Jets | Two notable players try out for Jets    Tue Sep 5, 07:03 PM

Free-agents OT Jah Reid (Chiefs) and RB Juwan Thompson (Broncos) worked out for the New York Jets Tuesday, Sept. 5, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Thompson ran well in the preseason for the Broncos but he couldn't make the final roster and is out of practice squad eligibility. He can play halfback or fullback and may get another shot with a new team.

Broncos | Juwan Thompson serves as backup    Thu Jul 27, 10:11 PM

Denver Broncos RB Juwan Thompson served as the backup to RB C.J. Anderson during training camp Thursday, July 27, with RB Devontae Booker (wrist) and RB Jamaal Charles not practicing.

Footballguys view: Sixth-rounder De'Angelo Henderson will push Thompson for a roster spot and he should get a long look in preseason games with Booker out and Charles getting the veteran treatment.

The Denver Broncos have declared CB Aqib Talib, QB Austin Davis, OT Billy Turner, OG Connor McGovern, DL Derek Wolfe, RB Juwan Thompson, CB Taurean Nixon inactive for Week 10.

Footballguys view: The Broncos will miss Talib and Wolfe facing a high-powered, balanced offense in the Superdome. Don't be as scared to play your Saints as you normally would against a defense that has the Broncos reputation.

Broncos | Juwan Thompson promoted from PS    Sat Oct 29, 05:35 AM

Denver Broncos RB Juwan Thompson was promoted from the practice squad Friday, Oct. 28.

Footballguys view: With C.J. Anderson on IR, the Broncos needed to make a move. Thompson can play RB or FB and is a good player on special teams. The Broncos rushing attack is going to be all about Devontae Booker for the rest of the regular season.

Broncos | Denver adds three to practice squad    Sun Sep 4, 01:56 PM

Free-agent RB Juwan Thompson (Broncos), WR Mose Frazier (Broncos) and TE Henry Krieger-Coble (Broncos) were signed to the Denver Broncos practice squad Sunday, Sept. 4.

Footballguys view: Frazier was Paxton Lynch's favorite target in college at Memphis. Krieger-Coble can make difficult catches, but he needs to gain 15 pounds of muscle to hold up as a TE in the pros.

Broncos | Denver makes roster moves    Fri Sep 2, 04:08 PM

Denver Broncos RB Juwan Thompson, WR Kalif Raymond and Mose Frazier were waived Friday. Sept. 2, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Juwan Thompson could do it all, but that wasn't enough to make the final cut.He can play fullback, running back and special teams, so he should find a landing spot. Kalif Raymond and Mose Frazier were just camp bodies, though Frazier was Paxton Lynch's most consistent and reliable receiver at the University of Memphis.

Broncos | Denver to run often    Wed Jul 6, 02:49 PM

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson said it's pretty obvious that head coach Gary Kubiak and the coaching staff will be more committed to the run this year after QB Peyton Manning retired. 'I don't think there's a question what coach (Kubiak) wants to do,' Anderson said recently. 'All you have to do is look out there and see a fullback running around ... I mean, we even drafted one. (Kubiak) wants to run the ball.' RBs Andy Janovich and Juwan Thompson have lined up at fullback in offseason practices. Denver used a two-back set just 25 times last year, but Kubiak is intent on going to the run more often moving forward. The Broncos beefed up their offensive line by adding OTs Russell Okung and Donald Stephenson, too.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners should be drooling over the prospects for Anderson this year...especially with his current ADP. Yes, Anderson has to prove that he can do it all year but we're talking about a back who has showcased his talent over the last half of the season in each of the last two years. In fact, Anderson led the NFL in rushing during the postseason and he capped off his year with a 23-carry, 90-yard (with one rushing TD) performance in Super Bowl 50. We could see him getting a similar workload this year as Denver's lead back. His current ADP is RB17 (4.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson the No. 1 back    Tue Jun 7, 11:16 PM

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson has looked like the No. 1 running back throughout organized team activities so far, and his cuts have been decisive like they were in the second half of last season after he recovered from his sprained ankle. Anderson is also adjusting well to having a fullback in front of him, with FBs Juwan Thompson and Andy Janovich competing for the role.

Footballguys view: How is this even a debate? The language of the NFL is money, and the Broncos paid Anderson a $5 million bonus as part of his new contract earlier this year. Along with those bags of money will come the football...as much as he can handle. Expect a workload similar to what he had in the Super Bowl where Anderson was allowed to control how much he was on the field and got 24 carries for 90 yards and a touchdown against a tough Panthers defense. If he can stay healthy, Anderson can thrive for the Broncos run-heavy offense.

Broncos | Andy Janovich, Juwan Thompson battling    Tue Jun 7, 11:14 PM

Denver Broncos FBs Andy Janovich and Juwan Thompson are battling for the starting fullback job. RB C.J. Anderson has worked with Thompson and built a relationship over the past two season, so they have timing down while working together. That's something Janovich will have to build with Anderson over time.

Footballguys view: The Broncos will have a real fullback this year, something that was missing last year. The fullback will take on the linebackers trying to tackle Anderson, and that could help keep Anderson healthier. The key to the Broncos rushing attack is keeping Anderson healthy. They've paid him a $5 million bonus earlier this year, and with those bags of money also comes the expectations that he can handle the largest workload of his pro career.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman doesn't practice    Wed Dec 9, 03:28 PM

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 9.

Footballguys view: It's Wednesday, so we're not really worried but make sure to check back on Friday at the latest. Hillman is the starter, but his backup C.J. Anderson was knocked from the Week 13 Chargers game with an ankle injury. The team needs both backs healthy for what they hope is a deep postseason run.

Broncos | Denver run game stalls again    Mon Sep 28, 12:59 PM

The Denver Broncos running game failed to materialize again in a Week 3 win over the Detroit Lions. RBs C.J. Anderson (concussion) and Juwan Thompson (neck) missed big chunks of the game due to injury, and the Broncos managed just 41 yards on the ground on 19 carries.

Footballguys view: Time to bail on the Broncos rushing attack. They want to get things figured out, but their offensive line isn't doing Anderson, Ronnie Hillman...anyone, any favors. Fantasy owners need to wait and see on this situation as the Broncos are back to being pass-happy on offense. Denver ran 99% of their plays in the pistol formation, making QB Peyton Manning more comfortable.

Broncos | Denver RB competition fierce    Fri Mar 27, 07:25 PM

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson, who finished 2014 with 648 rushing yards in the last six games, will enter the 2015 season at the top of the running back depth chart, according to new head coach Gary Kubiak. However, competition will be fierce for touches in training camp, with RBs Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman still around. Ball vowed 'to get back my job' at the end of last season after landing on the Injured Reserve. Hillman is a wild card, and he has yet to top 106 carries in any one season. RB Juwan Thompson is a possibility as a fullback/running back hybrid.

Footballguys view: Anderson enters camp as the starter, and he's the best fit--a near-perfect fit--for the zone-blocking system. Ball will look better in this system, but he needs to stop dancing in the backfield if he wants to play up to his potential. We think Hillman is a bad fit for the new system, and his role may be quite small in 2015.
