Bengals | Tee Higgins a game-time decision Sat Oct 14, 12:10 AM
Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins (ribs) will be a game-time decision for Week 6, according to head coach Zac Taylor.
Footballguys view: Higgins missed Week 5, but a full participation on Friday in practice means he's on track to play. Rib injuries come down to pain tolerance, so if Higgins plays then we like him as a deep 'what the heck' flex in Week 6 against the Seahawks. |

Bengals | Joe Burrow not close to returning Thu Aug 10, 12:00 AM
Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow (calf) is still several weeks away from returning to the field, according to head coach Zac Taylor.
Footballguys view: Taylor has not answered whether this injury is going to keep Burrow out of action when the regular season begins. If Burrow is not ready for Week 1, the Bengals have veteran Trevor Siemian to plug in as the starter. As the regular season draws near, we might not get many more updates on Burrow's status. Stay tuned. |

Bengals | Joe Mixon still the lead back Wed Dec 7, 10:41 PM
Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon (concussion) will lead the backfield when he returns from injury, head coach Zac Taylor said Wednesday, Dec. 7. 'Joe Mixon is our starting running back,' Taylor said. 'In the last (full) game he played in, he had five touchdowns, tremendous effort.'
Footballguys view: The Bengals have played good football with RB Samaje Perine starting in the place of an injured Mixon. When Mixon is cleared from the concussion protocol, he's back in the starting lineup and Perine becomes a valuable backup. When this happens, from a fantasy perspective, Mixon is an RB1 for Fantasy GMs and Perine is an RB3/flex option. |

Bengals | Joe Mixon not ready yet Wed Dec 7, 03:18 PM
Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon (concussion) is still going through the concussion protocol and will not be cleared until he participates in a contact practice, according to head coach Zac Taylor.
Footballguys view: Mixon will have to participate in practice, then the Bengals will have to examine how his body responds. He's no sure thing to get back on the field in Week 14, although earlier it did seem like things were trending that way. Stay tuned. |

Bengals | Joe Burrow will return 'when he's ready' Sat Jul 30, 07:06 PM
Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow (appendix) doesn't have a timetable for return yet after undergoing an appendectomy, according to head coach Zac Taylor on Saturday, July 30.
Footballguys view: There's no need to rush Burrow back into action. He's going to be ready...when he's ready. There is no doubt Burrow is going to put in the work studying while he continues to recover from getting his appendix removed. We should see him out there sometime during training camp. |

Bengals | Tee Higgins expected to miss workouts Mon Apr 25, 07:33 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins (shoulder) is not expected to participate in any offseason workouts since he is recovering from shoulder surgery, according to head coach Zac Taylor.
Footballguys view: Higgins is going to miss offseason workouts so the goal is to have him ready at some point in training camp. He's been spotted in a sling earlier this month, so Higgins has more time left to recover. Stay tuned. |

Bengals | Zac Taylor extended Wed Feb 16, 10:50 AM
Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor received an extension through the 2026 season Wednesday, Feb. 16. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
Footballguys view: Taylor's going to turn 39-years old later this year, but the Bengals have seen enough to extend his contract. Leading a team to the Super Bowl will do that. They're under the right guidance with Taylor as the head coach. Now, they need to fix their offensive line - in a hurry - so they don't keep getting QB Joe Burrow hit and ruin him. |

Bengals | C.J. Uzomah has chance to play Wed Feb 9, 06:52 PM
Cincinnati Bengals TE C.J. Uzomah (knee) has a decent chance to play in Super Bowl LVI, according to head coach Zac Taylor.

Bengals | Zac Taylor staying Mon Jan 4, 08:12 AM
Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor will remain as head coach in 2021.
Footballguys view: That sounds about right. Taylor gets another year with QB Joe Burrow and we'll see if the team can start fast and finish strong in the competitive AFC North. The Bengals have plenty of offensive talent like Burrow, RB Joe Mixon and WRs Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd. The team needs to build a better offensive line and continue to add talent on defense as well. |

Bengals | Joe Mixon day-to-day Wed Nov 18, 01:19 PM
Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon (foot) is considered day-to-day because of his foot injury, according to head coach Zac Taylor.
Footballguys view: Mixon has been out for some time, and we'll watch his practice status on Friday. If he has to miss another game, then Gio Bernard would be the Bengals lead back in Week 11. |

Bengals | Slow start for A.J. Green Thu Sep 24, 01:58 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green is trying to get in sync in his return to the field and is adapting to playing in head coach Zac Taylor's system after missing its debut a season ago. 'I'm still rusty,' Green admitted recently. 'I'm still learning the system.'
Footballguys view: Green doesn't look like his old self. The Bengals passing attack does look good, so it gives us hope that Green can start producing more. Consider Green a WR3/flex play in his current hopefully less-rusty state. |

Bengals | A.J. Green still day-to-day Mon Dec 9, 04:30 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (ankle) is still considered day-to-day, according to head coach Zac Taylor.
Footballguys view: It would be news if he was actually practicing. Taylor continues to hope that Green will play this season but we don't see that happening. They are banged up at the position even more now with Auden Tate injured. |

Bengals | A.J. Green remains day-to-day Mon Nov 25, 10:04 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (ankle) is still consider day to day, as he makes his way back from ankle surgery. Head coach Zac Taylor made a change back to QB Andy Dalton from QB Ryan Finley, but he said the QB change has nothing to do with Green, and they're two separate issues.

Bengals | CIN buying in on Zac Taylor Mon Jul 1, 10:44 AM
Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard said the team is buying in to head coach Zac Taylor's plan. 'Just getting accustomed to the new playbook and accustomed to the change,' Bernard said. 'Everybody is really trying to understand how coach Taylor wants this team to be (run.) I think everybody is really buying in.'
Footballguys view: The offense should be better this year, although losing first-round pick Jonah Williams, who was slated to be the left tackle, is a big blow. Taylor will bring over ideas from the successes of the Rams, who have a similar group of skill players to the Bengals and a quarterback who is a good extension of the coach on the field. |

Bengals | Cincinnati names Zac Taylor head coach Mon Feb 4, 01:47 PM
Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor was officially named as the new head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday, Feb. 4.
Footballguys view: The Bengals were just waiting for the Rams playoff run to be done in order to make this announcement. The Rams QB coach does have one month of experience being an offensive coordinator (five games with the Dolphins in 2015) but this is a big leap for him as the replacement for Marvin Lewis. Taylor got this job in part because of his work under Rams head coach Sean McVay. After a Super Bowl where McVay was thoroughly outcoached, this hiring of Taylor is a bit less exciting. |
