Texans | Schaub throws for 311 yards Week 9    Sun Nov 8, 05:48 PM

The Associated Press reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub was 32-for-43 for 311 yards with a touchdown pass and two interceptions Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Our view: Schaub did everything he had to to send this game to overtime, but Kris Brown missed a makeable field goal as time expired. The Texans started slow, but Schaub came on in the second half and put up very good numbers against one of the best pass defenses in the league.

Texans | Schaub throws two interceptions Week 8    Sun Nov 1, 04:29 PM

The Associated Press reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub went 25-for-34 for 268 yards and two interceptions in the team's Week 8 game.

Our view: Schaub was victimized by Jairus Byrd twice early in the game before settling down with the help of a strong rushing game. The Texans scored on three short rushing touchdowns on offense, but Schaub's passing yards were reassuring given the injury concerns with Andre Johnson this week.

Texans | Schaub says offense needs to be more consistent    Tue Oct 27, 04:58 PM

Dale Robertson, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub said the offense needs to be consistent during a game. 'We know we need to play more consistently, especially in the second half. When we get on a roll, we can be great. But there's stuff we need to clean up, penalty-wise and turnover-wise,' Schaub said.

Texans | Schaub ties career high for TDs Week 6    Sun Oct 18, 04:37 PM

The Associated Press reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub went 28-for-40 for 392 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in Week 6. The four touchdown passes tied his career high.

Our view: Schaub had plenty of time to throw and wide open receivers for most of the day and took advantage. Jacoby Jones and Steve Slaton got wide open in space for long touchdowns and Owen Daniels had a diving, one-handed catch on another.

Texans | Schaub throws for 371 yards Week 5    Sun Oct 11, 08:49 PM

The Associated Press reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub was 35-for-50 for 371 yards with two touchdowns and an interception Week 5. Schaub set team records for completions and attempts during the game.

Our view: Schaub was brilliant in the second half after a forgettable first half. An interception returned for a touchdown and goal line stand late in the fourth quarter prevented the Texans from finishing off their comeback.

Texans | Schaub throws three TD passes Week 3    Sun Sep 27, 10:48 PM

The Associated Press reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub was 26-for-35 for 300 yards with three touchdown passes and an interception Week 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Our view: Schaub continued his hot start with three more touchdowns this week. The return of Kevin Walter and continued solid effort of Jacoby Jones should keep Schaub a strong option moving forward.

Texans | Schaub throws four TD passes Week 2    Sun Sep 20, 05:43 PM

The Associated Press reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub was 25-for-39 for 357 yards with four touchdown passes during the team's Week 2 game against the Tennessee Titans.

Our view: Despite missing both Kevin Walter and Andre Davis, Schaub tore up the Tennessee pass defense in a shootout, come-from-behind win. With the Titan defense bottling up Steve Slaton, Schaub repeatedly found Andre Johnson and Owen Daniels. Schaub will continue to be a high upside play each week.

Texans | Kubiak says Schaub in 98% healthy    Sat Sep 19, 03:26 PM

HoustonTexans.com is reporting head coach Gary Kubiak said quarterback Matt Schaub's left ankle continues to improve and percentage-wise "if he's not 100, he's 98" percent healthy. "He's moving around real good this week," Kubiak said. "I don't see any limitations on him going into this game. He's obviously better than he was last week."

Our view: We're expecting more from the entire Houston offense this week against the Titans. Schaub looked uncomfortable and out of sync in his week one performance against the Jets. The passing game will get a boost if WR Kevin Walter is declared active and ready to go on Sunday.

Texans | Schaub practices Thursday    Thu Sep 17, 07:00 PM

Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub (ankle) participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 17. He will start in Week 2.

Our view: If you drafted Schaub to start, chances are he is still your best option unless you drafted Ben Roethlisberger or Trent Edwards as your backup.

Texans | Offensive leaders struggle Week 1    Sun Sep 13, 05:51 PM

The Associated Press reports the Houston Texans' offense struggled Week 1 against the New York Jets. The Texans got past midfield just once in the first three quarters and were outgained 462 yards to 183 yards. QB Matt Schaub was 18-for-33 for 166 yards passing with one interception. RB Steve Slaton managed just 17 yards rushing on nine carries while WR Andre Johnson was held to 35 receiving yards off four receptions.

Our view: Darrelle Revis blanketed Andre Johnson and Kris Jenkins anchored a stout New York Jets defensive line.

Texans | Schaub practices Thursday    Thu Sep 10, 03:57 PM

Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 10.

Our view: Schaub looks like he's good to go in week one, but may not have his full complement of weapons if WR Kevin Walter is unable to play. Even if Walter is out, Schaub should still have a top 10 fantasy week.

Texans | Schaub says ankle progressing, confident about playing    Thu Sep 10, 11:35 AM

John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub (ankle) said his ankle injury is progressing well and is very confident that he will be able to start in the team's Week 1 game.

Our view: Schaub could easily be a top 10 fantasy quarterback at the end of the season if he could only stay healthy. Rex Grossman has been named the backup quarterback, and with Schaub's injury history it's likely that we'll see Grossman in the starting lineup at some point during the season.

