Falcons | Jacob Tamme to hit FA market    Wed Mar 1, 05:05 PM

Atlanta Falcons impending free-agent TE Jacob Tamme will be allowed to test the free-agent market, according to general manager Thomas Dimitroff.

Footballguys view: We could see Tamme moving on in free agency. He could follow former Falcons OC (and new 49ers head coach) Kyle Shanahan to San Francisco.

49ers | SF interested in Jacob Tamme?    Sun Feb 19, 10:01 AM

The San Francisco 49ers could be interested in impending free-agent TE Jacob Tamme if he doesn't re-sign with the Atlanta Falcons, according to multiple sources.

Footballguys view: Tamme should follow Kyle Shanahan. He knows the system and could help guide the young players on the 49ers as they learn the complicated language of the offense.

Falcons | Jacob Tamme to be UFA    Sun Jan 8, 03:47 PM

Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme will be an unrestricted free agent Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. EST.

Footballguys view: Turning 32 years old in March, Tamme is clearly not the player he used to be. However, he can still be an effective player when healthy and given a certain role. His work ethic and ability to be a QB's best friend should land him a job somewhere in 2017. When Falcons OC Kyle Shanahan lands a head coaching job, watch to see if Tamme would follow him.

Updating previous reports, Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme (shoulder) had season-ending surgery on his shoulder Thursday, Nov. 17.

Falcons | Jacob Tamme likely done for the year    Tue Nov 15, 11:22 PM

Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme (shoulder) is expected to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery this week. As previously reported, Tamme to set to get a second opinion on his shoulder, but it's 'highly likely' he'll need the surgery, according to ESPN's Vaughn McClure.

Footballguys view: Since Tamme went out, Austin Hooper has really stepped up catching nine balls on 14 targets for 95 yards and a touchdown. Last week he was shut down as the offense couldn't do much against the Philadelphia Eagles. We think he'll bounce back after the bye week.

The Atlanta Falcons have declared DL Cliff Matthews, CB Desmond Trufant, TE Jacob Tamme, S Sharrod Neasman, RB Stevan Ridley, RB Tevin Coleman, OG Wes Schweitzer inactive for Week 10.

Footballguys view: Devonta Freeman will be the starter again this week. Even though the Philadelphia defense is tough, Freeman should be a good bet for at least 80-100 total yards and most goal line running back opportunities.

Falcons | Jacob Tamme will not play    Fri Nov 11, 02:58 PM

Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme (shoulder) will sit out for a second consecutive game in Week 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Footballguys view: Austin Hooper is a viable streamer this week despite the tough on paper matchup. Almost everything Matt Ryan and Kyle Shanahan have touched this year has turned to gold, and the Eagles defense wasn't very scary against the Giants passing game last week.

Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme (shoulder) will not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 10, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn said Tamme probably will not be able to play in Week 10.

Falcons | Two Falcons out for Week 9    Wed Nov 2, 12:16 PM

Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme (shoulder) and DE Dwight Freeney (quadriceps) were ruled out for Week 9.

Footballguys view: Without Tamme, rookie Austin Hooper gets the start. He's a desperation play at TE this week, but there's a chance he could score a TD against a hapless Bucs defense.

Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme (shoulder) will not play Thursday, Nov. 3, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme (hip) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 7, and is not on the injury report for Week 5.

Falcons | Atlanta won't force the ball to Julio Jones    Sat Sep 24, 01:04 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones only has 13 targets through two games this season after recording 204 last year, and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan doesn't appear interested in changing that approach anytime soon.

Footballguys view: Six Falcons have four or more receptions through the first two games, while TE Jacob Tamme has two more catches and three more targets than Jones. Jones is still a WR1 for fantasy owners.

Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme had 10 catches for 103 yards and a touchdown in a 23-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 8.

Footballguys view: With Leonard Hankerson out, Roddy White still didn't have enough left in the tank to be a core option for the Falcons. Instead, Tamme stepped up working the middle of the field and gave Matt Ryan a viable second option after Julio Jones. He's back on TE streamer radar.

