Packers | Rodgers solid in Week 10 Sun Nov 15, 08:13 PM
The Associated Press reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers went 25-for-36 for 189 yards and one touchdown in Week 10. He also rushed for 15 yards and one touchdown on five carries.
| Our view: Rodgers continued to struggle in the pocket at times, but spread the ball around to multiple wide receivers and remained very effective in the red zone. He showed no difficulty from the injury that limited him in practice this week. |

| Our view: Rodgers had some critically timed poor decisions and didn't convert every opportunity the Packers had when things were going their way in the first half. |

Packers | Rodgers throws three TD passes Week 8 Sun Nov 1, 08:23 PM
The Associated Press reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was 26-for-41 for 287 yards with three touchdown passes Week 8 against the Minnesota Vikings. He also ran five times for 52 yards.
| Our view: Rodgers took multiple sacks in the first half before leading a big comeback against the Vikings in the second half. Rodgers found his receivers in open space as Minnesota sat back in a Cover-2 and got out of the pocket to give his receivers more time to get open while the Vikings blitzed. |

Packers | Rodgers throws for 358 yards Week 6 Sun Oct 18, 05:03 PM
The Associated Press reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers went 29-for-37 for 358 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Week 6.
| Our view: Rodgers abused a Detroit secondary that continues to struggle. Five sacks and the loss of LT Chad Clifton again with a re-aggravation of his ankle injury are a definite cause for concern for the Packers' pass offense, however. |

Packers | Rodgers does not want to call out OL Thu Oct 15, 10:26 AM
The Associated Press reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said he does not want to publicly call out his offensive line because he trusts the line and calling them out would not do any good. 'I trust those guys. I love those guys. They take care of me, I take care of them. That's the way it goes. We have a tight-knit relationship. Nothing gets done when you do something like that publicly,' Rodgers said.
| Our view: It's cool that Rodgers won't throw his offensive line under the bus, but the lack of protection is clearly effecting his play. Rodgers now is worried about the rush, even when teams only rush 3 or 4 linemen. The Packers signed veteran OT Mark Tauscher in hopes of upgrading their offensive line, but it could be a couple of weeks before he's back up to speed. |

Packers | Rogers has been taking a beating all season Tue Oct 6, 10:28 AM
The Associated Press reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has been sacked 20 times this season.
| Our view: The Packers offensive line obviously is not getting the job done, but Rodgers is also holding on to the ball too long. Green Bay has tried everything - from running max protect, to only keeping five players in to block - and nothing has consistently worked. Now that Rodgers has been beat like a pinata he's feeling the rush even when it's not there. This makes his reads hurried, and gives him happy feet inside the pocket. The Packers need to figure out a way to make Rodgers comfortable once again if they want to get the most out of the their quarterback. |

Packers | Rodgers throws for 384 yards Week 4 Tue Oct 6, 01:11 AM
The Associated Press reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was 26-for-37 for 384 yards with two touchdown passes and an interception during the team's Week 4 game. Rodgers was sacked eight times in the game.
| Our view: Rodgers hooked up with Jermichael Finley on a couple of long receptions, but most of his yardage came as he was chipping away and trying to get the Packers back into the game in the second half. |

Packers | Rodgers throws two TD passes Week 3 Sun Sep 27, 06:22 PM
The Associated Press reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was 13-for-23 for 269 yards with two touchdown passes Week 3 against the St. Louis Rams. He also ran four yards for a touchdown during the game.
| Our view: Rodgers was pressured early, but settled down to take advantage of a St. Louis secondary that let multiple receivers behind them. The Packer OL will need to keep it together against the Vikings' front seven next week. |

Packers | Rodgers would like more passing options Thu Sep 24, 10:13 AM
Rob Demovsky, of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said he would like more options in the passing game and would like some of the eligible receivers to not have to stay into block so he could have check down options. 'I think one of the things that happened last week was because of struggles (in protection) in Week 1, we've kept more guys in (to block),' Rodgers said. 'Our backs were staying in a little bit longer, and so our stuff was all down the field because we didn't have any of our check downs out. The push, hopefully, this is week is, 'Hey you guys got to hold up up front.' We need more options underneath the coverage. When they're dropping off so far, you need some check downs.'
| Our view: We knew Rodgers was tough, but asking your front five to fend for themselves is just asking to get beat like a pinata. Rodgers was sacked 6 times, and knocked down 10 times against the Bengals even though the Packers were using six and seven man protection schemes. Overall, Rodgers has been sacked 10 times and knocked down 19 times in the first two games, but feels he needs to become a more accurate passer deep, despite the pressure. The Packers receivers have been letting Rodgers down as well, with nine drops in two games. |

