Steelers | Roethlisberger struggles Week 10 Sun Nov 15, 05:42 PM
The Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was 20-for-40 for 174 yards with an interception Week 10 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
| Our view: The Bengals zone coverage schemes and high motor defensive line forced Roethlisberger out of rhythm all day long. Roethlisberger narrowly avoided two more interceptions and had a number of passes go off his receivers' fingers. |

Steelers | Roethlisberger had success throwing against Bailey in Week 9 Tue Nov 10, 11:18 AM
CBSSports.com reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger completed all six of his targeted passes to WR Santonio Holmes for 93 yards in Week 9, despite Denver Broncos CB Champ Bailey shadowing Holmes during the game. 'We didn't come into this game saying we have to throw away from Champ,' Roethlisberger said. 'We just have to be aware of where he's at.'

Steelers | Big Ben throws three TD passes Week 9 Tue Nov 10, 12:42 AM
The Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was 21-for-29 for 233 yards with three touchdown passes and an interception Week 9 against the Denver Broncos.
| Our view: Roethlisberger and the Steelers offense was completely held in check in the first half, but a little dose of the no huddle and better offensive line and running game play broke things open in the second half, and just about everything the Steelers did on offense worked. |

Steelers | Roethlisberger put up decent performance Week 7 Sun Oct 25, 10:24 PM
The Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger went 14-for-26 for 175 yards and one touchdown in Week 7.
| Our view: If it wasn't for a strong late first half drive that was capped with back to back long passes to Mike Wallace, Roethlisberger would have done almost nothing against the Vikings. Just when he was looking like a trustworthy everyweek start, Roethlisberger has made us reconsider whether he is truly a plug and play starting fantasy QB. |

Steelers | Roethlisberger seeks damages from accuser Fri Oct 16, 09:53 PM
Scott Sonner, of The Associated Press, reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is seeking unspecified counter damages from a woman he says falsely accused him of raping her in what his lawyer describes as a plan she hatched to seduce Roethlisberger in his casino-hotel room. The woman alleged in a civil suit in July that Roethlisberger sexually assaulter her in July 2008 after he lured her there under the false pretense of needing his television repaired. John Echeverria, Roethlisberger's lawyer, said in a response to the lawsuit filed this week that the woman made up the story.

Steelers | Big Ben throws three touchdowns Week 5 Sun Oct 11, 05:01 PM
The Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was 23-for-30 for 277 yards with a season-high three touchdown passes and an interception Week 5.
| Our view: Roethlisberger also threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown, but he was accurate and efficient in a game that was surprisingly close. |

Steelers | Big Ben throws for 333 yards Week 4 Mon Oct 5, 02:21 AM
The Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was 26-for-33 for 333 yards with two touchdowns Week 4 against the San Diego Chargers.
| Our view: Roethlisberger was flawlessly running the passing offense, both as a pocket passer, and with his patented ability to escape pressure. He's an every week starting fantasy QB at this point. |

Steelers | Big Ben throws for 276 yards Week 3 Mon Sep 28, 02:24 AM
The Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was 22-for-31 for 276 yards with a touchdown pass and an interception Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals. He also ran for a one-yard touchdown. The Steelers lost 23-20 to the Bengals, marking the first time Roethlisbeger has lost as a Steelers quarterback in Ohio. He had been 11-0 in Cleveland and Cincinnati.
| Our view: It was a good day for fantasy owners that started Ben Roethlisberger, but a bad day for Steelers fans. Once again Big Ben's touchdown pass came on a broken play where he scrambled around and found Willie Parker wide open on the sideline. It was signature Roethlisberger, and it's that type of play that makes him one of the most exciting quarterbacks in the NFL. |

Steelers | Roethlisberger solid Week 2 Sun Sep 20, 10:51 PM
The Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was 23-for-35 for 221 yards with a touchdown and an interception during the team's Week 2 game against the Chicago Bears. Roethlisberger also had a two-yard run for a touchdown.
| Our view: Roethlisberger could have had close to 300 yards if it weren't for some slips and drops by Santonio Holmes. He's looking he'll be a QB1 for the rest of the year in a Steelers offense that is becoming increasingly reliant on the pass to move the ball. |

