The Washington Redskins waived TE DeAngelo Peterson (foot) and DL Doug Worthington (biceps) and signed free-agent PK John Potter (Bills), who was the kickoff specialist for the Buffalo Bills in 2012. Peterson broke a bone in his foot last week, and Worthington suffered a triceps tendon injury which might require surgery. If unclaimed, both players would land on Injured Reserve, with the team paying for their rehab.

Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey said he is surprised that PK John Potter has produced a touchback on only 13 of his 26 kickoff this season. 'You know, I was hoping that he would have more touchbacks and have more non-returned kicks this year, yes,' Gailey said. 'I was hoping for that. The good thing about it is when he kicks it we have great hang time. That's been a positive. So, you decide the trade-off every week.' Potter had extras kickoff reps during practice this week.

The Buffalo Bills likely will use PK John Potter, their seventh-round pick in the NFL Draft, as a kickoff specialist. Plenty of teams kicked it through the end zone against the Bills last season, neutralizing return man WR Brad Smith. 'That's mostly what peopled did to us,' general manager Buddy Nix said. Potter said he had 36 touchbacks, which was about 43 or 44 percent, in college.
