Cardinals | Ryan Swope to Reserve-Retired list Thu Jul 25, 07:07 PM
The Arizona Cardinals placed rookie WR Ryan Swope (concussion) on the Reserve/Retired list because of ongoing concussion issues.
Footballguys view: Swope released a statement via his agency Rep1 Sports that he suffered another concussion during OTAs and was advised that there are serious risks to returning to the game. He will return to Texas A&M to work on his degree and reassess his football prospect next year. Five or ten years ago, Swope might have been practicing with the team right now. Concussion awareness and a better understanding of when it is not safe for players to play after head injuries continues to change the injury landscape of the NFL. |

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said the team is expected to know if WR Ryan Swope (concussion) passed his physical and has been cleared to participate in training camp Monday, July 22.
Footballguys view: Swope is a talented rookie WR who fell to the sixth-round of the 2013 NFL draft due to concussion worries. If healthy he could be a dangerous weapon as a slot WR for the Cardinals. Swope is a crisp route runner with incredible my ball mentality and elite concentration. There's a chance the Cardinals could put Swope on Injured Reserve and shelve him during his rookie season. |

Cardinals | Team surprised by WR Swope's concussion symptoms Sun Jun 23, 06:16 PM
The Arizona Cardinals are reportedly concerned with rookie WR Ryan Swope (Texas A&M) missing OTAs due to concussion symptoms. "We were very, very, very surprised about it," Arians told NFL.com on Friday. "I'm not sure what he can do, I'm not sure what the doctors are going to do at this point. I hope ... because the kid is a great talent, and it would be a shame. But having Austin Collie last year go through this same thing, it's scary."
Footballguys view: The team is going to be very cautious with Swope as he deals with these concussion symptoms. Swope was incredibly talented in college but fell to the sixth-round in the 2013 NFL draft because of durability concerns. If healthy Swope can line up at multiple spots, has strong hands, and the speed to get open in a hurry. |

Cardinals | Concerned about Ryan Swope's status Sat Jun 22, 11:01 AM
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said he is concerned about WR Ryan Swope (concussion) because the team did not expect him to sit out offseason workouts because of concussion symptoms. 'I'm not sure what he can do, I'm not sure what the doctors are going to do at this point. I hope ... because the kid is a great talent, and it would be a shame. But having [WR Austin Collie] last year, go through this same thing, it's scary.'
Footballguys view: Swope is incredibly talented but fell to the sixth-round of the 2013 NFL draft because of concussion problems. If he's able to stay healthy then the Cardinals got a tremendous value. He can line up at multiple positions, has strong hands, and knows how to find the soft spot in a defense. |

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said he hopes WR Ryan Swope (head) will be ready for training camp. Swope has missed some offseason workouts because of reported concussion-like symptoms.
Footballguys view: These concussion problems are a real concern. Swope is incredibly talented and can be a QBs best friend because of his strong hands and crisp routes. We love his natural ability but he needs to get and stay healthy in order to play up to his potential. |

Cardinals | Ryan Swope misses practice Mon Jun 3, 04:03 PM
Arizona Cardinals WR Ryan Swope (head) did not participate in organized team activities Monday, June 3, apparently because of concussion-like symptoms stemming from the head injuries he suffered in college. Head coach Bruce Arians would not say what injury Swope was dealing with but does expect Swope to be fine.
Footballguys view: Swope is incredibly talented as a WR but concussion problems caused him to slide to the sixth-round in the 2013 NFL draft. If healthy Swope could be a fine 'X' or slot receiver for the Cardinals. He has great hands, knows how to find soft spots in the zone, and is quick in and out of his breaks. |

Cardinals | Four draft picks signed Fri May 10, 01:41 PM
The Arizona Cardinals have signed fifth-round draft choice RB Stepfan Taylor, sixth-round draft choices WR Ryan Swope and RB Andre Ellington, and seventh-round draft choice TE D.C. Jefferson to four-year deals. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: We love the upside of all these players. Taylor is a good all purpose running back who could be an effective starter if he gets the chance. Durability (concussion) concerns caused Swope to fall in the draft but if healthy he can play 'X' receiver or in the slot. Swope has a Wes Welker-like skill set. Ellington is a speed back who could be a nice change of pace player. Jefferson is known as a strong blocker but proved at the Shrine Game that he's developing as a good receiver too. |

Dolphins | Ryan Swope could be option Wed Apr 24, 08:08 PM
The Miami Dolphins could consider taking Texas A&M WR Ryan Swope at some point during the 2013 NFL Draft if they trade WR Davone Bess.
Footballguys view: Swope makes a ton of sense for the Dolphins. He played under OC Mike Sherman and caught passes from QB Ryan Tannehill when they were together at Texas A&M. Swope is one of our favorite WRs in this draft class. He was the second fastest WR at the Scouting Combine and can play either 'X' or flex for any team that takes him. |

Swope is a reliable receiver with strong hands and speed. He can play 'X' receiver or in the slot. Most scouts see him as a second- or third-round pick. |

Bears | Ryan Swope visits Fri Apr 19, 05:53 PM
The Chicago Bears recently met with Texas A&M WR Ryan Swope.
Footballguys view: Swope is one of our favorite WRs in this draft class. He would be a great addition for the revamped Bears offense and instantly would earn the trust of QB Jay Cutler. Swope is a hard worker who can get open underneath and is fearless when running routes over the middle. He can line up at 'X' or in the slot. Swope is considered to be a second- or third-round pick. |

Bills | Three visit Thu Apr 4, 02:25 PM
The Buffalo Bills hosted pre-draft visits with Texas A&M WR Ryan Swope, University of Texas S Kenny Vaccaro and Louisiana State LB Kevin Minter Thursday, April 4.
Footballguys view: Vaccaro could be an option for the Bills in the first-round. He's the best FS in this draft class because he can cover and stuff the run. Minter would fit in the second-round. Some say he could be this year's Lavonte David (Buccaneers). Swope may not be there in the third-round but if he is the Bills would be wise to scoop him up. He can play both 'X' and slot WR because of his speed and athleticism. |

West Virginia WR Tavon Austin and Texas A&M WR Ryan Swope officially ran the 40-yard dash in 4.34 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Footballguys view: Austin is seen as a first-round pick and has drawn comparisons to Randall Cobb (Packers) because of his big play ability. Swope plays a lot like Danny Amendola (Rams) or Davone Bess (Dolphins) and should be a quality slot WR. |

NFL | Ryan Swope looking good Fri Feb 15, 11:05 PM
Texas A&M WR Ryan Swope has looked good during combine training, and scouts estimated he runs the 40-yard dash in the 4.5-second range. He has also stood out in jumps and agility drills.
Footballguys view: Swope had to leave the Senior Bowl early after straining his Achilles'. He's healthy now and ready to impress at the Combine. Most in the scouting community feel he's a combination of Dolphins WR Davone Bess and Rams WR Danny Amendola. We like his toughness over the middle, quickness in and out of his breaks, and concentration. He should be a fine slot WR at the pro level. |
