CFL | Two headed to Winnipeg    Mon Apr 13, 10:06 AM

Free-agent RB Da'Rel Scott (Giants) and DT Nate Collins (Bears) signed undisclosed deals with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Monday, April 13.

Footballguys view: Scott was a speedy player coming out of college, but he never did much during his time with the Giants. We'll now see what he can do up in Canada.

Giants | Da'Rel Scott waived    Tue Oct 15, 04:11 PM

The New York Giants waived RB Da'Rel Scott Tuesday, Oct. 15. The team also released LB Darin Drakeford from the practice squad.

Footballguys view: It's the second time Scott has been waived by the Giants this year. They have Brandon Jacobs as the starter with both David Wilson and Andre Brown set to come back in the near future.

Giants | Da'Rel Scott expected to miss a couple weeks    Sat Oct 12, 10:46 AM

Updating a previous report, New York Giants RB Da'Rel Scott (hamstring) is expected to miss a few weeks with a hamstring strain.

Footballguys view: Scott was just re-signed by the Giants last week after getting released two weeks ago. This hamstring injury takes away the little depth they had at the running back position. At this time Brandon Jacobs and Michael Cox are the only players healthy in the RB corps.

Giants | David Wilson's career in jeopardy?    Fri Oct 11, 04:02 PM

New York Giants RB David Wilson (neck) is worried that his neck condition is season-ending, and he will receive a second opinion Monday, Oct. 14. He's feeling fine, but X-rays have shown that a vertebrae is too close to his spinal cord, a condition known as spinal stenosis.

Footballguys view: This condition could be a major problem, as it is something that has cut other careers short. 2013 has been a complete disaster for him and his fantasy owners.

Giants | Da'Rel Scott injured    Thu Oct 10, 11:39 PM

New York Giants RB Da'Rel Scott (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury in the team's Week 6 game.

Footballguys view: The hits keep coming for the Giants backfield. Brandon Jacobs turned back the clock five years last night, but the team might have to sign another back if they are still convinced that seventh-round pick Michael Cox isn't ready for game action.

Giants | David Wilson's season could be over    Thu Oct 10, 09:29 AM

Updating previous reports, New York Giants RB David Wilson (neck) could require surgery and miss the rest of the season.

Footballguys view: The hits just keep on coming for the New York Giants. Brandon jacobs will get the start Thursday night and going forward with occasional breathers by Da'Rel Scott. Jacobs is old and tapped out however and Scott is prone to fumbles. The Giants have a lot of work to do in the backfield but the way the season is going, will probably look to make any significant moves in the offseason.

Giants | David Wilson ruled out for Week 6    Tue Oct 8, 01:41 PM

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin confirmed that RB David Wilson (neck) will not play in the team's Week 6 game.

Footballguys view: Without Wilson in the lineup we'll see the team split carries between Brandon Jacobs and Da'Rel Scott. Both are only good as "what the heck" flex plays on Thursday night against the Bears.

Giants | Da'Rel Scott to return    Mon Oct 7, 06:36 PM

The New York Giants will re-sign free-agent RB Da'Rel Scott.

Footballguys view: That was an interesting move. The team released Scott last week even though he was their second-leading rusher behind David Wilson. After the team ran for only 53 yards against the Eagles it was time to bring Scott back. With Wilson (neck) banged up we could see Scott get a few carries against the Bears on Thursday night.

Giants | Waive Da'Rel Scott    Tue Oct 1, 04:14 PM

The New York Giants waived Da'Rel Scott Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Footballguys view: Scott was their second leading rusher but the team decided to move on here. It's got to be a sign that we could see them using David Wilson more going forward. Brandon Jacobs and Michael Cox are the backups now behind Wilson.

Giants | David Wilson plays 24 snaps    Mon Sep 16, 01:53 PM

Updating a previous report, New York Giants RB David Wilson ran only seven times for 17 yards in the Week 2 loss against the Denver Broncos, and he was on the field for only 24 of 79 offensive snaps. Wilson lost goal-line carries to RB Brandon Jacobs. RB Da'Rel Scott led the way with 39 snaps played. Head coach Tom Coughlin has struggled to trust Wilson in pass protection, and even Scott is seen as a better blocker in those situations.

Footballguys view: Wilson's fantasy stock is incredibly low right now after two disappointing weeks. Scoop him up for a low price in dynasty leagues right now. In re-draft leagues you're not going to start him until we see him earn the coach's trust.

Giants | Da'Rel Scott probable    Fri Sep 13, 01:44 PM

New York Giants RB Da'Rel Scott (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 13, and is probable for Week 2.

Footballguys view: Scott, David Wilson, and Brandon Jacobs will likely share the backfield in a game that will be very pass-heavy.

Giants | Da'Rel Scott fully practices    Thu Sep 12, 02:42 PM

New York Giants RB Da'Rel Scott (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

Footballguys view: While he may get some touches in relief of David Wilson )or if Wilson keeps fumbling), Scott isn't anyone you can start. He's got good straight line speed for a back his size but lacks creativity and elusiveness in the open field.

Giants | Da'Rel Scott practicing    Thu Sep 12, 12:19 PM

New York Giants RB Da'Rel Scott (knee) is participating in practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

Footballguys view: Scott had the knee injury in practice on Wednesday but is back in action. He could get a few touches behind David Wilson this week, especially if Wilson's fumbling problems continue.

Giants | Da'Rel Scott injury update    Wed Sep 11, 04:53 PM

New York Giants RB Da'Rel Scott (knee) underwent an MRI for a knee issue Wednesday, Sept. 11, that showed no structural damage.

