Jets| NYJ sheds 11 from roster    Sun Aug 28, 06:43 PM

The New York Jets released RB Lache Seastrunk, PK Ross Martin, OL Jesse Davis, C Kyle Friend, OG Jarvis Harrison, LB Deion Barnes, DT Shelby Harris, DE Helva Matungulu, RB Terry Williams, TE Jason Vander Laan and WR Kyle Williams.

Footballguys view: With the release of Martin, Nick Folk is officially the winner of a kicker battle that was probably over weeks ago. Seastrunk's intriguing suddenness and elusiveness in the open field has failed to make a roster yet again.

Jets | New York makes two roster moves     Sat Aug 13, 02:07 PM

New York Jets RB Matthew Tucker (undisclosed) was waived/injured Saturday, Aug. 13. Free-agent RB Lache Seastrunk (Cowboys) was subsequently signed.

Footballguys view: Seastrunk is back in the league, but we don't expect him to stick around. He's super fast in a straight line, but Seastrunk does not change direction well. Seastrunk is not a great receiver out of the backfield either.

Cowboys | Lache Seastrunk had trouble with plays    Thu Aug 20, 09:36 PM

Free-agent RB Lache Seastrunk (Cowboys) frustrated the Dallas Cowboys with his inability to stick to the plays that were called.

Footballguys view: There were times when he clearly made some ill-conceived decisions, missing holes and running into tacklers when he had open space. He may get another shot if someone gets hurt over the next few weeks, but only as depth. He has no fantasy relevance.

Cowboys | Lache Seastrunk waived    Thu Aug 20, 06:05 PM

Dallas Cowboys RB Lache Seastrunk was waived Thursday, Aug. 20.

Footballguys view: Seastrunk was awful during the camp and might have a hard time catching on elsewhere. This doesn't clarify a messy backfield though, and we still have a lot of doubts. Joseph Randle is the best bet as a shaky RB3, but we have no idea how this RBBC will play out.

Cowboys | Lache Seastrunk receiving reps    Fri Jun 12, 06:35 PM

Dallas Cowboys RB Lache Seastrunk received increased reps at organized team activities this week because of injuries to RBs Darren McFadden (hamstring) and Ryan Williams (knee).

Footballguys view: Seastrunk is really fast in a straight line. He's not creative or elusive as a runner, and Seastrunk cannot be relied on as a receiver out of the backfield.

Cowboys | Lache Seastrunk off to Dallas    Mon Jun 8, 11:35 AM

Free-agent RB Lache Seastrunk (Redskins) will sign with the Dallas Cowboys in the next few days.

Footballguys view: Seastrunk's game is all about speed, speed and more speed. He's not creative or elusive, and Seastrunk has bounced around the league in one year as a pro. Originally a sixth-round pick by Washington in the 2014 NFL draft, Seastrunk was released and spent time on the Panthers and Titans practice squads. The Cowboys are getting some depth at running back here, but we're not certain Seastrunk makes the final roster.

Titans | Lache Seastrunk cut    Mon May 18, 02:42 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Lache Seastrunk was released Monday, May 18.

Footballguys view: Seastrunk is incredibly fast, but he's not a patient or disciplined runner. A 2014 sixth-round pick by Washington, Seastrunk has already bounced around in the pros. He's unlikely to latch on permanently anywhere.

Titans | Eight signed to futures deals    Mon Dec 29, 07:34 PM

The Tennessee Titans re-signed CB Ri'Shard Anderson, LB Nate Askew, OG Justin McCray, OT William Poehls, RB Lache Seastrunk, LB Yawin Smallwood, LB Chaz Sutton and QB Alex Tanney to futures contracts Monday, Dec. 29. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Seastrunk is the player for fantasy owners in super super deep dynasty leagues to monitor. He's an explosive athlete who can fly by defenders. Originally a sixth-round pick by Washington in the 2014 NFL draft, Seastrunk bounced from Washington to Carolina to Tennessee in his first season as a pro.

Titans | Lache Seastrunk signs    Wed Oct 1, 10:48 AM

The Tennessee Titans signed free-agent RB Lache Seastrunk (Panthers) to the practice squad Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Footballguys view: Seastrunk is super fast in a straight line, but he's bounced around to multiple teams now in his rookie season. Deep dynasty owners thought maybe he could be something, but they may be left holding the bag -- and empty bag.

Panthers | Tauren Poole signs    Thu Sep 25, 10:54 AM

The Carolina Panthers signed free-agent RB Tauren Poole (Steelers) to the practice squad Thursday, Sept. 25. RB Lache Seastrunk was released.

Footballguys view: We've always liked Poole in super super deep dynasty leagues. He's never gotten a real shot to prove himself, but he's a natural runner with the willingness to run inside.

Packers | Lache Seastrunk worked out    Mon Sep 8, 06:50 PM

Free-agent RB Lache Seastrunk (Redskins) worked out for the Green Bay Packers Monday, Sept. 8.

Footballguys view: Seastrunk has amazing straight-line speed, and he can get to top speed in the blink of an eye. He is not a great receiver, having more drops (10) than receptions (9) during his college career at Baylor. The Packers are likely updating their emergency list here.

Redskins | Lache Seastrunk could return    Sat Aug 30, 10:19 AM

The Washington Redskins would like to sign free-agent RB Lache Seastrunk (Redskins) to their practice squad if he is not claimed off waivers. He was cut because he needs time to improve his play.

Footballguys view: Seastrunk has incredible straight-line speed, but he's not much of a receiver out of the backfield. Plus, his pass-protection leaves a lot to be desired.