Steelers | Tempted to use the no huddle more often Fri Sep 18, 11:00 AM
Ed Bouchette, from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, reports that Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and the rest of his offense are so comfortable in the no-huddle that most of the offense now can be used with it. "That package has tripled in size now, and it's damn near the whole offense," Arians said. "It's evolved to where he can almost use 80 percent of the playbook in it, and he's gotten very proficient at it."
| Our view: The Steelers aren't going to abandon the ground game, but it's clear that this team is very comfortable running the no huddle offense. The Steelers offensive was having trouble opening up rushing lanes for Willie Parker in week one, but looked good when the offense was pass-heavy. Fantasy owners who drafted Roethlisberger as a fantasy backup could find several weeks where he makes for a solid starting option. |

Steelers | Bettis critical of former team Fri Sep 18, 10:29 AM
Ron Cook, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports retired RB Jerome Bettis was critical of his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, in particular the running backs. 'Willie Parker: I haven't seen much from him,' Bettis wrote in a column for SI.com. 'Rashard Mendenhall: I haven't really seen him, period ...The running back I like least on that team is Frank Summers, the rookie fullback. He doesn't seem to understand what's going on. He's missing plenty of blocks.' Bettis was also critical of the offensive line. 'They have no continuity. On top of not being able to protect Ben Roethlisberger, they're letting running backs get hit before they reach the line of scrimmage ... The problem isn't anything new, and I blame the coaching staff for not addressing the line in the offseason ... Pittsburgh can't repeat with the line playing like this.'
| Our view: Bettis was asked about the comments later, and said that he didn't say anything that everybody doesn't already know. |

Steelers | Roethlisberger throws for 363 yards Week 1 Fri Sep 11, 12:30 AM
The Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was 33-for-43 for 363 yards with a touchdown pass during the team's Week 1 game.
| Our view: Roethlisberger took apart the Titans defense as long as he had time to throw, completing 12 straight passes to end the game. The strength of the Steelers offense is clearly their passing game, so Roethlisberger could end up being a huge value to those who took him in the mid to late rounds this year. |

Steelers | Roethlisberger's accuser willing to settle lawsuit Wed Sep 9, 12:25 AM
Dan Majors, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports the woman who has accused Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger of sexual assault has offered to settle a civil lawsuit against him if he admits he assaulted her. It is one of three conditions attorneys for the woman outline in a letter they submitted to a Nevada court offering to settle the matter. Roethlisberger must also deliver to the woman a letter of apology withdrawing "the false statements and allegations that he and his agents have made about her." The third condition is he must donate $100,000 to the Committee to Aid Abused Women in Reno, Nev., "or a similar entity designated by the plaintiff." The filing and the letter from the plaintiff indicate the admission and apology must be made "within five days," but do not make clear on what date that deadline will expire.
| Our view: If this lawsuit is a distraction for Roethlisberger, you can't tell it from the way he played in the preseason. |

Dan Majors, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports attorneys representing seven of the eight Harrah's Lake Tahoe employees named as defendants in the sexual-assault case involving Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger have filed a motion to dismiss the case. Roethlisberger and the eighth Harrah's defendant made a similar request nearly two weeks ago. The filing includes a point-by-point rebuttal of many of the claims made in the plaintiff's lawsuit, concluding that "it appears to be more of a screenplay than a legal pleading."

Steelers | Roethlisberger says foot is coming along Thu Aug 27, 12:30 AM
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (foot) said Wednesday, Aug. 26, that his right foot is "not 100 percent, but it's coming along." It is not know how much Roethlisberger will play in the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 29. "It's more along the lines of how you feel when you are out there. It's one of those things where you say to coach I need another one or I feel good. We'll kind of see how the flow of the game goes," added Roethlisberger.
| Our view: Two weeks should be enough for Roethlisberger to completely heal by the time the season opener vs. the Titans rolls around, but he is a QB that relies on mobility to make plays more often than he hangs in the pocket. We'll certainly be watching that right foot closely the first few times Big Ben scrambles against the Titans on September 10th. |

The attorneys notified Reno attorney Calvin Dunlap Tuesday, Aug. 25, that he has 21 days to rectify what they call factual errors in the lawsuit before they seek sanctions against him. | Our view: Steelers fans can breathe a sigh of relief here. Charlie Batch is a good backup quarterback, but it would near impossible to contend for another Super Bowl with Big Ben out of the lineup. Big Ben watched practice from the sidelines, and the initial feeling is that this ankle injury is not serious. |

| Our view: Schefter made sure to say his defense of ESPN was not because he worked for them. Rosenthal writes, "The absence of public information regarding any criminal complaint from McNulty (the accuser) doesn't guarantee such a complaint doesn't exist. Big Ben needs to stay healthy if the Steelers want to defend their title. Byron Leftwich is now in Tampa Bay, so the #2 QB in Pittsburgh is Charlie Batch.