Texans | Schaub day-to-day, not assured of starting week 1    Wed Sep 9, 09:54 AM

The Associated Press reports that Texans QB Matt Schaub took half the snaps in practice on Tuesday, September 8, and he is listed as day-to-day. Head Gary Kubiak sounded optimistic about Schaub's chances of starting the season opener vs. the Jets, but would not commit to Schaub as the starter. "He took a big step forward [Tuesday]," Kubiak said. "He's progressing toward getting ready to go, so it's a positive move forward for him."

Our view: Hopefully, if you drafted Schaub as your #1 QB, you paired him with a low risk #2 like Matt Hasselbeck, David Garrard, or Ben Roethlisberger, because you might need them this week.

Texans | Schaub practices Tuesday    Tue Sep 8, 04:38 PM

The Houston Chronicle reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub (ankle) participated in practice Tuesday, Sept. 8, and is expected to start Week 1.

Our view: Fantasy owners have their fingers crossed when they select Matt Schaub, especially if they are relying on him as their QB1. Schaub is a fantastic quarterback that can put up monster numbers, but he has failed to stay healthy for an extended period of time during his pro career.

Texans | Schaub making progress    Thu Sep 3, 09:19 PM

Nick Scurfield, of HoustonTexans.com, reports that head coach Gary Kubiak said starting QB Matt Schaub has made a lot of progress with his injured ankle in the last 24 hours. He also said Schaub is "trying to get ready" for the season opener.

Our view: There's still ten more days for Schaub to recover. We think he'll be ready for the season opener, but just in case, you should avoid the Schaub/Matt Cassel combo in your draft if you choose to wait on your starting QB.

Texans | Schaub considered day-to-day for Week 1    Tue Sep 1, 08:52 PM

Texans | Schaub, Walter 'day-to-day', Schaub confident he will play in opener    Tue Sep 1, 07:33 PM

John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports that Texans QB Matt Schaub and WR Kevin Walter are "day-to-day" for the regular season opener vs. the Jets, according to head coach Gary Kubiak. Kubiak also said Schaub was confident he would play in the season opener. Andre Davis would replace Walter in the starting lineup if he can't go.

Our view: We wouldn't let either injury affect the place of either player on your draft board. You might even be able to get Schaub a round or two later than he has been going lately because his injury happened on national TV.

Texans | Schaub believes he will play Friday    Tue Sep 1, 09:20 AM

The Associated Press reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub (ankle) said following the team's preseason game Monday, Aug. 31, he expects to play in the preseason finale Friday, Sept. 4.

Our view: Although seeing Schaub gimpy should remind you why a player of his fantasy caliber is falling to QB10 or later in some drafts, it shouldn't keep you from making him your QB1 if you decide to be one of the last owners to take a QB. If anything, the hit his ADP took last night makes him even more attractive as a late QB1.

Texans | Schaub suffers left leg injury    Mon Aug 31, 09:21 PM

Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub suffered a left leg injury in the game vs. the Minnesota Vikings on Monday, August 31.

Our view: We know that Schaub is injury-prone, but this is ridiculous. Schaub ran for a first down and seemed to favor his left leg, then later on the drive, he came up gimpy on the same leg after making a handoff to Steve Slaton.

Texans | Schaub has another good game    Sun Aug 23, 12:02 PM

Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub had another solid preseason game Saturday, Aug. 22, against the New Orleans Saints. He hit 11-of-16 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown.

Our view: Schaub looks like a comfortable veteran in command of his offense. We still like him the best of the QBs you can take after the top eight are off the board, just make sure to take another QB in the next 2-3 rounds because Schaub has trouble staying healthy enough to play.

Texans | Schaub perfect in first preseason game    Sun Aug 16, 01:55 AM

Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub hit all seven of his passing attempts Saturday, Aug. 15, during preseason action against the Kansas City Chiefs. He threw for 70 yards, while not throwing a touchdown or interception.

Our view: Schaub is a fantasy stud... when healthy. He's still the best option if you like to wait on QB.

Texans | Schaub hits woman on the head at celebrity golf tourney    Sun Jul 19, 06:51 PM

Scott Sonner, of the Associated Press, reports that Texans QB Matt Schaub hit a woman, Sally Capehart, in the head at a celebrity golf tourney in Lake Tahoe. She is okay now, but she was clearly in pain for several minutes and went to the hospital as a precaution.

Our view: Okay, it's a slow news day around the NFL. We posted this so we would have an excuse to share this comment from a reader at the Houston Chronicle: "The good thing out of all of this was that Schaub went through all of his reads and she was open on the play."   Texans | Schaub says he will play 16 games this season    Wed Jun 17, 02:37 PM

Paul Kuharsky, of ESPN.com, reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub said he will play all 16 regular season games this season after missing five games last season because of a knee injury.

Our view: 'But I am going to be out there 16 weeks this year. I feel good. Offseason work, weight room, conditioning, I feel like it's going to happen this year, I'm going to make sure it does,' Schaub said. It's wishful thinking on Schaub's part as he's failed to stay healthy every year since he was handed the starting job in Houston. If by some chance he can stay healthy this year Schaub is a fantasy starting QB with plenty of upside.