Falcons | Jacob Tamme likely will play    Fri Oct 9, 05:57 PM

Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme (concussion) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 9, and is listed as probable for the Week 5 game against the Washington Redskins.

Footballguys view: The Falcons could sure use help at the tight end position. Tamme isn't done yet, but he's certainly not the player he used to be. We've got him as a TE2...and a low-end one at that against Washington in Week 5.

Falcons | Jacob Tamme not limited Thursday    Thu Oct 8, 04:23 PM

Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme (concussion) is currently going through the concussion protocol after he suffered the injury in Week 3.

Falcons | Jacob Tamme suffers injury    Thu Sep 3, 07:32 PM

Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme (back) suffered a back injury during the final preseason game Thursday, Sept. 3, and is considered questionable to return.

Footballguys view: We're not sure how well this offense is going to work with the offensive line a mess as it is now. Tamme is a weak fantasy play most weeks and even healthy might be useless as anything more than a blocker.

Falcons | Atlanta has high hopes for Jacob Tamme    Fri Jul 24, 06:39 PM

Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme could be the best tight end the Falcons have had since TE Tony Gonzalez retired, according to Vaugh McClure of ESPN.com.

Footballguys view: Tamme is not washed up, but in Denver he didn't get much of an opportunity behind Julius Thomas and Virgil Green. With the Falcons, we should see Tamme emerge as the top tight end. For fantasy purposes, we only consider Tamme a high-end TE3 with upside.

Falcons | Jacob Tamme may be in lead for TE job    Wed Jun 17, 12:31 PM

Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme appears to be the leading candidate for the starting tight end job but is being pushed by TEs Tony Moeaki and Levine Toilolo. Head coach Dan Quinn indicated Toilolo could be used more as a blocker this season.

Footballguys view: Moeaki has talent, but he always seems to be banged up. Toilolo is a captain on the Black Eyed Joe All-Name team, but he's coming off a seriously disappointing 2014 where he stayed in to block mostly. Tamme is a team-first guy, and he's got more left in the tank than some think. No Atlanta tight end is getting selected in 12-team PPR leagues at this time, but keep the veteran Tamme on your waiver-wire speed dial.

Falcons | Jacob Tamme standing out    Wed Jun 3, 09:32 PM

Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme has been a standout during the early going of organized team activities.

Footballguys view: Tamme has more left in the tank than some people think. He'll compete with Levine Toilolo to be the Falcons top tight end. The Kyle Shanahan offense is going to have plenty of designed plays for the tight end position. Tamme should be on your waiver-wire speed dial during the season in case you need help at tight end.

Falcons | Jacob Tamme signs with Atlanta    Thu Mar 19, 10:57 AM

Free-agent TE Jacob Tamme (Broncos) signed an undisclosed deal with the Atlanta Falcons Thursday, March 19.

Footballguys view: Tamme isn't a long-term answer at the position, but he'll certainly help. Buried behind Julius Thomas in Denver, Tamme might have more left in the tank than some think. The Falcons have been looking for a good tight end since Tony Gonzalez retired, and now they have one. Tamme isn't going to set the world on fire, but he could be a solid TE2 for fantasy owners.

Broncos | Candidates to be re-signed    Mon Feb 23, 06:20 PM

Denver Broncos impending free-agent LB Nate Irving, C Will Montgomery and TEs Virgil Green and Jacob Tamme are priorities to be re-signed this offseason. However, Irving figures to test the free-agent market with LBs Danny Trevathan and Brandon Marshall set as inside linebackers.

Footballguys view: Green is an underrated receiver who could take on a much larger role if Julius Thomas moves on in free agency. Tamme could return because he's a good special teams player and very close to QB Peyton Manning. Irving is a decent player--primarily as a two-down thumper--but he could draw some interest on the open market.
