Jon Scott, from Scout.com, reports Adalius Thomas didn't work out in New England, but he could find a home elsewhere in the AFC East. The talented free agent is being pursued by two AFC East clubs. Unlike his foray into free agency three seasons ago, teams aren't exactly beating down the door to get to him.

Footballguys view: Many believe that Thomas will be eventually reunited with Rex Ryan, but nothing has come to fruition between the veteran and the Jets. The Miami Dolphins are also a team that has shown interest in Thomas. It looks as though Thomas will have to wait a little bit longer before he finds a new home for 2010.

Karen Guregian, of the Boston Herald, reports New England Patriots LB Adalius Thomas disputed the notion that he has a desire to play for the New York Jets, as recently described by Jets LB Bart Scott. Thomas claimed he never made any such intentions known to his former Baltimore Ravens teammate. 'I've heard of all the chatter up there about me,' Thomas said in an e-mail. 'It was about something Bart Scott said on TV, (and) that's not what was said ... I have never told anyone that I wanted to leave and go play for the Jets.'

He made it public that he's expressed interest in joining (head coach) Rex (Ryan). I think some of his better years of his career have been a part of the Ravens' defense and under Rex Ryan's tutelage. It'll be exciting.'

That means the team's potential release of LB Adalius Thomas will not come until after that date. The team could also look to trade Thomas after March 5.

It was something bigger than that. You guys watch the games. I was used totally differently this year than I was last year before I broke my arm. Even before I came back, I was told that I was going to be used differently,' Thomas said. He indicated that he does not want to return to the team next season.

Albert Breer, of the Boston Globe, reports New England Patriots LB Adalius Thomas said he does not have to apologize for being late because he could not control the things that made him late. 'There's one thing about Mother Nature -- You can't control that,' Thomas said. 'You can't run people over getting to work. There's nothing to apologize about. I wasn't trying to be late. I don't know what to say. You leave home, there are people there, cars sitting in the road, you're sitting there, what are you gonna do? It's not the Jetsons. I can't jump up and fly. What am I supposed to do?'

Footballguys view: We like the Jetsons reference by Thomas here. In all seriousness this whole story would have been a non-issue if the Patriots hadn't lost their last two games.

Updating a previous item, Shalise Manza Young, of the Providence Journal, reports New England Patriots WR Randy Moss, DE Derrick Burgess, LB Adalius Thomas and LB Gary Guyton were sent home Wednesday, Dec. 9, for being late for a morning meeting. The players were apparently delayed by weather conditions, and all four were told to go home. None of the players were allowed to participate in team meetings or practice Wednesday.

Footballguys view: Head coach Bill Belichick is making a statement here. Had the Patriots not lost the last 2 games then perhaps he would have reacted differently.