Packers | Rodgers throws touchdown pass Week 2 Sun Sep 20, 07:22 PM
The Associated Press reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was 21-for-39 for 261 yards with a touchdown pass during the team's Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
| Our view: Rodgers was sacked six times and victimized by a number of dropped passes, but still turned in a productive day. Green Bay will have to hope that their offensive line woes can be overcome or Rodgers may have trouble putting together long drives and getting time to hit the downfield throws he often does. |

Packer OL Chad Clifton carted off with injury Sun Sep 20, 03:11 PM

Packers | Rodgers confident in offensive line Thu Sep 17, 10:03 AM
Tom Silverstein, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said he is confident in the team's offensive line despite taking several hard hits in Week 1. 'I have a lot of trust in those guys. I think the feeling with those guys is they don't want me to get hit anymore. At least that's what they told me. I have a lot of faith in those guys,' Rodgers said.
| Our view: The Packers should get right tackle Allen Barbre some help because he was simply abused on Sunday night by Adewale Ogunleye. Expect the team to try and chip any rushers with a tight end, so Aaron Rodgers can stay upright in their matchup against the Bengals. |

Packers | Rodgers late TD pass wins it Week 1 Mon Sep 14, 12:41 AM
The Associated Press reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was 17-for-28 for 184 yards with a touchdown pass during the team's Week 1 game. Rodgers threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to WR Greg Jennings with 1:11 left in the game to help give the Packers a 21-15 win over the Chicago Bears.
| Our view: Rodgers was having a very average day up until that point. His final numbers still weren't what fantasy owners were expecting, but in the end the Packers get the win and that's all that matters. Rodgers owners shouldn't be disgruntled, because there will be plenty of weeks where he finished as a top 5 fantasy quarterback. |

Pete Dougherty, of The Green Bay Press-Gazette, reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is expected to play only one series in the team's final preseason game Thursday, Sept. 3.

The Associated Press reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was 14-for-19 for 258 yards with three touchdown passes during the team's preseason game Friday, Aug. 28, against the Arizona Cardinals.
| Our view: Rodgers has been in midseason form from the beginning of the preseason. If this carries over to the regular season, Rodgers will crash the elite top three QB of Brady, Brees, and Peyton, and make it a top four. |

Packers | Rodgers throws two touchdowns Saturday Sat Aug 22, 09:28 PM
Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers completed eight of his nine passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns in the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 22.
| Our view: What an extremely efficient night for the Packers' quarterback. Rodgers was reading the defense well, and hit his top two targets (Donald Driver and Greg Jennings) for touchdowns. The Packers are looking for Aaron Rodgers to improve his game in the red zone, and tonight he showed that he is well on his way. |

Packers | Looking for Rodgers to improve Sun Jul 26, 12:00 PM
Bob McGinn, of The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin said the team expects QB Aaron Rodgers to play better during his sophomore year as a starter. 'He's got to play better. No doubt about it,' Philbin said.
| Our view: Philbin said the Packers were kind of paper champions in a lot of regards offensively last year. He noted they stunk on opening drives, and did not play well during the two-minute drill. Rodgers was 6-10 as a starting quarterback, and the Packers are looking for him to really the troops this season. Philbin said the team also needs to do a better job coaching. |