Redskins | Third-down back position battle    Thu Jul 3, 05:38 PM

Washington Redskins RB Roy Helu will receive competition from RBs Chris Thompson and Lache Seastrunk for the role of third-down running back. Helu is criticized for rarely getting more than what defenses give him, and the coaching regime who selected him out of college are no longer with the organization. It is expected Helu will win the job because the other two are unproven in pass-protection situations at the NFL level.

Footballguys view: Helu started out his Washington career hot, but has since been fairly average. We're backing Seastrunk for the third-down job but as this piece points out, neither Seastrunk nor Thompson are much use pass-blocking right now. Down the road though, Helu will lose this job. Helu is the most rosterable right now, but as no more than a RB5 on a good day. Seastrunk is a later round pick in fantasy drafts, no better than an RB5 or RB6 though he has upside. Thompson has virtually no value for fantasy purposes.

Redskins | Lache Seastrunk willing to be returner    Sun May 25, 11:43 PM

Washington Redskins RB Lache Seastrunk said he has told the coaches that he would like the opportunity to return kicks this upcoming season.

Footballguys view: We just want to see Seastrunk with the ball. He is explosive and so fast that he beats angles that defenders take to tackle him. Seastrunk is a fine change-of-pace back behind Alfred Morris, but his ability as a receiver is unknown. Seastrunk had more drops (10) than he did receptions (9) in college at Baylor.

Redskins | Lache Seastrunk unlikely to be third-down back    Sun May 25, 11:43 PM

Washington Reddskins head coach Jay Gruden indicated RB Lache Seastrunk likely will not be used as a third-down back this upcoming season, because he is not sure if Seastrunk would be able to pick up blitzes or run routes out of the backfield at this point.

Footballguys view: Just like every rookie runner, Seastrunk must prove himself in pass protection before he gets on the field. If he picks those things up then watch out. He's got speed for days and the quickness to make defenders miss in small spaces.

Redskins | Two signed    Fri May 16, 08:48 AM

The Washington Redskins signed third-round pick OG Spencer Long and sixth-round pick RB Lache Seastrunk to four-year deals.

Footballguys view: Seastrunk is the player to watch here. He's simply playing at a faster speed than most everyone else on the football field. Seastrunk can make cuts without losing much speed, and he's a threat to score every time he touches the ball. He'll need to work on his receiving ability as he had more drops (10) than catches (9) in college. Seastrunk will compete to be the team's change-of-pace back behind starter Alfred Morris.

Redskins | Lache Seastrunk agrees to deal    Wed May 14, 02:40 PM

Washington Redskins RB Lache Seastrunk has agreed to a four-year, $2.33 million deal, including $110,500 signing bonus.

Footballguys view: Seastrunk is tremendously elusive and sharp in his movements, but he retreats and tries to turn every touch into a big play. His value in the passing game is minimal at this moment, but if he is focused, he could end up being one of the steals of rookie drafts and the NFL draft alike.

Redskins | Believe Lache Seastrunk can catch passes    Mon May 12, 05:54 PM

Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said the team believes RB Lache Seastrunk can be a good receiver out of the backfield even though Seastrunk only caught six passes in his last two years in college. 'We feel like he can catch the ball good enough,' Gruden said. 'We saw him at the pro days, obviously, and at the combine. He caught the ball fine and obviously Robert knows him and we did our work on him.'

Footballguys view: Seastrunk had more drops (10) than he did receptions (9) during his college career. He's incredibly fast and elusive in the open field. If he can learn how to catch, then Washington will have one dangerous weapon in the backfield to play a complementary role behind Alfred Morris.

Bills | Two draft prospects visiting    Wed Apr 2, 12:12 PM

The Buffalo Bills will be meeting with Ohio State LB Ryan Shazier and Baylor RB Lache Seastrunk Wednesday, April 2.

Footballguys view: Weighing in at 225 pounds, Shazier is a bit undersized to play inside linebacker and is best fit as a pass-rusher on the outside. He can cover, and Shazier has a nose for the football. These assets make him a late first- or early second-round pick. Seastrunk could thrive in a one-cut system where his rushing lanes (or cutback lanes) are clear. He has great speed, but lacks vision. Seastrunk is also unproven as a receiver out of the backfield, having hauled in only nine receptions during his college career. He's considered a third- or fourth-round pick.

Bills | Lache Seastrunk to visit    Fri Mar 21, 07:37 PM

Baylor RB Lache Seastrunk said he is scheduled to meet with the Buffalo Bills before the 2014 NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: Seastrunk is likely a third- or fourth-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft. He can help a team as a change-of-pace back, but lacks the vision and intent to be a full-time back.

Steelers | Will meet with Lache Seastrunk    Fri Mar 21, 07:36 PM

Baylor RB Lache Seastrunk said he is scheduled to meet with the Pittsburgh Steelers before the 2014 NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: Seastrunk is likely a third- or fourth-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft. He can help a team as a change-of-pace back, but lacks the vision and intent to be a full-time back.

NFL | Lache Seastrunk looking for fast 40 time    Wed Feb 19, 12:28 PM

Baylor RB Lache Seastrunk said he wants to run the 40-yard dash in under 4.3 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Footballguys view: Seastrunk is an explosive back, but he has little experience as a receiver. If he shows outstanding speed and quickness and reasonably good hands, he could move into the second round mix.

NFL | Lache Seastrunk headed for draft    Mon Jan 6, 10:57 PM

Baylor RB Lache Seastrunk announced he will forgo his senior season and enter the 2014 NFL Draft. According to NFLDraftScout.com's rankings, Seastrunk is ranked the No. 4 running back, and No. 62 overall prospect.

Footballguys view: Seastrunk is a dangerous runner who can make plays as a receiver out of the backfield as well. He's elusive in the open field, and he can easily make defenders miss with space. Seastrunk dances a bit too much in the backfield, and he'll have to clean that up in order to play up to his potential as a pro.
