Eagles | Philly trims roster    Fri Aug 30, 07:16 PM

Philadelphia Eagles DE Kasim Edebali, DE Eli Harold, LB Hayes Pullard and TE Will Tye were released Friday, Aug. 30. The team also waived WR Carlton Agudosi, S Trae Elston, C Anthony Fabiano, S Deiondre' Hall, CB Ajene Harris, CB Josh Hawkins, QB Cody Kessler, OT Riley Mayfield, CB Jeremiah McKinnon, WR Marken Michel, RB Donnel Pumphrey, OG Keegan Render, CB Sojourn Shelton, LB Alex Singleton, WR DeAndre Thompkins, S Jason Thompson and LB Chris Worley as well as waived/injured DT Aziz Shittu (undisclosed).

Footballguys view: Pumphrey has some passing game and return ability to offer, but he hasn't been able to crack the Eagles 53 yet. He could get a look elsewhere.

Eagles | Richard Rodgers leading for TE3 role?    Sat Jun 22, 02:50 AM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Richard Rodgers appears to be the favorite for the team's No. 3 tight end spot, according to NJ.com's Mike Kaye, who writes that Rodgers, TE Will Tye and TE Joshua Perkins could be competing for one roster slot. TEs Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert will fill the top two spots.

Footballguys view: Rodgers is a functional receiver, but underwhelming athletically. He flirted with fantasy relevance in Green Bay and the Eagles could lead the league in two and three tight end sets, but Rodgers is well off of our fantasy radar.

Eagles | Philly signs 10 to futures deals    Mon Jan 14, 08:07 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles signed LB Asantay Brown, C Anthony Fabiano, OG Kaleb Johnson, CB Jeremiah McKinnon, WR Braxton Miller, WR Dorren Miller, DE Joe Ostman, RB Donnel Pumphrey, CB Chandon Sullivan and TE Will Tye to Reserve/Futures contracts Monday, Jan. 14. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Braxton Miller was a third-round pick of the Texans in the 2016 NFL draft but he failed to develop as a receiver. He's incredibly athletic and can be a weapon on offense. We'll stubbornly monitor him but only in super deep dynasty formats. Pumphrey and Tye are worth keeping an eye on in those leagues as well.

Eagles | Will Tye signed by Eagles    Tue Nov 13, 04:56 PM

Free-agent TE Will Tye (Giants) was signed to the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad Tuesday, Nov. 13. TE Billy Brown was released from the practice squad in a corresponding move.

Footballguys view: Tye had 90 catches combined in two years (2015, 2016) with the Giants but he's failed to duplicate that type of performance since then. Last year for the Jets, Tye had only four catches for 38 yards (and spent most of the season on the Patriots practice squad). He gets a spot on the Eagles practice squad and we'll see if he can crack another 53-man roster again.

New England Patriots practice squad players C James Ferentz, WR Cody Hollister, S David X. Jones, OL Jason King, CB Ryan Lewis, WR Riley McCarron, S Damarius Travis, LB Trevor Reilly, TE Will Tye and CB Jomal Wiltz were signed Tuesday, Feb. 6.

Footballguys view: Tye is the player to watch here as we're always interested in Patriots tight ends. He was an intriguing dynasty player earlier in his career with the Giants, but Tye bounced to the Jets and then to the Patriots practice squad for 2017.

Jets | Will Tye cut loose by Gang Green    Tue Oct 3, 04:59 PM

The New York Jets waived TE Will Tye on Tuesday, Oct. 3.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. With the emergence of Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Tye was deemed expendable. He caught 90 passes over the last two years (both with the Giants), but Tye had only four receptions with the Jets in 2017.

The New York Jets have declared RB Matt Forte, QB Christian Hackenberg, CB Derrick Jones, TE Jordan Leggett, LB Josh Martin, TE Will Tye inactive for Week 4.

Jets | Week 3 status report for NYJ    Fri Sep 22, 04:10 PM

New York Jets TE Will Tye (illness) and DE Muhammad Wilkerson (shoulder) are questionable for Week 3. Wilkerson and FS Rontez Miles (eye) were limited participants in practice Friday, Sept. 22. Miles is listed as doubtful. OG Brian Winters (abdomen), TE Eric Tomlinson (elbow) did not practice and are out, while TE Jordan Leggett (knee) also did not practice but is doubtful. DE Leonard Williams (wrist), TE Neal Sterling (knee), DL Steve McLendon (hamstring), OL Jonotthan Harrison (concussion), RB Matt Forte (knee), LB Bruce Carter (ankle), OG James Carpenter (shoulder), OT Kelvin Beachum (knee) and WR Robby Anderson (knee) all practiced in full and are not on the injury report.

Footballguys view: Wilkerson is one of the best players left on the Jets defense. If he's less than full strength, the Dolphins offense's job gets even easier.

Giants | Will Tye done in New York    Sat Sep 2, 11:45 AM

Giants | Will Tye could be on trading block    Fri Jul 21, 01:38 PM

New York Giants TE Will Tye could be made available via trade late this summer as long as the rest of the position group stays healthy, according to ESPN.com's Jordan Raanan.

Footballguys view: We're not expecting teams to line up. Tye has had moments, but unless the Giants are willing to take very little - maybe a pack of gummy worms and part of a six pack of soda - expect him to be cut rather than traded.

Giants | Will Tye tendered    Wed Feb 15, 08:35 AM

Updating a previous report, New York Giants exclusive rights free-agent TE Will Tye signed a one-year, $615,000 contract late last week, according to a source.

