Dolphins | Will Davis likely to be nickel CB    Tue Aug 20, 10:21 PM

Miami Dolphins CB Will Davis appears to be in line to serve as the team's No. 3 cornerback following the release of CB Richard Marshall. CBs Nolan Carroll, R.J. Stanford and Jamar Taylor are also candidates for the nickel back spot.

Footballguys view: Davis is a talented rookie out of Utah State who has the footwork to change direction with ease. We like his click and close ability as he can break fast on the route when a receiver makes his break. He should work nicely as the team's nickel corner.

The Carolina Panthers have declared DL Andre Neblett, OT Jeff Otah, QB Jimmy Clausen, RB Mike Goodson, LB Omar Gaither, CB R.J. Stanford, FB Richard Brockel inactive for Week 6.

Footballguys view: Otah being out is a blow to the offensive line, but Cam Newton has been fine without Otah this year. Goodson is in the doghouse and rookie Kealoha Pilares will return kicks this week.

Panthers | David Gettis, R.J. Stanford signed    Tue Jun 15, 05:03 PM

The Carolina Panthers have signed sixth-round draft choice WR David Gettis and seventh-round draft choice CB R.J. Stanford, according to Darin Gantt, of the Rock Hill Herald. Terms of the contract were disclosed.

Footballguys view: David Gettis is one of our favorite sleeper wide receivers from the 2010 NFL Draft class. Dynasty owners need to remember his name as we feel Gettis could develop into a fine possession receiver for the Panthers in the future. Our very own Cecil Lammey watched Gettis up close during the week of practice for the Texas vs The Nation game this year and came away impressed. Gettis will catch everything thrown his way, and can go low or sky high to make the catch. He needs to catch more with his hands and less with his body, but the determination is there. He'll compete for playing time this year behind Steve Smith, Brandon LaFell, Dwayne Jarrett, and Armanti Edwards.
