Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Norv Turner used RB Chris Ogbonnaya as a fullback in two-back sets during offseason workouts, but said the team is likely to keep a traditional fullback in the offense. When asked if Ogbonnaya, a tailback, can fill that role, Turner said, 'He can do some of it.' It appears FBs Owen Marecic and Brad Smelley will be fighting for one roster spot.

Cleveland Browns FB Owen Marecic is the incumbent at the position, but he is viewed as a mostly blocking fullback. TE Brad Smelley has the versatility as a pass receiver, but he is not a true lead blocker. Lastly, TE E. Alex Smith is also in the mix for H-back duties. Two of those players might not make the 53-man roster.
| Footballguys view: Smelley has been impressive this offseason according to reports, but he's not the all-around player that Marecic is. If the battle is close perhaps the Browns could place Smelley on the Practice Squad to develop as a rookie. |

University of Alabama TE Brad Smelley measured 6-foot-2, 237 pounds at his Pro Day Wednesday, March 9. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.77 seconds and 4.76 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.49 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.15 seconds. He measured a 9-foot-4 broad jump and completed 13 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press.