Footballguys view: ERFAs have two choices once tendered. They can choose to play for the team that tendered them, or they can stop playing football. This tender basically locks up Tye with the Giants for 2017.

New York Giants TE Will Tye hauled in five receptions for 53 yards in the Week 10 game against the Cincinnati Bengals Monday, Nov. 14. He was targeted eight times.

Footballguys view: With Victor Cruz out, the Giants needed to have an alternative to Odell Beckham Jr and Tye stepped up. We're not sure if this is a bug or a feature yet, so we'd hold off getting too excited.

Giants | Will Tye to see bulk of snaps for NYG    Sat Oct 8, 12:35 PM

New York Giants TE Will Tye is expected to see the majority of playing time at tight end while Larry Donnell (concussion) is out, according to the ESPN's Jordan Raanan.

Footballguys view: Tye is a talented TE who could thrive without splitting the snaps with Donnell. Consider him a TE2 with upside against the Packers in Week 5.

Giants | Matt LaCosse in mix to start    Wed Aug 3, 01:10 AM

New York Giants TE Matt LaCosse was impressive in the spring, earning first-team snaps in practice, and he continues to get them in training camp. He has worked his way into a three-man race for the starting tight end job with TEs Larry Donnell and Will Tye.

Footballguys view: Chances are at least two players will play a role at tight end for the Giants, and there won't be a reliable fantasy play unless at least one of them gets hurt. Stay away in drafts.

Giants | Will Tye the favorite?    Mon Jul 25, 03:16 PM

New York Giants TE Will Tye is the favorite to start at tight end over TE Larry Donnell, in the opinion of NJ.com's Dan Duggan. TE Matt LaCosse is also expected to compete for the starting job.

Footballguys view: Earlier this year, reports said Tye 'caught everything' that came in his direction and 'showed remarkable consistency for a second-year player' during organized training activities and minicamps. Tye could be a sneaky TE1 this year if he wins the starting job over Larry Donnell.

Giants | Will Tye 'wonderful' during offseason    Sat Jul 9, 03:19 PM

New York Giants TE Will Tye 'caught everything' that came in his direction and 'showed remarkable consistency for a second-year player' during organized training activities and minicamps, according to Giants.com's John Schmeelk.

Footballguys view: The second-year player from Stony Brook turned heads in 2015. In the final eight games of his rookie season, Tye was targeted 50 times for 34 receptions , 387 yards and 3 touchdowns. Pro-rate that over a full season, and Tye could have a TE1 season for fantasy owners. In order to do that, Tye will have to beat out veteran Larry Donnell in training camp for the Giants top TE spot.

Giants | Two expected to fight for Giants' TE job    Fri Jul 1, 04:16 PM

New York Giants TE Larry Donnell and TE Will Tye are expected to compete for the starting tight end job during training camp.

Footballguys view: Donnell is not a slappy, but his injury history and inconsistency may cause him to lose out to Tye. In 2015 over the final eight games of his rookie season, Tye was targeted 50 times for 34 receptions , 387 yards and 3 touchdowns. He could pay off as a TE2 for fantasy owners this year. Right now, neither TE is getting drafted in most leagues. Keep Tye (if he wins the job) on your waiver-wire speed dial.

Giants | Will Tye could start    Sun May 22, 01:40 PM

New York Giants TE Will Tye's pass-catching potential and athleticism make him the favorite to start at tight end in 2016 for the Giants, in the opinion of Jordan Raanan of NJ.com. TEs Larry Donnell, Matt LaCosse and Jerell Adams will also be competing.

Footballguys view: Donnell may be listed as the starter on most depth charts right now, but that may not be the case when we get through training camp. Tye emerged last year, and his athleticism combined with solid route-running ability make him a TE2 with upside if he wins the starting job. In the final eight games of his rookie season, Tye was targeted 50 times for 34 receptions, 387 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Giants | Will Tye scores again    Sun Dec 20, 07:39 PM

New York Giants TE Will Tye caught a touchdown for the second straight week in a 38-35 loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 15, finishing with five catches for 43 yards and the score.

Footballguys view: Tye has become a reliable short-range target for Eli Manning. The undrafted rookie should be on your radar in dynasty leagues, and TE streamers already know his name heading into a Week 16 matchup with Minnesota.

Giants | Larry Donnell won't be out long    Wed Nov 4, 05:25 PM

New York Giants TE Larry Donnell (neck) is confident that the neck injury he suffered in Week 8 won't keep him out for long. Donnell said that he'll be back soon, but the Giants have no timetable for his return. Head coach Tom Coughlin said Donnell is week-to-week. 'I'm just taking it until I get motion back in it,' he said. 'We're just taking it day-by-day. So no timeframe, just whenever I'm able to get all my motion back in it.' Donnell wants to be 100% when he returns to action. TE Will Tye is currently the only tight end on the active roster.

Footballguys view: If he plays, Donnell's inconsistency makes him a shaky TE2. You don't mess with neck injuries though, so he and the Giants are right to be cautious. If he doesn't play, look for Will Tye to have a bigger role, though we're not sure how large it will be. He is a bit of a flex play at tight end, so consider him no more than a TE3 with upside if Donnell is out and don't play him if Donnell is active.

New York Giants TE Daniel Fells (ankle) was placed on the season-ending Reserve/Injured list Monday, Oct. 5, due to a staph infection in his ankle. TE Will Tye was subsequently promoted from the practice squad.
