Texans | Full practice for three Texans     Thu Jan 7, 04:24 PM

Houston Texans WRs DeAndre Hopkins (hand) and Cecil Shorts (hamstring) and RB Chris Polk (knee) were full participants in practice Thursday, Jan. 7.

Footballguys view: Hopkins will be a solid WR1 play this weekend and could be well worth the price in daily fantasy. Shorts is a so-so play though he has more upside than fellow Texans Nate Washington. Polk isn't worth a play, especially with a knee issue.

Texans | Full practice for Chris Polk    Wed Jan 6, 04:44 PM

Houston Texans RB Chris Polk (knee) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Jan. 6.

Footballguys view: Polk will serve as a part-time player behind Alfred Blue. He's not an exciting fantasy option, even when you're trying to be 'outside the box' in GPP plays.

Texans | Alfred Blue, Chris Polk practice    Thu Dec 31, 06:36 PM

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue (calf) and RB Chris Polk (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 31.

Footballguys view: Blue is the guy to start, but is only an RB3 though we've no idea how much they'll really have him carry. Polk is an RB5 at best. The two will split carries as well.

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue (back) and RB Chris Polk (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 25, and are listed as probable for the Week 16 game against the Tennessee Titans.

Footballguys view: Blue is set up to get a large workload in a game that the Texans should control because the Titans have to turn to Zach Mettenberger.

Texans | Alfred Blue, Chris Polk practice    Thu Dec 24, 06:15 PM

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue (back) and Chris Polk (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 24.

Footballguys view: We actually really like Blue this week and see him as a solid RB2. I know, we were shocked too. Still, Blue looked tremendous against the Colts last week and the Titans aren't exactly tougher. He should be an outstanding value in daily fantasy as well.

Houston Texans RBs Alfred Blue (back) and Chris Polk (knee) both practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 17.

Footballguys view: Blue has never produced this year and Polk will likely get the bulk of the carries. Even so, Polk is no more than an RB4 even against a terrible Colts defense.

Texans | Alfred Blue, Chris Polk probable    Fri Dec 11, 07:08 PM

Houston Texans RBs Alfred Blue (back) and Chris Polk (knee) both practiced in full Friday, Dec. 11, and are probable for Week 14 against the New England Patriots.

Footballguys view: We can't imagine the Texans controlling this game on the ground. That means Blue should be on your bench. We've got Polk as a 'what the heck' flex in a game where we think Houston throws it 45 times to stay with the Patriots.

Texans | Alfred Blue, Chris Polk practice    Thu Dec 10, 07:48 PM

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue (back) and RB Chris Polk (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 10.

Footballguys view: Polk is the guy we'd throw in our lineup if we had to, but only as an RB4. Blue is no better than an RB6. Overall this is not a great rushing attack, and the Texans' best hope of beating a recently embarrassed and angry Patriots team is to have a giant day from DeAndre Hopkins. Or hope the Patriots' bus falls into an other-dimensional hole on the way to the stadium.

Texans | Three Texans fully practice Thursday    Thu Nov 26, 07:22 PM

Houston Texans QB Brian Hoyer (concussion), RB Chris Polk (knee, hamstring) and WR Nate Washington (hip) participated fully in practice Thursday, Nov. 26.

Footballguys view: Hoyer is the guy to watch, as he should be a solid QB2 with upside. He could be a steal in daily fantasy as well, as his price is low and the Saints are prone to allowing lots of points and shootouts these days.

Houston Texans CB Kareem Jackson (ankle) is out for Week 11 against the New York Jets. Cushing, Dent, Jackson and Polk did not practice Friday, Nov. 20. Bullough was limited, while the others practiced in full.

Houston Texans RB Chris Polk (knee) and WR Cecil Shorts (hamstring) participated fully in practice Thursday, Nov. 12.

Footballguys view: Shorts is interesting as an option, perhaps as a WR4 flex, but neither of these two players are likely to be helpful in your lineup against a tough Bengals defense.

