Steelers | May look to restructure Aaron Smith's contract Thu Jul 14, 02:54 PM
The Pittsburgh Steelers may ask DE Aaron Smith to restructure his contract once the lockout is over so they can make room under their salary cap.

Steelers | Ziggy Hood is the future of the defensive line Thu Jul 14, 01:14 AM
Pittsburgh Steelers DL Aaron Smith (triceps) might return from a torn triceps tendon to re-claim his starting job, but DL Ziggy Hood is the future of the defensive line. Smith might start on the left side of the line, but that's mainly due to his tenure rather than ability. Hood and rookie DL Cam Heyward represent the future.
Footballguys view: The Steelers are set up nicely for the future with both Hood and Heyward. Smith is an important veteran but injuries have slowed him the last couple of seasons. Hood will be ready to take over anytime, while Heyward will take a year or so to get used to the pro game. |

Steelers | Aaron Smith injury update Fri May 13, 11:04 AM
The prognosis for Pittsburgh Steelers DE Aaron Smith's (triceps) recovery from a torn triceps tendon is still a little murky. Although there have been no setbacks, Smith is not fully recovered, and it is still unclear at this point if he will be 100 percent recovered in time for training camp.
Footballguys view: Smith will not surrender his starting job to Ziggy Hood or rookie Cameron Heyward just yet. The team has good depth on the defensive line and could ease Smith back into the lineup when he's ready. |
