2. Thornton and Toler were limited during practice, while the other players fully participated in practice. LB D'Qwell Jackson (non-injury), LB Robert Mathis (non-injury) and LB Bjoern Werner (non-injury) fully participated in practice and are no longer on the injury report.
