Broncos | Matt Prater being released    Fri Oct 3, 01:47 PM

Denver Broncos PK Matt Prater is being released before he comes off his four-game suspension, according to a source.

Footballguys view: The Broncos making an interesting statement here. There's about $2.3 million in dead money remaining on his contract. PK Brandon McManus has won the team's kicking job, and now Prater will have to look for a job elsewhere. He was almost suspended a full year for another alcohol violation, but his lawyer got the suspension reduced to 'only' four games.

Broncos | Matt Prater unlikely to appeal    Sun Aug 24, 12:03 PM

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos PK Matt Prater likely will not appeal his four-game suspension, because his attorney and the NFL agreed to the length. Prater was initially facing a one-year suspension.

Footballguys view: Losing Prater means rookie kicker Mitch Ewald will be the top guy for the Broncos. The Broncos have a bye in Week 4, so Prater can come back right before their Week 6 game against the Jets.

Denver Broncos WR Cody Latimer (foot), TE Joel Dreessen (knee), DT Kevin Vickerson (hip) and PK Matt Prater (illness) are not participating in organized team activities Wednesday, May 28.

Footballguys view: Latimer is the player to watch here for fantasy owners. He's got a nice size/speed combination and can be a dominant target in the red zone. We'll see Latimer develop as the fourth-string receiver this year, but he could be starting in 2015 opposite Demaryius Thomas in the league's most high-powered offense.

Broncos | Matt Prater financial details    Tue Jul 3, 01:10 PM

Denver Broncos PK Matt Prater's four-year deal is believed to be worth $13 million with a $3 million signing bonus. Prater kicked game-winning field goals in three straight weeks last year and led the league in touchback percentage (70.1). He has the highest percentage in league history from 50 yards or more.

Footballguys view: Prater should be kicking more extra points this year with Peyton Manning leading the Broncos offense. However, if the Broncos need a last second FG to win the game Prater can be counted on as he's got ice in his veins.

Broncos | Matt Prater agrees to long-term contract    Mon Jul 2, 01:19 PM

Footballguys view: No surprise here. Prater is a big part of their team as he's a clutch Kicker who can knock in game winning Field Goals consistently. With Peyton Manning running the show Prater should also be counted on to kick more Extra Points than he did in 2011.

Broncos | Still working on deal with Matt Prater    Fri Jun 15, 02:26 PM

The Denver Broncos continue to work on a long-term contract with franchise free-agent PK Matt Prater and the two sides are not far apart at this point.

Footballguys view: Prater was a no show for mandatory minicamp this week and failed to show up to OTAs earlier this offseason. Even though the two sides are far apart right now we expect a deal to get done before training camp. With the new high powered offense led by Peyton Manning it could mean lots of fantasy points for Prater in 2012. His current ADP is K6 at the end of the 14th round in standard 12-team leagues.