Packers | Rodgers talks about facing Favre Thu Jul 16, 04:26 PM
Gregg Rosenthal, from ProFootballTalk.com, reports Rodgers showed up to the ESPY's Wednesday likely looking forward to an exciting evening filled watching people win awards they could care less about winning. Once he got to the "red carpet," Rodgers was peppered exclusively with Favre questions. To his credit, he answered every one with a smile. On the inevitable Favre vs. Rodgers storylines: "I know that will be the big story. You guys have a job to do. That probably sells a few more papers than the usual matchup. We'll try to stay focused that week if that does happen."
| Our view: Aaron Rodgers knows that even when Brett Favre retires he will still have to field questions about the "wrangler tough" gunslinger. It shows great character that Rodgers is able to field these repetitive questions calmly without going Ryan Leaf on a reporter. |

NFL | Teams slow to re-sign 2005 draft picks Wed Jul 8, 09:29 AM
Jason Cole, of Yahoo! Sports, reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, Philadelphia Eagles DL Mike Patterson and San Diego Chargers DL Luis A. Castillo are the only three 2005 first-round draft picks who have signed contract extensions with their initial franchises so far. NFL teams appear to have been slow in signing players from the 2005 draft class due to the potential of an uncapped season in 2010.
| Our view: Under the CBA rules of an uncapped year, players can't become unrestricted free agents until after their sixth season. Subsequently, players from the 2005 class will only have five years of service accrued and would not be unrestricted free agents next offseason. Unless they work out renegotiated deals between now and then, they would become restricted free agents following the 2009 campaign, meaning their current clubs have the ability to match an offer sheet from a competing team to retain their services. |

Packers | Ask Rodgers to work on some things Wed Jun 24, 12:03 PM
Rob Demovsky, of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, reports Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Tom Clements had a list of roughly 10 things for QB Aaron Rodgers to work on this offseason. 'The first day we met, I said 'here's a list of about 10 things,' Clements said. 'Some more important than others, some just very technical things, and then we continued to work on those as the offseason progressed.' Perhaps most important was footwork. Head coach Mike McCarthy believes footwork is critical in the West Coast passing game because so much of the system is predicated on timing.
| Our view: It's scary to think Rodgers has so much room to improve after his terrific performance in his first year as a starter. Don't let him fall past QB5 in your draft. |

Packers | Rodgers looking to shed a few pounds Wed Jun 24, 01:01 AM
Lori Nickel, of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers plans to work out at his home in San Diego when the team's minicamp concludes. He is listed at 220 pounds, but head coach Mike McCarthy has been on Rodgers to maintain a certain weight. It appears Rodgers is up a little, as he said he would like to shed a few pounds in the coming weeks.
| Our view: Between getting the reins taken off when it comes to calling audibles and running the offense and Rodgers leadership and work ethic, he appears to be ready to take his place among the elite NFL QBs this year. |

Packers | Rodgers to have more control of the offense Sun Jun 21, 01:24 PM
Greg A. Bedard, of The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers had limitations on his audibles last season, but it appears he is going to have more options at his disposal this season.
| Our view: Rodgers believes he is going to be given more responsibility at the line of scrimmage this season because the coaching staff trusts him more. There were times he played like a system quarterback last year, but his teammates told him to let loose a bit. The ability to audible at the line of scrimmage should only make Rodgers a more dangerous QB. |

Packers | Rodgers focused Sun Jun 21, 01:19 PM
Greg A. Bedard, of The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers doesn't appear to be having any jitters entering his second year as the Packers starting quarterback.
| Our view: He said he isn't paying attention to the hype of the Chicago Bears adding QB Jay Cutler or the Minnesota Vikings potentially adding former Packers QB Brett Favre. 'I'm so focused on what I'm doing, what our team is doing,' Rodgers said. There's a good chance that Rodgers will have to face off against Favre a couple of times this year, so it will be interesting to see how he responds to the pressure of playing against the man he replaced last year. |

Packers | Rodgers working hard and looking good Fri May 29, 01:37 PM
The Green Bay Press Gazette reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is working hard to improve his game and hopes it leads to more wins in 2009.
| Our view: He realizes that despite his eye-popping statistics as a first-year starter, it all comes down to wins and losses. Rodgers places a high priority on teamwork, so he spent time this offseason hanging out with teammates. He also plans to invite players over for catered dinners, which is a practice he started a year ago. During the first two OTA practices, Rodgers has looked sharp. He is throwing the deep ball very well and hooked up with WR Greg Jennings on some impressive completions Thursday, May 28. |
