Personnel director Trent Baalke said Friday, Dec. 3, that Nedney will have a medical exam Monday, Dec. 6, and said it 'doesn't look good' in discussing Nedney's chances of returning this season. PK Jeff Reed (Steelers) was signed earlier this week to fill in for Week 13 against the Green Bay Packers.

Footballguys view: Reed simply missed too many field goals this year. The Steelers were willing to tolerate his off field behavior when he was making kicks, but in the end decided to go in a different direction. Now he can go to another city and beat up empty paper towel dispensers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are considering cutting PK Jeff Reed after he missed his seventh field goal of the year in Week 10, according to ESPN.com. The team plans to bring in kickers to work out Tuesday, Nov. 16. 'I'm not one to make excuses,' Reed said. 'I'll take the credit for the miss. It was a great snap, a great hold, great protection. It's kind of hard when you plant your foot and the hole - a piece of ground moves where the ball's under the holder. I almost missed the ball completely.'

Updating previous reports, Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers director of football operations Kevin Colbert said impending free-agent PK Jeff Reed, DT Casey Hampton and FS Ryan Clark are considered priorities to bring back. Colbert said the team will not start negotiations with them for at least another week.

Footballguys view: Colbert said the team could use the franchise or transition tag on them in order to keep them. With an uncapped year likely in 2010, NFL teams will get two transition tags, and one franchise tag. All three of these players are very important to what the Steelers want to do in the upcoming season.

ESPN.com reports the agent for Pittsburgh Steelers PK Jeff Reed, Don Henderson, denied his client tried to fight with police outside a bar Sunday, Oct. 18. Police say Reed took a 'fighting stance' when officers arrived to cite TE Matt Spaeth for allegedly urinating in public, and became unruly when police tried to restrain him. 'We're contesting it,' Henderson told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. 'It involved somebody else on the team, he got out to try to help and basically got attacked by the police. He was with his parents. He got out and tried to help and evidently they didn't want to hear that ... It was somebody else trying to do something and Jeff ended up getting slammed in the middle.'