Texans | Chris Polk probable for Week 8    Fri Oct 30, 06:06 PM

Houston Texans RB Chris Polk (knee) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 30, and is probable for Week 8 against the Tennessee Titans.

Texans | Chris Polk has full practice    Thu Oct 29, 04:16 PM

Houston Texans RB Chris Polk (knee) was a full participant in practice again Thursday, Oct. 29.

Footballguys view: The backfield for Houston is such a mess that we cannot see risking having anyone from it. Polk is an RB4, while starter Alfred Blue is an RB3. It is a shaky group and we would use them only as flex plays, especially as Blue struggled when he was starter early in the season.

Texans | Chris Polk puts in full practice    Wed Oct 28, 07:05 PM

Houston Texans RB Chris Polk (knee) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Footballguys view: The Texans backfield is a muddled mess, and Polk's right in the middle of it. He's a hail-mary kind of play as an RB4, with some upside, but not enough to really feel comfortable with. Alfred Blue should get the bulk of the work and is an RB3, but he wasn't all that spectacular when he got the carries the first time Arian Foster was out. We're not exactly enthusiastic about the backfield here and would avoid it for the most part. There are much better options out there.

Texans | Alfred Blue part of committee?    Wed Oct 28, 04:34 AM

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue (toe) is feeling better after battling a toe injury, and he is likely to lead a committee-based approach at running back with RB Chris Polk and RB Jonathan Grimes in the wake of the season-ending injury to Arian Foster (Achilles').

Footballguys view: Blue was not great the first time out, and we see him as no more than an uninspiring RB3 this week. Polk is an RB4 with upside as he has shown a few more flashes than Blue, but that's not a high bar and we wouldn't want to count on him either. Grimes is no better than an ER5. This is a mess we'd stay away from unless you are desperate, even against the Tennessee Titans.

Texans | Running game lacking for Houston    Tue Sep 22, 05:48 PM

Houston Texans RBs Alfred Blue, Chris Polk, Jonathan Grimes and the Texans' offense rank 24th in the NFL with 44 rushing attempts so far this year. They lead the league at 105 pass attempts.

Texans | Chris Polk returns to practice    Sat Aug 8, 10:43 AM

Houston Texans RB Chris Polk (hamstring) is participating in practice Saturday, Aug. 8, after missing some time because of a hamstring injury.

Footballguys view: You can't make the club in the tub, but Polk's outlook is already getting corrected back to waiver wire speed dial with Arian Foster's injury seeming not as bad even if Polk is healthy from here on out in camp.

Texans | Alfred Blue is next man up     Wed Aug 5, 07:36 PM

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue is expected to take over the first-team duties with RB Arian Foster (groin) expected to miss some time in the regular season. RBs Jonathan Grimes and Chris Polk could also see more action in the backfield with Foster injured.

Footballguys view: Blue is a player who has earned the respect of those around (and on) the team. He's a bruising back, and reports indicate that he's improved his ability to play on third downs. We'll see if he can be the feature back, or if the team will try to use some form of RBBC while Foster is out.

NFL | Five teams looking at Chris Polk    Sun Apr 26, 02:54 AM

Free-agent RB Chris Polk (Eagles) is drawing interest from five NFL teams, according to sources. The teams were not disclosed, except to say one of the teams is from the NFC East.

Footballguys view: As long as he's healthy, Polk should be attracting plenty of interest. He's a tough runner inside, but he's a fantastic receiver out of the backfield too. It wouldn't be a shock to see Polk become an effective starter. He'll likely have to work his way up the depth chart no matter where he ends up.

Philadelphia Eagles restricted free-agent RB Chris Polk's tender offer has been rescinded by the Eagles, according to a source. Polk will become an unrestricted free agent and allowed to sign with any team.

Footballguys view: There are $1.54 million reasons the Eagles did this. With DeMarco Murray, Darren Sproles, and Ryan Mathews in the house, there was no need for Polk at that price. Someone will take a shot with him though may have to earn a roster spot in camp.
