Chiefs | Da'Rick Rogers cut    Tue Jun 16, 10:08 AM

Kansas City Chiefs WR Da'Rick Rogers was released Tuesday, June 16.

Footballguys view: Rogers has a ton of natural talent, but he's bounced around to three different teams in the last 22 months. The Chiefs lack WR talent behind Jeremy Maclin, so it's a telling sign of where Rogers' ability is at in the pros. Maybe some other team could take a chance on him as a developmental player.

  Chiefs | 19 signed to Reserve/Futures contracts    Tue Jan 20, 04:30 PM

The Kansas City Chiefs signed TE Brandon Barden, WR Armon Binns, LB JoJo Dickson, DT Loni Fangupo, OT Curtis Feigt, LS Brandon Hartson, OG Ricky Henry, CB Aaron Hester, LS Jorgen Hus, WR Corbin Louks, CB Deji Olatoye, QB Terrelle Pryor, OG Jarrod Pughsley, WR Da'Rick Rogers, TE Adam Schiltz, OT Derek Sherrod, FB Spencer Ware, WR Fred Williams and DT Jerel Worthy to Reserve/Futures contracts Tuesday, Jan. 20.

Footballguys view: In super super deep dynasty leagues we're still holding out hope for Da'Rick Rogers. He's an incredible talent with a fantastic size/speed combination. Keep monitoring him on a WR-starved team like the Chiefs.

Chiefs | Da'Rick Rogers signs    Thu Jan 8, 03:03 AM

The Kansas City Chiefs signed WR Da'Rick Rogers to a contract Wednesday, Jan. 7. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Ah what might have been. At least the Chiefs are adding a wide receiver with incredible natural talent. Rogers has failed to stick in the NFL, but he does have high upside. Keep an eye on him in super deep dynasty leagues.

The Indianapolis Colts have released WR Da'Rick Rogers and promoted FS Dewey McDonald to their 53-man roster Monday, Sept. 29, according to head coach Chuck Pagano.

Footballguys view: Rogers has incredible natural talent, but he lacks the refinement necessary to make it in the pros.

Colts | Two WRs have better chances to make team    Thu Jul 3, 07:12 PM

Indianapolis Colts WRs Da'Rick Rogers and Griff Whalen have a better chance to make the final roster if the team decides to keep six receivers on the final roster, because WR LaVon Brazill has been suspended for the 2014 season.

Footballguys view: Rogers has real upside and seems to have put his off the field issues behind him, though he is still blocked enough to make him no more than a high-ceiling dynasty stash for when Hakeem Nicks leaves and Reggie Wayne retires. Whalen was hot to end the season and could hold onto his slot position, which might make him an interesting stash in PPR leagues. Neither is likely to put up numbers this year though.

Colts | LaVon Brazill suspended    Thu Jul 3, 04:32 PM

Indianapolis Colts WR LaVon Brazill has been suspended for at least one year without pay by the NFL for violating the policy and program for substances of abuse.

Footballguys view: Brazill is a repeat offender, in fact just had to deal with a four-game suspension last year. He wasn't worth worrying about offensively but was solid in special teams. Keep an eye on Da'Rick Rogers as a potential replacement though Donte Moncrief may see some extra works as the team tries to maximize their rookie pick.

Colts | Three WRs may compete for one spot    Sun Jun 1, 08:57 PM

Indianapolis Colts WRs LaVon Brazill, Da'Rick Rogers and Griff Whalen may compete for one roster spot during training camp. It appears WRs Reggie Wayne, T.Y. Hilton, Hakeem Nicks and Donte Moncrief are locks to make the roster.

Footballguys view: The most talented player here is Rogers, but his game lacks a lot of polish. We could see Brazill make the team because of his speed and ball-tracking ability. We feel Whalen is the longest shot to make the roster.

Colts | T.Y. Hilton quiet in Week 14    Mon Dec 9, 06:56 PM

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton had just two catches for seven yards while playing 45 snaps in Week 14 against the Cincinnati Bengals. In the last four weeks, Hilton has just 17 catches for 135 yards. Hilton had back-to-back 100-yard receiving games following WR Reggie Wayne's (knee) injury, but since then, opposing secondaries are clamping down on Hilton and giving him more double coverages. 'I'm seeing double teams. Sometimes they roll the coverage my way. It just means guys got to step up, which they did, so we're moving in the right direction. (LaVon) Brazill, DHB (Darrius Heyward-Bey) made a big play and Da'Rick (Rogers) making plays, so as long as they continue to keep doing that, we should be fine.'