Footballguys view: Bad timing for Scott here. He's set to get more playing time if David Wilson continues to struggle with ball security and pass protection. The team will monitor Scott's knee the rest of the week to watch for swelling.

Giants | Three limited during practice    Wed Sep 11, 02:53 PM

New York Giants RB Da'Rel Scott (knee), C David Baas (knee) and DE Damontre Moore (shoulder) were limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Footballguys view: Scott's injury is important to monitor if you play in deep dynasty leagues. He could get more carries if David Wilson continues to struggle with ball security and pass protection.

Giants | David Wilson can reclaim job    Mon Sep 9, 01:05 PM

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin hinted that RB David Wilson could regain his role as the starting running back after being benched in Week 1 following two fumbles. Wilson also struggled to pass protect in the game. 'Give us a little time to work on this thing,' Coughlin said. '(Wilson) is still very much in our thoughts. He's got to play - he's a very talented young man.'

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners should not give up on Wilson yet. In fact, buy low if the price is right. Wilson is the most talented back on the roster but needs to have better ball security if he wants to start.

Giants | Wait-and-see with RBs    Wed Sep 4, 12:09 PM

The New York Giants want to see how RB Da'Rel Scott performs as the backup to RB David Wilson in Week 1 before going out any signing any additional running backs.

Footballguys view: The Giants have patience at the position, especially because signing any veteran now would guarantee his money for the entire year. They can wait and add someone like Tim Hightower after week 1.

Giants | Da'Rel Scott does not practice    Tue Aug 13, 04:41 PM

New York Giants RB Da'Rel Scott (shoulder) did not participate in practice Tuesday, Aug. 13, with a shoulder issue.

Footballguys view: Scott is the team's RB3 behind David Wilson and Andre Brown. He's a straight line speed guy who has a little wiggle in the open field. Scott is used primarily as a return man with the Giants.

Giants | Three expected to compete for No. 3 RB job    Sun Apr 28, 04:48 PM

New York Giants RBs Da'Rel Scott, Ryan Torain and Michael Cox are expected to compete for the No. 3 running back job during offseason workouts and training camp.

Footballguys view: Torain is back, and not on a Mike Shanahan team. Scott has the speed and two years of experience in the organization under his belt, but if he was on track to be a major contributor, he wouldn't have to fight off retreads and marginal prospects to win the #3 job.

Giants | David Wilson expects to compete for starting job    Thu Mar 21, 01:28 PM

New York Giants RB David Wilson said he does not expect the starting running back job to be handed to him and is ready to compete with the other running backs on the roster for the job. RBs Andre Brown, Ryan Torain and Da'Rel Scott are also expected to compete to playing time.

Footballguys view: Wilson has the ability to be a lead RB in the NFL. He's a dangerous runner and explosive receiver out of the backfield. We expect him to be the top RB while Brown works as the complementary power/change of pace RB behind Wilson.

Giants | One listed as full participant    Mon Sep 17, 06:00 PM

New York Giants RB Da'Rel Scott (knee) would have been a full participant in practice if the team held regular practice Monday, Sept. 17.

Footballguys view: Scott's fourth on the depth chart right now behind Ahmad Bradshaw, Andre Brown, and rookie David Wilson. He's best utilized as a return man or receiver out of the backfield. Even Scott's dynasty value is very low right now.

Giants | David Wilson with first team again    Tue Aug 21, 08:15 PM

New York Giants RB David Wilson ran with the first-team offense for the second straight day Tuesday, Aug. 21. He has been impressive in camp and appears to be ahead of RBs Danny Ware, Andre Brown and Da'Rel Scott on the depth chart. RB Ahmad Bradshaw (hand) has practiced the last two days, but it's unknown if he'll play in the preseason game against the Chicago Bears Friday, Aug. 24.

Footballguys view: Wilson has the ability to be a star in this league. If Bradshaw goes down with an injury during the regular season then Wilson could put up RB2 (with upside) numbers for your fantasy team. All Bradshaw owners need to handcuff Wilson in the eighth or ninth-round.

Giants | Pecking order at RB revealed    Sat Jul 28, 01:30 AM

New York Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw is at the top of the pecking order at running back in training camp, followed by RB Danny Ware, Andre Brown, Da'Rel Scott and David Wilson.

Footballguys view: Wilson may be fifth on the depth chart right now but that won't last for long. We like Wilson's ability to be a full time starter if given the opportunity. He reminds many in the scouting community of Chiefs' RB Jamaal Charles and led the NCAA last year in yards after contact. With Bradshaw's injury history there's a good chance Wilson will get to start at some point this year.

Giants | Veteran RBs doing little to distinguish themselves    Wed Jul 25, 10:25 PM

New York Giants RBs Andre Brown, Da'Rel Scott and Danny Ware have done little to distinguish themselves in the race for the primary backup job to RB Ahmad Bradshaw. They'll have rookie RB David Wilson pushing them for the job in training camp and the preseason.

Footballguys view: Brown is trying to come all the way back from an achilles tear, Scott is a change of pace speed back, and Ware is at third-down back at best. First-round pick David Wilson shouldn't have any trouble overcoming them.

New York Giants WR Jerrel Jernigan is expected to compete with WR Domenik Hixon for punt return duties, and he might compete with RB Da'Rel Scott for kickoff return duties as well.

Footballguys view: Jernigan has a real opportunity for more touches this year. He's quick and agile in the open field and can work well as an underneath WR and return man.
