Colts | Make two roster moves Wed Nov 26, 04:58 PM
The Indianapolis Colts claimed Shaun Phillips off waivers from the Tennessee Titans and cut LB Victor Butler Wednesday, Nov. 26.
Footballguys view: Phillips isn't the same player he used to be. Even though he's played over 350 snaps this season, Phillips only has two sacks. The Colts are desperate to generate pressure on opposing quarterbacks somehow someway, but Phillips may not give them much. |

Titans | Shaun Phillips out to prove himself Thu Jul 10, 04:46 PM
Tennessee Titans LB Shaun Phillips still feels the need to earn respect at 33 years old. Phillips recently said 'there may be some guys who have never heard of me and may not give me the respect I deserve.' Phillips added that in order to gain that respect, he needs to make them notice his play. Phillips signed a two-year deal with the Titans this offseason.
Footballguys view: Having a chip on your shoulder is the way a veteran stays on the field. Expect him to put some good games together and he could approach the 10 sacks he had last year (19 in the last two seasons total). |

Titans | Shaun Phillips not at OTAs Mon Jun 9, 06:01 PM
Tennessee Titans LB Shaun Phillips was not at voluntary organized team activities Monday, June 9. Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt has been in contact with Phillips.
Footballguys view: This doesn't sound like that big of a deal. Phillips is a veteran pass-rusher who doesn't need a ton of reps due to his extensive experience. |

The Tennessee Titans agreed on a two-year, $6 million deal with free-agent LB Shaun Phillips (Broncos) Thursday, March 27, according to a source.

Broncos | Three defenders set to hit market Mon Feb 3, 11:42 PM
The Denver Broncos have several key defenders with expiring contracts, including DE Shaun Phillips, CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and LB Wesley Woodyard. Phillips led the team with 10.5 sacks, while Woodyard had his role reduced to passing downs this past season. Rodgers-Cromartie floated the idea he was flirting with retirement leading up to Super Bowl XLVIII.
Footballguys view: Phillips said after the Super Bowl that he would like to return to the Broncos. He's not going to stay for the one-year $1 million price tag he had in 2013. Woodyard is likely gone as the team replaced him with Danny Trevathan on the weak side. Rodgers-Cromartie is the key player here. We'll see if he wants to stay in Denver for around $10 million per year. |

Broncos | Von Miller to have surgery Mon Dec 23, 04:01 PM
Denver Broncos LB Von Miller (knee) will have surgery to fix the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in two to three weeks, and he faces a recovery period of six to nine months, meaning he'll miss the team's offseason program and likely some of training camp next year. Miller might go for a second opinion on his knee. He wasn't using crutches after the Week 16 game and said he didn't have much pain in his knee.
Footballguys view: We've see the Broncos forced to play without Miller before, and they won six games without him to begin the season. LB Nate Irving played in Miller's spot after he was injured, but DE Robert Ayers also saw action opposite DE Shaun Phillips. |

Denver Broncos CB Champ Bailey (foot), TE Joel Dreessen (knee), OT Orlando Franklin (ankle), OG Chris Kuper (ankle) and DE Shaun Phillips (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 23.
Footballguys view: We'll see if Franklin can come back this week. Against the Colts in Week 7 Manning was under duress or sacked 13 times. It was the second highest number of times he's been under duress over the last five years. The last time Manning saw that much heat was a 2009 week 10 game against the Patriots (14). |

Denver Broncos LB Shaun Phillips (back) is officially listed as questionable for Week 3's game against the Oakland Raiders after sitting out practice Saturday, Sept. 21, because of back spasms.
Footballguys view: The Broncos will watch this situation closely as they prepare for their Monday Night Football Game against the Raiders. Phillips is their top pass-rusher while Von Miller is suspended the first six games of the season. We'll see them use him as a part time player who is asked to get after the quarterback. |

Broncos | Biggest concern a secondary pass rusher? Sat Jul 6, 06:36 PM
In an interview on 102.3 ESPN Bill Williamson, AFC West blogger for ESPN.com, said that he believed a secondary pass rush threat opposite Von Miller was the biggest concern for the Broncos this year. Players like Shaun Phillips, Derek Wolfe, and rookie Quanterus Smith will be asked to do more since the Broncos lost Elvis Dumervil (Ravens) in free agency.
Footballguys view: The Broncos have several options to turn to this season. Phillips gives the team a vocal leader they've been missing since the days of "Smoke Dog" Al Wilson. The team could use a rotation opposite Miller to create added pressure. |

Denver Broncos LB Shaun Phillips turned down what he said was more money elsewhere to sign a one-year deal with the team. 'That's why I came here, to be in this situation, to be with a team that is right there in the mix,' Phillips said.
Footballguys view: This is what we call the Peyton Manning effect. Players who want to win a championship will find their way to a team like the Broncos. |

Chargers | Melvin Ingram part of mix at outside linebacker Fri Apr 27, 12:30 PM
San Diego Chargers rookie OLB Melvin Ingram will play outside linebacker for the team. He is expected to improve their pass rush and their third-down defense. Ingram recorded 19 sacks and 26 tackles for a loss in the last two seasons at South Carolina. 'He's a playmaker and he's going to bring the heat, which is what we're looking for,' general manager A.J. Smiths said. Head coach Norv Turner said Ingram is the most versatile, complete linebacker in the draft.
Footballguys view: Ingram has fantastic closing speed when he sees a QB in his sights. He does a good job of anticipating the snap count and is trying to pattern his game after Broncos OLB Von Miller as the two worked out together earlier this offseason. |