Footballguys view: Someone else needs to pick up the pace to pull coverage off Hilton. Considering Brazill and Rogers don't seem to be "there" yet and Heyward-Bey has no idea where "there" is, it could be a tough close to the season. On the plus side, Houston is up next and they aren't a tough matchup. He should have value as a shaky WR3 this week.

Colts | Da'Rick Rogers, LaVon Brazill score twice    Sun Dec 8, 10:06 PM

Indianapolis Colts WRs LaVon Brazill and Da'Rick Rogers each had two receiving touchdowns in the Week 14 loss against the Cincinnati Bengals. Rogers was making his NFL debut.

Footballguys view: Both are available on waiver wires across leagues, but they are just desperation plays against the Texans. That being said, if you haven't been happy with a shot they could fill, you could do worse. At the very least, you should pick up Rogers to keep your opponent from using him against you.

Colts | Darrius Heyward-Bey dropping on depth chart?    Thu Dec 5, 01:04 PM

Signs are pointing toward Indianapolis Colts WR Da'Rick Rogers moving ahead of WR Darrius Heyward-Bey on the team's depth chart at wide receiver. Rogers made his debut with the team in Week 13 and played in 13 offensive plays. 'We've got four guys on the 53-man roster right now at the wide receiver position and we've got to do a great job of playing to their strengths,' head coach Chuck Pagano said. 'We're going to need them all.' Heyward-Bey has been targeted 26 times in the last five games but has just nine catches for 96 yards.

Footballguys view: If he's dropping on the depth chart, it probably because he was trying to catch it! As we expected, Heyward-Bey has been too inconsistent. It's risky to start Da'Rick Rogers, but worth watching to see if he can develop chemistry with Andrew Luck both for this year and going forward.

Colts | Da'Rick Rogers to make debut    Wed Nov 27, 01:09 PM

Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said Wednesday, Nov. 27, that WR Da'Rick Rogers will make his team debut in Week 13 against the Tennessee Titans. 'He's going to get his shot,' Pagano said.

Footballguys view: Rogers is an interesting player to monitor in super deep dynasty leagues. He has an intriguing size/speed combination. Off field and maturity issues caused him to get bounced from the University of Tennessee after finishing second in the SEC in touchdowns and catches as a sophomore. He finished out his college career with Tennessee Tech and was picked up by the Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2013.

Colts | Da'Rick Rogers could have prominent role    Tue Nov 12, 03:50 PM

Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said WR Da'Rick Rogers could work himself into a prominent role in the offense for the rest of the season. 'You've got a talented football player,' Pagano said, citing Rogers' size, speed and big-play ability. 'Now we are going to give him an opportunity because he's earned it.' Rogers has apparently learned the system quickly. Rogers could push WRs Griff Whalen and LaVon Brazill for the No. 3 wideout job.

Footballguys view: Rogers has an interesting size/speed combination. Off field and maturity issues caused him to get bounced from the University of Tennessee after finishing second in the SEC in touchdowns and catches as a sophomore. Footballguys view: We could see Rogers or Williams added to the practice squad if they clear waivers. Both rookies are talented players but on the fringe in the NFL right now. Rogers has a good size/speed combination with great upside if he can develop his pro game. Williams is a speed change of pace back who can make defenders miss in the open field.

Colts | Sign WR Da'Rick Rogers    Mon Sep 2, 09:35 AM

The Indianapolis Colts signed WR Da'Rick Rogers (Bills) to the practice squad.

Footballguys view: Rogers had worked out for the Dolphins after the Bills let him go. Rogers had a breakout sophomore season at Tennessee, leading the SEC in catches and finishing second in both yards and TD catches. It's been all downhill since then. The Volunteers dismissed him prior to the 2012 season due to multiple drug violations and problems with the coaching staff. He transferred to Tennessee Tech and finished the 2012 season with 61 catches, 893 yards, and 10 touchdowns. Rogers has the natural tools to make it in the NFL but has a lot of work to do in order to get there.

