Bills | Reduce roster    Fri Aug 29, 04:26 PM

The Buffalo Bills cut LB Xavius Boyd, DT Landon Cohen, TE Dominique Jones, CB Kamaal McIlwain, CB Sam Miller, P Brian Moorman, QB Jordan Palmer, FB Evan Rodriguez, WR Naaman Roosevelt and OL Jared Wheeler Friday, Aug. 29.

Footballguys view: None of these should come as a surprise. Without Palmer, the team will need to add a veteran backup. They currently only have Jeff Tuel as the primary backup behind E.J. Manuel.

Bills | Two signed, two cut    Mon Jul 21, 12:34 PM

The Buffalo Bills signed free-agent WR Naaman Roosevelt (Lions) and DT Landon Cohen (Bears) to undisclosed deals. The team released WR Ramses Barden and LB Nathan Williams.

Footballguys view: Barden's days in the NFL are likely over. He was an intriguing third-round pick by the Giants in 2009, but his size and wingspan never helped him at the pro level. Barden lacks the explosiveness and "my ball" mentality to stick around in the NFL.

Lions | Reese Wiggins claimed    Fri Jul 18, 07:05 PM

The Detroit Lions have claimed WR Reese Wiggins off waivers from the New England Patriots. The team also released WR Naaman Roosevelt.

Footballguys view: Wiggins has spent the last couple of months with the New England Patriots after he was added as an undrafted free agent out of East Carolina. During his career at ECU, Wiggins totaled 80 career catches for 1,012 yards and eight touchdowns. He's a camp body for the Lions, but he could impress enough to find a home on the practice squad.

Lions | Sign Naaman Roosevelt    Fri Apr 25, 05:11 PM

The Detroit Lions have signed WR Naaman Roosevelt (Browns) to undisclosed contract.

Footballguys view: Roosevelt is a veteran wide receiver who will give the team depth at the position. He needs to stay healthy during camp as his roster spot is not guaranteed.

Browns | Naaman Roosevelt signs    Tue Jul 23, 04:30 PM

The Cleveland Browns signed free-agent WR Naaman Roosevelt (Bills) to an undisclosed deal Tuesday, July 23.

Footballguys view: Roosevelt spent 2012 out of football and is going to fight for a roster spot near the end of the bench in Cleveland. He knows how to square his shoulders to the line of scrimmage and come back to the ball. Last year during training camp former Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick called Roosevelt "Mr. Reliable."

Bills | Could add practice squad WR to roster    Mon Sep 10, 01:23 PM

The Buffalo Bills could sign practice squad WR Marcus Easley or Naaman Roosevelt to their active roster if WR David Nelson's (knee) injury is significant.

Footballguys view: Nelson's out for the year with this knee injury so a move to add one of these Practice Squad WRs could happen later today. We like Easley's upside here more than Roosevelt's.

Bills | Four WRs cut    Fri Aug 31, 07:00 PM

The Buffalo Bills have released WRs Kamar Aiken, Derek Hagan, Ruvell Martin and Naaman Roosevelt.

Footballguys view: Hagan was considered a candidate for the team's #2 wide receiver job at one point, but he lost out to Donald Jones. Since Brad Smith, TJ Graham, and David Nelson all provide value in other ways, Hagan was doomed to be released when Jones won the job.

Buffalo Bills WRs Stevie Johnson (shoulder) and Naaman Roosevelt (shoulder) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 23, in order to rest their injured shoulders. Both are expected to play in Week 12.

Bills | David Nelson moves out of slot    Tue Oct 11, 01:47 PM

Buffalo Bills WR David Nelson moved out of the slot and to the outside to replace WR Donald Jones (ankle), who was injured in Week 5. WR Naaman Roosevelt replaced Nelson in the slot spot. Jones is expected to miss significant time.

Footballguys view: This move could negatively impact the fantasy value of Nelson moving forward. He'll see better coverage than he did as a slot receiver and could get fewer targets because of it.

The Buffalo Bills have released LS Danny Aiken, WR Kamar Aiken, QB Levi Brown, FB Jehuu Caulcrick, TE Mike Caussin, LB Antonio Coleman, CB Reggie Corner, WR Craig Davis, DE Lionel Dotson, DB Sidney Glover, C Geoff Hangartner, LB Brandon Hicks, OG Cordaro Howard, DT Michael Jasper, DE T.J. The team waived injured SS Jon Corto (undisclosed), WR Felton Huggins (concussion), LB Jammie Kirlew (undisclosed) and OT Ed Wang (shoulder). The team also placed RB Bruce Hall (undisclosed) on Injured Reserve, ending his 2011 season.

