Jaguars | Jacksonville open to Calvin Ridley return    Thu Jan 25, 02:09 PM

Impending free-agent WR Calvin Ridley 'did some awfully good things' in his first season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but general manager Trent Baalke stopped short of guaranteeing Ridley would remain with the team in 2024 - although Baalke suggested the team will 'work toward' it - on Thursday, Jan. 25.'When you bring in somebody in that hasn't been a part of football for over a year and a half, you (need to) knock the rust off. He did that and, at times, he showed who he was and what he used to and what he can be. The sky's the limit. He's only going to get better because of the way he works. When you love something as much as he loves football, you can't help but get better. We would love to have Calvin back. We are going to work toward that. What that means is, I don't know right now,' Baalke said.

Footballguys view: Ridley could command a price tag the Jaguars are not comfortable with. It was a good connection, albeit inconsistent, in Jacksonville between Ridley and QB Trevor Lawrence.

Jaguars | Calvin Ridley surpasses 100-yard mark    Sun Jan 7, 04:58 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley caught six passes for 106 yards and one touchdown against the Tennessee Titans in Week 18. He was targeted 10 times during the game.

Footballguys view: Ridley will go into free agency coming off of an up and down season that ended up over 1000 yards. Supply and demand dictates a likely big payday for the 29-year-old, and one that the Jaguars may not be willing to pony up. If they don't, they will owe Atlanta their third-round pick, if they do sign Ridley, it will become a second-round pick.

Jaguars | Four receptions for Calvin Ridley    Sun Dec 31, 07:03 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley ended up with four receptions for 39 yards on eight targets in Week 17 against the Carolina Panthers.

Footballguys view: Ridley's up and down predictably ended up down with Trevor Lawrence sitting in Week 17. He has helped the Jaguars offense and fantasy teams sporadically, but this still looks like a good trade for Jacksonville even if Ridley wasn't a great third round pick for fantasy teams.

Jaguars | Calvin Ridley targeted 13 times    Sun Dec 10, 05:12 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley was targeted 13 times in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns, but he ended up with just four receptions for 53 yards.

Footballguys view: This wasn't a bad performance considering the fact that Ridley's quarterback was not 100%. He'll be a boom/bust WR3/Flex next week worth considering against a Ravens defense that gave up good games to Puca Nacua and Cooper Kupp today.

Jaguars | Calvin Ridley produces solid stat line    Sun Nov 26, 05:39 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley registered five receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown on six targets in Week 12 against the Houston Texans.

Footballguys view: Ridley had his second good week in a row for the first time all season, and he has had good weeks in all three games that Zay Jones has been healthy for. He should be in lineups against the Bengals next week and is coming on at the right time.

Jaguars | Two touchdowns for Calvin Ridley    Sun Nov 19, 04:27 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley caught seven passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns against the Tennessee Titans in Week 11. He also rushed for 18 yards on one carry during the game.

Footballguys view: Ridley had his biggest game since Week 1, which happen to coincide with Zay Jones first full game since Week 1. Ridley is still a boom/bust WR3/Flex, but you should err on the side of playing him at Houston next week.

Jaguars | Calvin Ridley limited to two catches    Sun Nov 12, 04:54 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley caught two passes for 20 yards against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 10. He was targeted three times during the game.

Footballguys view: Ridley's outlook was cloudy against a good defense with a strong #1 corner, and everything went worse for the Jaguars offense than expected. Still, Ridley is worth a WR3/Flex play next week against Tennessee.

Jaguars | Calvin Ridley makes six receptions    Sun Oct 29, 07:41 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley ended up with six catches and 83 yards on 10 targets in Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Footballguys view: Ridley had a bounceback week against a Steelers secondary that can be generous when the pass rush isn't getting home. On Thursday, the Steelers will try to corral a red hot DeAndre Hopkins while Ridley and his teammates get to rest during a bye week.

Jaguars | Calvin Ridley musters just one catch    Fri Oct 20, 01:00 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley had one reception (on four targets) for five yards versus the New Orleans Saints in Week 7.

Footballguys view: Ridley was not used much in the matchup with Marshon Lattimore because the Jaguars didn't need to take chances in the passing game nursing a big lead for most of the game that evaporated in the fourth quarter. Ridley is a boom/bust WR3/Flex after being drafted as a WR1, but he can still put up WR1 numbers next week against an inconsistent Steelers pass defense.

Jaguars | Calvin Ridley held to 30 yards    Sun Oct 15, 06:28 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley caught four passes for 30 yards against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6. He was targeted eight times during the game.

Footballguys view: Ridley didn't reproduce his big Week 1 output against this same Colts defense, but that was more because the game wasn't close and the Jaguars didn't really have to throw downfield. Ridley could draw Marshon Lattimore on Thursday, but Nico Collins had a solid game against the Saints secondary today. It has been a rollercoaster ride, leaving Ridley as a boom/bust WR3/Flex option.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley caught seven passes for 122 yards against the Buffalo Bills in Week 5. He also rushed for 14 yards on two carries during the game.

Footballguys view: Ridley had a strong game after AJ Terrell shut him down in London last week. The team trusted him on a late deep shot that helped decide the game. The Colts, next week's opponent, don't have anyone who can cover him, as his big game in Week 1 illustrated.

Jaguars | Calvin Ridley reaches end zone    Sun Oct 1, 12:30 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley caught two passes for 38 yards and one touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4. He was targeted two times during the game.