Dolphins | Da'Rick Rogers worked out    Sat Aug 31, 11:05 AM

The Miami Dolphins worked out free-agent WR Da'Rick Rogers (Bills) Friday, Aug. 30.

Footballguys view: Rogers has a good size/speed combination and is an intriguing downfield target. He didn't do enough to impress the Bills after they picked him up as an undrafted free agent. Rogers had a breakout sophomore season at Tennessee, leading the SEC in catches and finishing second in both yards and TD catches. It's been all downhill since then. Former Buffalo Bills WR Da'Rick Rogers cleared waivers Wednesday, Aug. 28, and is now an unrestricted free-agent. He can be signed to the practice squad any time after 6pm ET Saturday, Aug. 31, once the 53-man rosters are set.

Footballguys view: Rogers has a ton of talent but teams are concerned about his motivation. He may get a shot with a team in the near future but it's a telling sign that nobody wanted to even claim him on waivers.

Bills | Chris Hogan moving up depth chart    Wed Aug 21, 11:28 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Chris Hogan appears to have moved up the depth chart, past WRs Marcus Easley, Brandon Kaufman and Da'Rick Rogers, to move on to the roster bubble.

Footballguys view: Interesting note here for fantasy owners in super deep dynasty leagues. Hogan is an intriguing prospect and we're seeing that UDFA Da'Rick Rogers isn't playing up to expectations. Footwork and consistency are hallmarks for Hogan, and he's standing out to the coaching staff.

Bills | Da'Rick Rogers, Brad Smith battling for fifth spot    Wed Aug 14, 09:09 PM

The Buffalo Bills might keep six wide receivers on their 53-man roster. WRs Stevie Johnson, Robert Woods, T.J. Graham and Marquise Goodwin are believed to be locks for the top four spots. That leaves WR Da'Rick Rogers battling QB/WR Brad Smith for the fifth receiver job, and WR Chris Hogan is also in the mix for that sixth spot.

Footballguys view: Rogers doesn't offer the special teams value of Smith, so he could be headed to the practice squad. He is a top-end talent, despite going undrafted, so someone might try to steal him from the Bills if they do opt to keep Smith instead. If the Bills keep Rogers, it's a good sign that they regard him as a potential future starter.

Bills | Da'Rick Rogers has progressed nicely    Wed Jul 31, 08:08 PM

Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone said Wednesday, July 31, that WR Da'Rick Rogers has take a step forward since organized team activities (OTAs). 'I think he has stepped it up from when we were in OTAs and mini-camp. I believe he's in better shape than he was before. That's a credit to him and our conditioning people and what he did in the offseason,' Marrone said. 'He's had some separation. He's a big receiver with strong hands. He's going to be competing for a roster spot.'

Footballguys view: Rogers has amazing talent, but off field concerns caused him to fall undrafted in 2013. He's on a one-strike deal with the Bills but has stayed out of trouble so far. It would be an incredible boost for their passing game if Rogers hits on his pro potential. Just based on physical ability alone there were some who graded Rogers as a second-round pick.

Bills | Two UDFAs have chance to make team    Fri Jun 14, 03:01 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Da'Rick Rogers and CB Nickell Robey made plays regularly during offseason workouts and have the chance to win a roster spot during training camp.

Footballguys view: Rogers is on a 'one-shot' deal with the team and will need to stay out of trouble if he wants to make the final roster. He's incredibly talented but fell undrafted this year due to off field concerns. Rogers is a big, physical WR with the speed to make big plays down the field.

Bills | Da'Rick Rogers catches an earful    Sat Jun 1, 12:43 PM

Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone scolded WR Da'Rick Rogers in practice Friday, June 31, after the rookie wideout taunted CB Ron Brooks after beating him on a 15-yard reception. Rogers stood above Brooks for a moment after the defender had fallen to the ground.

Footballguys view: Rogers is incredibly talented but has some maturity issues that helped cause him to slide to the ranks of the undrafted in this year's class. The team added Rogers on a 'one-shot' deal according to Marrone and he won't have much room to make mistakes as a rookie. Rogers led the SEC in catches as a sophomore at Tennessee but was dismissed prior to the 2012 season due to multiple failed drug tests and issues with coaches. He then transferred to Tennessee Tech and caught 61 passes for 893 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior.