Bills | Naaman Roosevelt looks for bigger role    Sun Aug 14, 01:36 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Naaman Roosevelt worked with the second unit in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 13, against the Chicago Bears. He posted three receptions for 26 yards.

Footballguys view: Roosevelt made some noise at the end of last year, too. It's hard to write off anyone in the battle for the WR2 job in Buffalo because none of the contenders are proven pros.

Bills | Some WRs working out together    Wed Jun 22, 09:32 AM

Buffalo Bills WRs Donald Jones, David Nelson and Naaman Roosevelt have been working out together this week.

Footballguys view: The Bills have a talented, young - but unproven, group of receivers behind Lee Evans and Steve Johnson. Jones and Nelson have flashed some big play ability during their pro career while Roosevelt spent most of last year on the practice squad. He was activated at the end of the season last year and had 9 catches for 139 yards in the final three games of 2010.

Buffalo Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick worked with WRs David Nelson, Donald Jones and Naaman Roosevelt after practice last week to make sure they were all on the same page for Week 15, reports Chris Brown, of BuffaloBills.com.

Footballguys view: Fitzpatrick is showing what a good leader he is on and off the field. He may not be the Bills QB of the future, but he's certainly proven that he could play at this level for a number of years.

Colts | Austin Collie may play in Week 15    Thu Dec 16, 01:31 PM

Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell said WR Austin Collie (concussion) has looked good during practice and it looks like Collie will be able to play in Week 15, reports Phillip B. Wilson, of The Indianapolis Star.

Footballguys view: Getting Collie back will really help Peyton Manning, but it will also mean less opportunity for guys like Blair White.

Bills | Two added to active roster    Sat Nov 27, 01:56 PM

The Buffalo Bills have signed practice squad WR Naaman Roosevelt and LB Thomas Williams to their active roster, reports The Buffalo News' Mark Gaughan. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Roosevelt is a tall receiver who knows how to sky above defenders and make the tough catch. He needs to become a better route runner and get in and out of his breaks quicker.

Bills | Four players added to practice squad    Sun Sep 5, 05:19 PM

The Buffalo Bills have re-signed RB Joique Bell, RB Rodney Ferguson, WR Naaman Roosevelt and OT Jason Watkins to their practice squad, according to NationalFootballPost.com's Aaron Wilson.

Footballguys view: The two players to keep an eye on here in dynasty leagues are RB Joique Bell and WR Naaman Roosevelt. Bell racked up a ton of yards at Wayne State and proved at the Senior Bowl and during the preseason that he could hang against better competition. Roosevelt is very raw as a receiver but has a knack for making big catches.

Bills | Naaman Roosevelt thinks he has shot to make team    Tue May 11, 05:37 PM

Rodney McKissic, of the Buffalo News, reports Buffalo Bills WR Naaman Roosevelt said he believes he has a chance to make the roster out of training camp. 'I think I have a good chance,' Roosevelt said. 'You need receivers to make plays and I want to be that guy to make plays for them.'

Footballguys view: Roosevelt put up great numbers two years ago with quarterback Drew Willy. However, last season he didn't look like the same player as injuries and inconsistencies marred his season. The WR corps in Buffalo is a group of largely unproven players after Lee Evans, so if Roosevelt can regain his form (and stay healthy) he should have a chance to make the team.

Bills | Four UDFAs signed     Thu Apr 29, 04:38 PM

Chris Brown, of BuffaloBills.com, reports the Buffalo Bills have signed undrafted free-agent WR Naaman Roosevelt (Buffalo), DE Will Croner (Howard), OG Jorge Guerra (Texas A&M-Kingsville) and CB Stephan Virgil (Virginia Tech). Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Roosevelt is the player to watch out of this group. A converted high school quarterback, Roosevelt put up some great numbers his junior season for Buffalo. His senior season saw his production drop off and that's why his draft stock plummeted. He's a silky smooth runner who knows how to find the soft spots in a zone, and does a good job of coming back to the quarterback. In addition to adding depth to a thin WR corps, Roosevelt has experience as a return man.

NFL | Roosevelt works out at Pro Day    Sun Mar 7, 09:10 PM

Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports University of Buffalo WR Naaman Roosevelt measured in at his Pro Day Wednesday, March 3, with a height of 6-foot 1/8, 189 pounds. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.60 and 4.63 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.02 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.95 seconds. He measured a 36-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot-8 broad jump and completed 12 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press.

Footballguys view: Roosevelt is a name to remember, but this sleeper wide receiver will have to work on his overall game if he wants to make it in the NFL. Our very own Cecil Lammey saw Roosevelt at the Shrine Game in Orlando this year and was disappointed by what he saw. Roosevelt has strong hands, and will naturally come back to the ball but his concentration can lapse from time to time and thus his play is really inconsistent.
