Redskins | Washington could add running back    Sun Jan 31, 02:11 PM

Washington Redskins RB Alfred Morris may not return next season, as previously reported, which could lead the Redskins to draft a running back or sign a free-agent running back, according to CSNWashington.com's Rich Tandler. Tandler said depth is needed at the position and that RBs Chris Thompson and Silas Redd are both coming off injuries and aren't workhorse backs.

Footballguys view: The math here is pretty simple...especially if Morris doesn't return. Matt Jones may not be ready to take on a full workload in 2016. Chris Thompson is exciting to watch as a change-of-pace back, but he struggles to stay healthy and can't carry a large workload. If Morris moves on in free agency, then Washington will look to a rich free agent and draft class for more help at the position.

Redskins | Two players out for the year    Sat Aug 15, 03:51 PM

Washington Redskins TE Logan Paulsen (toe) and RB Silas Redd (knee) are out for the season. Paulsen will have surgery on his turf toe and Redd tore his medial collateral ligament and anterior cruciate ligament.

Footballguys view: Washington has lost two of their top three tight ends. This can't be good for an offense that is already among the worst at the quarterback position unless Robert Griffin III pulls off a stunning turnaround.

Redskins | Silas Redd could have serious injury    Fri Aug 14, 12:13 PM

Washington Redskins RB Silas Redd (knee) could have tears to the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his knee, according to head coach Jay Gruden. Redd has been competing for the third running back spot behind RBs Alfred Morris and Matt Jones. Redd will undergo an MRI exam Friday, Aug. 14.

Footballguys view: Chris Thompson should make the team on this news. He and Matt Jones will battle for the third down back role for the next month.

Redskins | Washington looking at Pierre Thomas    Thu Apr 2, 01:09 PM

Free-agent RB Pierre Thomas (Saints) has drawn some interest from the Washington Redskins as they look to give competition to RBs Chris Thompson and Silas Redd for the third-down role, according to a source. However, Washington will likely see what's available in the draft before proceeding with Thomas. Among the options the Redskins could look at in the draft are Nebraska RB Ameer Abdullah, Northern Iowa RB David Johnson, Miami (Fla.) RB Duke Johnson, South Carolina RB Mike Davis and Alabama RB T.J. Yeldon.

Footballguys view: Thomas is likely to have to wait until someone gets hurt before getting on a team, though franchises like Washington may pull the trigger earlier if they don't like what they see in the draft or OTAs. Thomas hasn't been a very good fantasy player over the last year or so and a third-down role for Washington shouldn't change that. If he gets it, he wouldn't be high on our list of players we want on our fantasy roster.
