Falcons | Chris Redman cut Tue Aug 28, 04:35 PM
The Atlanta Falcons released QB Chris Redman Tuesday, Aug. 28. QB Dominique Davis has impressed and may enter the season as QB Matt Ryan's backup.
Footballguys view: Our very own Cecil Lammey watched Davis from the sidelines during the week of practice for the Players All Star Classic in Little Rock, AR earlier this year and came away impressed. Davis has good arm strength and is an elite athlete who can scramble for yards when the play breaks down. Davis is now QB2 behind Matt Ryan, just like he was early in his college career when the two played together at Boston College. Davis later transferred to East Carolina. |

Falcons | Dominique Davis, John Parker Wilson battling for job Mon Jun 18, 11:11 PM
Atlanta Falcons QBs Dominique Davis and John Parker Wilson are expected to compete for the third quarterback job behind starter QB Matt Ryan and backup QB Chris Redman.
Footballguys view: We like Wilson in this competition. Davis is a more athletic QB but struggles with throwing on the run and isn't that accurate. Wilson is maxed out as a third-string guy and his dynasty value is zero. |

Broncos | Could show interest in several free-agent QBs Sat Feb 4, 11:16 AM
The Denver Broncos could show interest in Atlanta Falcons impending free-agent QB Chris Redman, Detroit Lions impending free-agent QB Shaun Hill, Miami Dolphins impending free-agent QB Chad Henne, Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent QB Vince Young, New York Giants impending free-agent QB David Carr, New York Jets impending free-agent QB Kevin O'Connell and Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Josh X. Johnson this offseason.
Footballguys view: The Broncos would like to add a free agent veteran to push Tim Tebow in camp. Tebow will enter training camp as the starter but needs to show improvement as a passer if he wants to hold onto the job. |

Falcons | Chris Redman hopes to return Sun Jan 29, 12:30 AM
Free-agent QB Chris Redman (Falcons) wants to return to the Atlanta Falcons, and the team will likely work out a reasonable deal for his services to serve as the backup to starting QB Matt Ryan.
Footballguys view: Redman has been a very good backup for Ryan since being signed as a street free agent, so it just makes sense for the team to retain him. |

Updating a previous item, D. Orlando Ledbetter, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons P Michael Koenen (concussion) suffered a concussion Week 16. PK Matt Bryant (hamstring) filled in at punter while Koenen was injured, but Bryant pulled a hamstring and was forced to leave the game. QB Chris Redman would have been the punter after Bryant was hurt, but the team went for a couple of fourth-down calls in the second half so that Redman wouldn't have to punt.

Falcons | Redman and Shockley entering final year of contract Sat May 9, 03:54 PM
D. Orlando Ledbetter, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons backup QBs Chris Redman and D.J. Shockley are entering the final year of their contract with the Falcons.
Footballguys view: John Parker Wilson is listed as 4th on the depth chart as of right now. He needs a ton of time to develop just holding the clipboard and there are questions as to whether or not he could become a capable backup QB. We can't imagine Redman or Shockley getting much attention in the free agent market so the Falcons could re-sign one or both if they like what they see in 2009. |
