Panthers | Cam Newton will work with wide receivers    Thu Jul 10, 02:22 PM

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton will work with his wide receivers before training camp gets underway to try to get on the same page after missing time due to an ankle issue. 'It's been more difficult because Cam's coming off an ankle injury and he had to get surgery, so we couldn't throw with him as much as we would like,' Panthers receiver Tiquan Underwood said.

Footballguys view: The more he can get together with these guys the better. He was working with rookie Kelvin Benjamin already, so bringing in the other guys is even better. Newton is an easy QB1 for any format, though the lack of receivers makes it tough to see him as challenging the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning.

Panthers | Tiquan Underwood unlikely to be returner    Fri Mar 21, 11:37 PM

The Carolina Panthers will look to use WR Tiquan Underwood mainly as a wide receiver and not as a returner even though he has experience in that role.

Footballguys view: Good luck with that. Underwood is a bench-caliber wide receiver, but he has ability as a return man. The Panthers still have serious needs at the position despite adding a couple of guys this week.

Panthers | Sign Tiquan Underwood    Fri Mar 21, 01:12 PM

The Carolina Panthers signed WR Tiquan Underwood (Buccaneers) Friday, March 21. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Underwood is mostly a special teams player, but he'll get an opportunity to compete for playing time as a wide receiver in Carolina. He joins veteran Jerricho Cotchery at the top of the depth chart for the Panthers.

Panthers | Meeting with Tiquan Underwood    Thu Mar 20, 11:06 PM

Buccaneers | Tiquan Underwood shines    Sun Nov 24, 06:47 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Tiquan Underwood hauled in two touchdowns (7, 85) in the Week 12 game against the Detroit Lions, and he finished the day with three receptions and 108 yards. It was his first-career 100-yard game.

Footballguys view: Underwood has the speed to score long touchdowns, but not always the hands. The Tampa/Rutgers show is in full effect, and next week they get the Carolina secondary that gave up big plays deep to Mike Wallace this week.

Buccaneers | Tiquan Underwood expected to start    Mon Oct 28, 03:14 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Tiquan Underwood appears to be the leading candidate to start in place of WR Mike Williams (hamstring). WR Chris Owusu could take over the No. 3 wide receiver duties.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners need to look elsewhere for wide receiver help. It's all about Vincent Jackson in the Bucs' passing game, and nobody else if worthy of adding on your fantasy team.

Buccaneers | Mike Williams has torn hamstring    Fri Oct 25, 07:14 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Williams (hamstring) said he is dealing with a torn hamstring.

Footballguys view: Williams is a candidate for IR at this point. Chris Owusu or Tiquan Underwood could start in his place, but neither are worth pickups except in the very deepest of leagues.

Buccaneers | Tiquan Underwood re-signs    Tue Oct 1, 10:20 AM

Buccaneers | Kevin Ogletree, Tiquan Underwood ahead of Jordan Norwood    Wed Aug 28, 08:26 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Kevin Ogletree will open the season as the No. 3 wide receiver, and Tiquan Underwood will be No. 4. Both are considered ahead of newly acquired Jordan Norwood on the depth chart.

Footballguys view: Norwood exclusively plays as a slot receiver and will compete for a roster spot late in camp. He could help as a return man but WR Eric Page seems to have that position wrapped up.

Buccaneers | Kevin Ogletree the favorite for third receiver    Tue Aug 13, 06:26 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Kevin Ogletree appears to be the favorite for the third wide receiver job over WRs Tiquan Underwood and Chris Owusu. Underwood and Owusu have had strong showings as well, though, so they could see playing time.

Footballguys view: Ogletree has the experience edge and has been making noteworthy plays in practice. We're not expecting much fantasy value from Ogletree this year if he does win the WR3 job.

Buccaneers | Chris Owusu turning heads    Fri Aug 2, 02:11 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Owusu showed consistency so far during training camp, impressing the coach staff and fellow players. 'He's done a good job so far,' head coach Greg Schiano said. 'Now, it's only been a few practices, but you can only evaluate people on what they do and so far he's done a good job.' Owusu is locked in a battle with WRs Kevin Ogletree and Tiquan Underwood for the third receiver job.

Footballguys view: Owusu is tough with great straight-line speed. He fell out of the draft because of his multiple concussion history, but he could be a name to stash away if he wins the #3 job. The Bucs have a good downfield passing offense, and Owusu would be in line to start if either of Mike Williams or Vincent Jackson were to go down.

Buccaneers | Several in mix for return jobs    Tue Jul 23, 01:57 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Matt X. Brown, WR Eric Page, RB Michael Smith and WR Tiquan Underwood are expected to compete for the return jobs during training camp, which opens Wednesday, July 24. RB Jeff Demps is expected to report to the team late in the preseason, and he is expected to be in the mix as well.

Footballguys view: Page is a quick twitch player who can make defenders miss in the open field. Smith is competing for the primary backup RB job behind Doug Martin. He's got the speed to take it to the house on any play. Underwood is a savvy veteran who is a favorite of the staff.

Buccaneers | Several in mix for No. 3 WR job    Sun May 19, 04:10 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WRs Tiquan Underwood, Kevin Ogletree, Steve E. Smith and Chris Owusu are expected to be candidates for the No. 3 wide receiver job.

Footballguys view: Underwood may be the frontrunner in this competition. He's worked with head coach Greg Schiano since their days together at Rutgers. Owusu may be the sleeper player here. If he can stay healthy Owusu has a nice size/speed combination and arguably the highest upside of any of these players.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WRs Tiquan Underwood and Kevin Ogletree are expected to compete for the No. 3 wide receiver job during training camp.

Buccaneers | Mike Williams leads team in receiving in Week 10    Sun Nov 11, 10:53 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Williams had two receptions for a team-high 64 yards in Week 10 against the San Diego Chargers. Fellow WR Tiquan Underwood had two grabs for just 22 yards, but he was able to haul in a 15-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter. TE Dallas Clark also had just one catch for three yards, but that was good for a score.

Footballguys view: Williams wasn't targeted much in a game the Bucs were able to win with safe play on offense and big plays on defense and special teams. He's still a decent flex play and good bench wide receiver for the stretch run.

Buccaneers | Tiquan Underwood agrees to terms    Mon May 7, 06:44 PM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed to terms with free-agent WR Tiquan Underwood (Patriots). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Underwood was released by the Patriots last week after they signed veteran WR Jabar Gaffney. He's only 25-years old but has been used more as a return man than as a WR. Tampa Bay has a thin WR corps so Underwood will compete for a roster spot with guys like Dezmon Briscoe and Sammmie Stroughter.

Footballguys view: Underwood was released the day before the Super Bowl but took his release well. He still got $44,000 check that goes to each player on the losing team in the Super Bowl. The Pats sure could have used his deep speed to stretch the field against the Giants. Underwood will be able to work out with the team this offseason.
