Tampa Bay Buccaneers PK Lawrence Tynes (toe) is unhappy that he was placed on the Non-Football Injury list and is prepared to file an expedited grievance against the Buccaneers in an attempt to force the team to place him on Injured Reserve. The team is willing to pay Tynes' salary while he is on the NFI list, but Tynes would not receive an accrued season, full benefits and another season toward his pension if he is not moved from the NFI list to Injured Reserve.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers PK Lawrence Tynes (toe) has returned to his home in Kansas City, where he's receiving additional treatment for his case of MRSA. RB Brandon Jacobs tweeted that Tynes has received a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) line. A PICC line is used when the patient is expected to receive antibiotics for more than a few days and allows him to return home yet still receive IV treatment, which can last for weeks or even months. The team seems likely to place him on the non-football-injury list to begin the season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers OG Carl Nicks (toe) and PK Lawrence Tynes (toe) have been diagnosed with MRSA, which is a serious staph infection that is resistant to penicillin-type treatment. Tynes had surgery this week on his infected toe. The Buccaneers recently had their facility cleaned and sanitized to try to erase all of the infections.
Footballguys view: The Browns had to deal with this type of situation in the past. The facility will be cleaned thoroughly over the next two weeks before the start of the regular season. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano discussed how losing PK Connor Barth (Achilles') could affect the team's plans in 2013, saying Barth was a weapon with longer field goals. Schiano said he is not sure if PK Lawrence Tynes will be as effective from those distances. "I thought Connor was a weapon in the longer field goals," Schiano said. "He was exceptional over 40 yards. We'll have to play that out. I have not coached Lawrence at all. So, I couldn't tell you. I just look at the numbers. But we'll see. That'll all play itself out."
