Rams | Bud Sasser placed on waivers    Mon Jun 8, 09:44 PM

The St. Louis Rams placed WR Bud Sasser (heart) on waivers Monday, June 11.

Footballguys view: Sasser was diagnosed with a heart condition before rookie minicamp earlier this year, and the Rams wouldn't clear him. He got a second opinion from the Mayo clinic and believes that he is fine. We'll see if another team wants to pick him up and clear him medically. Sasser was a sixth-round pick by the Rams in the 2015 NFL draft. He's got ideal size (6'3" 219 pounds) but is more of a slot receiver than outside weapon.

Rams | Bud Sasser to be released    Thu Jun 4, 01:09 PM

St. Louis Rams WR Bud Sasser will be released since he did not receive clearance to practice because of a heart condition, according to sources.

Footballguys view: It's disappointing, but as he has gone to multiple doctors for permission to play and been denied, it sounds like he should call it a day. On the more positive side, the Rams signed him to his contract and he gets to keep his $113,737 signing bonus.

Rams | Bud Sasser signs    Tue Jun 2, 06:08 PM

St. Louis Rams WR Bud Sasser signed his four-year rookie deal Tuesday, June 2. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: The Rams love big-bodies wide receivers, and that's why they snared Sasser with a sixth-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft. He's got good size, and he knows how to use his size to box out smaller defenders in the red zone. Sasser isn't going to win many races downfield, but he'll work underneath routes and consistently come up with the ball.