Footballguys view: Ridley caught a touchdown on a great improv play by Trevor Lawrence into tight coverage and he also drew a long pass interference penalty, but he was very close to being a bust today in a tough matchup. AJ Terrell will match up with Nico Collins next week when Houston comes to Atlanta and Ridley should be more productive against the Bills next week.

Jaguars | Calvin Ridley held in check    Sun Sep 24, 06:29 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley caught three passes for 40 yards against the Houston Texans in Week 3. He was targeted seven times during the game.

Footballguys view: Ridley was huge in Week 1, quiet in Week 2, and expected to be excellent against a Texans secondary missing one of their best corners. Instead, he was a disappointment along with the rest of the Jaguars passing game. He'll face his old team next week and projects as a boom/bust WR2 against Atlanta.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley caught eight passes for 101 yards and one touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1. He was targeted 11 times during the game.

Footballguys view: Ridley is the clear #1 receiver and he could make it tough to rely on Christian Kirk if this trend continues. He was open all day against the Colts secondary and has a chance to be worth a lot more than the third round pick it took to land him in drafts.

Jaguars | Calvin Ridley applying for reinstatement    Wed Feb 15, 01:30 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley is expected to apply for reinstatement from suspension on Wednesday, Feb. 15, per source.

Footballguys view: Ridley was suspended for the 2022 season for gambling on NFL games. He fell out of favor with the Falcons, with injuries and inconsistencies plaguing his game. However, Ridley is a talented receiver who could bounce back in a big way on an up-and-coming Jaguars offense.

Jaguars | Coach expects Calvin Ridley to be reinstated    Mon Jan 23, 10:40 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley is eligible to apply for reinstatement Wednesday, Feb. 15, and head coach Doug Pederson said the team strongly believes he will be reinstated.

Footballguys view: That's a reason why the Jaguars made the savvy move for Ridley. Last November, the Jaguars acquired Ridley from the Falcons for two future conditional draft selections. He'll join a roster of weapons in the wide receivers room, and Ridley gives QB Trevor Lawrence another big-play option to throw to.

Jaguars | Calvin Ridley trade details    Tue Nov 1, 05:17 PM

Updating a previous report, the Jacksonville Jaguars acquired WR Calvin Ridley from the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for a conditional 2023 sixth-round pick and a conditional 2024 fourth-round pick Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Footballguys view: The pick in 2023 turns into a fifth-rounder if Ridley is reinstated past an undisclosed date. The conditions of the 2024 fourth-round pick turn the selection into a third-round pick if undisclosed play-time milestones are met, or it turns into a second-round pick if the Jaguars sign Ridley to a contract extension.

Jaguars | Jacksonville closing in on acquiring Calvin Ridley    Tue Nov 1, 03:02 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Calvin Ridley, who is currently serving an indefinite suspension for gambling, is reportedly on the verge of getting traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Footballguys view: According to sources via ESPN's Adam Schefter, the two teams are in the process of trying to finalize the trade before the league's deadline. The compensation going back to the Falcons is reportedly for a conditional 2023 fifth-round pick and a conditional 2024 fourth-round pick. This is a good move for the Jaguars, but they'll have to wait for Ridley to be reinstated before he can help QB Trevor Lawrence and the passing game in 2023.

Falcons | Calvin Ridley wagered more than reported?    Sat Mar 12, 05:14 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Calvin Ridley reportedly wagered more than the $1,500 he acknowledged on social media, instead gambling $3,900 over six bets placed on the Falcons, according to SportsHandle.com's Brett Smiley. He lost each one. The suspended receiver bet $100 twice on teams other than Atlanta, winning both for a total of $654. He made 33 additional wagers for a total of more than $32,000, profiting $2,744. Ridley's net loss across all bets placed was $1,186. Updating an ongoing story, Atlanta Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot said there's no update about the status of WR Calvin Ridley, while speaking to the media at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine on Tuesday, March 1.

Footballguys view: If Ridley does play in 2022, he's most likely not going to do that in Atlanta. He missed most of the 2021 season away from the team for mental health reasons. Entering the final year of his contract (on a fifth-year option), Ridley needs to decide if he wants to keep playing football - and then he'll be able to figure out where that may happen.

Falcons | Owner wants Calvin Ridley to stay with ATL    Wed Feb 9, 06:09 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Calvin Ridley is a player owner Arthur Blank would like to keep on the roster, but Blank said Ridley may want a fresh start with a new team. 'He has had a great history in Atlanta. We'd love him to stay in Atlanta. Whether or not he wants to do that -- he may decide that he wants a fresh start someplace else. We don't know that. I don't know that. I don't have information to indicate that, but we'll see how that plays out,' Blank said.

Footballguys view: Ridley has a cap hit of $11 million in 2022 with $11 million remaining in dead money. He's a young receiver at 27-years old, and there's still plenty of potential there with him. A fresh start could be what he needs as Ridley took time off in 2021 for mental health reasons.

Atlanta Falcons WR Calvin Ridley and the organization mutually could look to work out a trade, in the opinions of NFL Network's Steve Wyche and Mike Garafolo.

Footballguys view: Ridley stepped away from the game for personal reasons in October and hasn't been in contact with the Falcons in months. If he wants to keep playing, then perhaps a fresh start is best. Any team that trades for Ridley would have to extend him because the 2018 first-round pick is set to play on the fifth-year option in 2022.
