Cardinals | Warner nearly perfect Week 2 Sun Sep 20, 06:54 PM
The Associated Press reports Arizona Cardinals QB Kurt Warner was 24-for-26 for 243 yards with two touchdown passes Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Warner also set the league's single-game record for completion percentage by completing 92.3 percent of his passes. Former NFL QB Vinny Testaverde held the previous record when he completed 21 of 23 passes for the Cleveland Browns in 1993. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt replaced Warner late in the third quarter because he did not want to risk Warner getting hurt.
Footballguys view: Warner abused the struggling Jaguar defense, starting hot and staying hot in a little over two quarters of play. Warner's shoulder is still not 100% and he remains a major durability risk, but he's got as much one week upside as any quarterback in the league not named Drew Brees. |