Bills | Had high grade on Da'Rick Rogers    Tue Apr 30, 08:44 PM

Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix said Tuesday, April 30, that the team had a first-to-second round grade on WR Da'Rick Rogers, whom the team signed as an undrafted free agent. 'Being from Tennessee, I've known his background,' Nix said. 'He's from Calhoun, Georgia, I knew him when he was playing in high school. The guy's got tremendous talent. He's made some bad decisions. It's gotten him in trouble. Got him out of the University of Tennessee, from an All-SEC performance in his sophomore year, and he goes to Tennessee Tech where he has a so-so year. He played down to the level of competition, really. But this guy's talented. He can play. The ball's in his court. He goes by the rules, and does like he's supposed to, or he goes somewhere else.'

Footballguys view: Adding Rogers as a priority free agent is a huge move for the Bills. He had a breakout season as a sophomore with the Volunteers. In 2011 he led the SEC in catches and finishing second in both yards and TD catches. Multiple failed drug tests and issues with the coaches caused him to end up at Tennessee Tech. Rogers is a natural talent with elite level upside if he stays out of trouble now that he's a pro.

Bills | Da'Rick Rogers controls future    Sun Apr 28, 08:30 PM

The Buffalo Bills are taking a low-risk, high-reward chance on WR Da'Rick Rogers, who was signed as an undrafted free agent Saturday, April 27. Rogers had the physical tools to be a draft pick, but poor off-field judgment hurt his stock and raised red flags. 'It's frustrating, but I did it to myself,' Rogers said at the NFL Scouting Combine. 'And I realize how hard I have to work now that I'm behind the 8-ball. It's going to make me work that much harder.'

Footballguys view: Rogers is as good as San Diego Chargers third-round pick Keenan Allen on film. If he can make the team, he could easily push to start by the end of the year.

Bills | Two visit    Wed Apr 10, 03:20 PM

The Buffalo Bills visited with Georgia LB Alec Ogletree and Tennessee Tech WR Da'Rick Rogers Wednesday, April 10.

Footballguys view: Ogletree is an option for the Bills if he makes it into the second-round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He can fly all over the field and make plays in coverage. Rogers is a second- or third-round option. A transfer from Tennessee Rogers has big time playmaking ability and is a deep threat who can track the ball.

Tennessee WR Justin Hunter, Tennessee Tech WR Da'Rick Rogers and Virginia Tech WR Marcus Davis posted a 39 1/2-inch vertical leap Sunday, Feb. 24, at the NFL Scouting Combine to lead all players at their position.

Footballguys view: Rogers has a very similar skillset to Keenan Allen, who is projected in the first round, but missing the combine because of a knee injury. Rogers revealed that he was dismissed from Tennessee's team because of three failed drug tests, but passed 10 at Tennessee Tech. A team should take a risk on him in the second or third round.

Baylor WR Lanear Sampson and Rutgers WR Mark Harrison posted times of 4.46 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine Sunday, Feb. 23, landing them just outside the Top 10 at their position. Georgia Tavarres King and Arkansas WR Cobi Hamilton managed a time of 4.47 seconds, Lehigh WR Ryan Spadola checked in at 4.48 seconds, while WR Tyrone Goard had a time of 4.50 seconds. Washington State WR Marquess Wilson, Southern California WR Robert Woods and Florida State WR Rodney Smith had times of 4.51 seconds, while Baylor WR Terrance Williams, West Virginia WR Stedman Bailey and Tennessee Tech's Da'Rick Rogers were clocked at 4.52 seconds.

NFL | Da'Rick Rogers to enter draft    Thu Dec 13, 09:57 AM

Tennessee Tech WR Da'Rick Rogers intends to enter the 2013 NFL Draft. Rogers had 67 catches for 1,040 yards and nine touchdowns for Tennessee in 2011 to earn all-Southeastern Conference honors. He transferred to Tennessee Tech after Tennessee suspended him for positive drug tests.

Footballguys view: Rogers is one of the top WRs in this year's draft class. The 6-foot-3, 215 pounder caught 67 passes for 1,040 yards (both led the SEC) in 2011 for the Volunteers. He has a size/speed/run after the catch combination that reminds some in the scouting community of Cowboys WR Dez Bryant. Rogers natural ability could get him drafted in the first-round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
