Free-agent FS Glover Quin (Lions) announced his retirement Tuesday, July 9.
| Footballguys view: No surprise here. Quin was released by the Lions back in February and has been contemplating retirement ever since. A fourth-round pick of the Texans in the 2009 NFL draft, Quin had his best seasons with the Lions including a Pro Bowl selection for his 2014 performance. In 10 years, Quin played 159 games, compiled 579 tackles, 4.0 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, 24 interceptions and 87 passes defensed. |

Detroit Lions S Glover Quin restructured his contract Wednesday, May 13, to create $2.17 million of salary cap space. His $4 million base salary was slashed to $745,000 for 2015.
| Footballguys view: Quin has emerged as one of the top safeties in the league during his two seasons with the Lions. He's got 10 interceptions over that period and is a valuable asset for their defense. This move gives the Lions some much-needed breathing room on the salary cap. They are paying out more than $17 million in dead money this season and have a total cap number over $151 million according to OverTheCap.com. |

OT Riley Reiff (knee) is questionable, while S James Ihedigbo (knee), LB Ashlee Palmer (concussion), DE Ziggy Ansah (elbow), DE George Johnson (foot), CB Rashean Mathis (ankle) and S Glover Quin (back) are probable. Fairley and Warford didn't practice Wednesday, Nov. 26. Reiff and Palmer were limited, while the others practiced in full.
